Almost There......... |
We're so excited.... Christmas is nearly here. I think if we get any more hyper, we'll have a heart attack. School & playgroup has now finished. We had a fun time on the last day as we could bring in games to play in the afternoon. I wish it could be like that more often. The fun kept on comin' with a return trip to the Norwich Castle museum, this time with Stephen, Daniel & Adam. We had a good time exploring all the rooms, and drawing some dragon pictures. Just when we thought the next time we'd see Santa would be a brief peep on Christams Eve, we got to see him, this time in Brundall, and with two of his Reindeer.... but not Rudolf (he was at home having his nose polished, to make sure it was bright enough to show Santa the way). Anyway, we got to talk to Santa about our present lists and give him a card that we'd made, so we hope this will help him overlook any small lapses in our good behaviour that may have happened during the year........ trying to influence Santa.... the thought never crossed our minds! We then had a busy day, helping to tidy up the house, which we had messed up.... again. However, we promised to be a bit more constructive when it came to making the Christmas cake, and I'm sure you'll agree that we were. With just a little bit of help from Mummy with the spacing of the letters, the rest is all our own work..... impressive eh. So, after we've written this we are supposed to just lie down & go to sleep! Don't they have any idea what day it is! The mince pies & Carrots have been put out, the wine has been poured..... its just now a waiting game.... who will win.... us, and get a glimpse of the real Santa, or sleep.... time will tell. |

New cousin Monty |
Just when we thought all our sources were well paid, supplying us with the latest, and greatest news ever, we are let down over something very close to home...... a picture of our new cousin, as Catherine had her baby. Trust me to not log onto Mum & Dad's email for a week - proof positive that there is just no time for a rest when it comes to the latest news stories. So welcome Montgomery (we're sure he'll be Monty for short) Leonard-Wright....... we're a bit confused over this last bit, as we didn't know you could join names together like that, so why aren't we Wright-Bags (or maybe we are, as Daddy calls me that from time to time?????). Grandma & Grumps came over to see us, and we saw lots of pictures of Monty, who looked just like every other baby, including us, at that age. Ben & Catherine were staying in a really big house with these funny animals in a field at the end of the garden called Lama's. We think they also live in a field near Robert & Rowan (we'll have to ask when we see them at Christmas). Alf went to feed the Ducks with Grandma & Grumps, when I went to my friend Cameron's party. We both had a great time and have been getting more & more excited every day, as Christmas is getting really close now. We'd only just had time to have a quick sleep (and mess the house up again) when Nanna & Grandad came to visit. We all helped to put up the Christmas tree that we bought on Saturday. With all the lights, tinsel, and decorations it looks really nice (although it is leaving its little leaf things all over the floor already, so whether they'll be any left on Christmas day we'll have to see). So, less than a week to Christmas, nearly the last day at school, Alf already on holiday form his playgroup / playschool, and we are already so excited we are driving people mad - what will we be like by Saturday? Remember, just a few more days to be good so Santa brings us all some lovely things, then we can really cut loose & go crazy! |

Santa - The 1st Sighting |
After last week's fun on the ice, I'm ready to go skating again, although Mummy does not seem quite so keen... must be something to do with the nice purple bruise on her leg and elbow.... well, if you will fall over so much! Maybe I can get Daddy to go. I should have an advantage as he didn't go with his work.... I wonder, did he chicken out.... I'll have to ask!. Christmas is definitely on its way, although you still wouldn't know it from the weather, its still been quite warm at home, and much to warm in France.... the last time I looked all the snow they'd had was being melted by rain.... booo. So for once I hope it does get cold, and quickly, as we can't ski on grass! We've been making our Christmas cards... all 35 of them at the last count, all carefully crafted by our own hands... I hope our family & friends appreciate our efforts. Biking through the village, more & more decorations are going up every day, so we'll have to get out and get our tree pretty soon. Tony across the road has put all his up, so we are now just waiting for the big switch-on. I know we are both off to see Santa, and his real Reindeer, in the village just before Christmas, but it was nice to get an extra, early visit in, just to check that he is OK (after all it has been nearly a year since we saw him last, and we know how much goes on in a year), and to make sure that we'd been good, or if we needed to put in a bit of extra special good behaviour over the next couple of weeks, to make up for previous mischief. Fortunately, all seems to be well, Santa has had another fine year, and doesn't look any older than before (I'll have to get some of that cream for Mummy & Daddy!), and he was happy that we'd been good, so we got a little present. Alf got some more soldiers for his castle & I got a necklace & some earrings. Lastly, our friend Harvey has been in hospital to have his ton-sils taken out. Now I don't know what your ton-sils look like, or what they do, nor how they get them out, but if he was staying in hospital over night it must have hurt a bit...... we both hope they took out the right bits and that you get better soon. |

Funny Feet |
Strange goings on at both end of our little bodies, and no we have not been violently ill... tut, tut, you grown up's. First to our feet. While is still doesn't feel like Winter and there has been more rain than snow in France, so there still isn't much snow at the chalet, me & Alf re-discovered some of our grooviest socks ever, so if / when it does get cold we are ready for anything. Next it was my school's turn to have a Christmas Fair, and we didn't just go to have a look at things, we were there selling...... Mummy's woolly hats that she'd been making, for what seems like forever. So now was the big test, would people like them & want to spend their money on them? So was the creator there to see this for herself...... NO, so where do you think she was?..... go on have a wild guess. That's right, however could you have got it.... the Ski Club. So into the hat selling hot seat stepped Nanna & Daddy, with me & Alf as child models (as required). A quick fish & chip tea & we were back off to school, that Nanna had only picked me up from a few hours earlier! We were soon set up & ready to sell. People came, people looked, but people walked away.... oh dear, were we going to have to tell Mummy that we knew her hats were lovely, other people were just blind. Then a breakthrough, we sold one, and then another. Soon, they were the must-have item of the evening with Catherine from down the road desperate to have one, just like her 3 friends who had just bought theirs. Soon there were people everywhere wearing Mummy's hats, and even two people who wanted her to make one for them, with special colours. So by the end of the night, we'd sold 10 hats, and Mummy was really pleased..... now you'd better start knitting those other two, can't keep your customers waiting. So we've done socks and we've done hats, just one more bit of strangeness..... ice skating. How, I'm sure you are wondering, as I've only just been saying how warm it still is. Well, just like there are ski slopes indoors (I know cos I've been there), there is a big bit of ice indoors that you can go and skid about on. Not just any old skidding about though, no you have to put these weird things on your feet that have a big long knife on the bottom. Well me, Mummy, Annalise, Harvey, Debbie & Kerry went along (Daddy & Alf were at a party, so don't feel too sad for them!). At first all I could do was walk around the outside holding on, but I soon let go and could get around on my own. following in the well worn path of disaster, Mummy fell over a few times and bruised her bum & her chin.... impressive. Luckily, a real penguin, (what do you mean its not real, course its real, was there to help people.... so Mummy got to know Mr Penguin quite well). I really want to go again, and this time we'll see how good the boys are. |

Aquatic Action! |
Another week, but this time not too much to tell. It was too windy & rainy for the builders to finish the roof off, so I'm no closer to getting my bedroom. I think they were sensible though as Friday night the wind was really strong, and things were getting blown about, but luckily not anything that shouldn't. We had the unexpected treat of Daddy taking us to school & playgroup for two days, letting Mummy have a well deserved rest, and the chance to get out for a walk with our friend Amanda - lucky girl!. It was nice to bike to school again, which we'd not done for some time. We had a great race with Stephen, me & Alf on our bikes, and Daniel & Adam in their car. Guess who won - yup, we did, we got home before the car, fast or what! Daddy also took us swimming with Harvey & Annalise, and we both learned that we had passed our swimming groups, with me going to level 5 (of 8 I think), and Alf to Level 2. Harvey is also going to level 2, but as Annalise has to stay in level 4, I can't abandon my friend, and I'm staying with her, until we both move up together. We had a great lesson, where we practiced our diving, and although we only did it sitting or crouching (rather than the proper standing dives in Bungay), I was still asked to show the class how to do it, which I did modestly, of course. Saturday was another Daddy day (as usual), but this time with the added extra of a trip to get some new trainers (for both me & Alf), and a new bike tyre for Alf, as he managed to ride over a drawing pin & get a puncture.... doh! Just enough time for Daddy to buy another beer kit, which will give us some more lovely drink for Christmas (which is now only 4 weeks away.....we're getting so excited!). On the way home we stopped to see Annalise & Harvey (for the 2nd time that day) at a Christmas fair. We had a good time, me getting my face painted & both of us winning some prizes in the raffle. Alf won some lovely sparkly wine, which we helped to drink, and some bubble bath. I won some fizzy pop & some perfume (which I've been spraying on, to make myself smell lovely). Finally, a lovely visit to Nanna & Grandad, with some very tense games of bingo. Alf did a great job of calling out the numbers (with a bit of help from me) and everyone won at least one game, and got a yummy chocolate prize. Grandad has been very busy in his kitchen, which now has a lovely new floor, which looks lovely. If my bedroom isn't right when Daddy has finished it, I know who to speak to. Phew, I didn't realise we'd been doing so much, no wonder my eyes are feeling so heavy...... night. |

Name that Tune! |
Ah, that's better, our hearing has just about returned as the fireworks seem finally to be over. Perfect timing really as I wouldn't want anything to stand in the way of my new musical career.... I'm now playing the recorder! I know, it's hardly the most spectacular instrument in the world, but you've got to start somewhere. One question, but I'm feeling generous, so its not too difficult.... what colour is my recorder?....no, how did you manage to guess that it was Pink, Alf must have told you! Now, I'm not yet saying I'm any good, but certainly more tuneful than Alf just blowing into it like a train whistle! At the moment we just cover the holes that the teacher tells us, and blow. I have got this book... learning the recorder from the beginning, but in there are just a lot of squiggles and lines....give us a chance we're only just reading books with longer words, and now you want music..... phew So don't expect a full recorder recital, but you never know, you might get 'treated' to a few notes at Christmas. Otherwise, it's been the first sort of quiet week for a long while, which has been kind of nice. Luckily though, we had a lovely visit from Grandma & Grumps on Saturday, and built a really great train track around the lounge. We also climbed up onto the scaffold outside my new bedroom with Daddy & Grumps. We were so high, we could see down into everyone's gardens. They've put some wood bit across the roof, so maybe soon they'll put a real roof on and it'll really start to feel like a room then. On last thing, its only just over 2 months until we go skiing, and luckily I noticed on my computer that they'd finally had some snow...... hurray! |

Big Bang(s) |
What you say.... what you say... sorry we are both a bit deaf at the moment (so we can appreciate how Grandad Grumps must feel, although you can choose to ignore people, although I'm sure he'd never do that!). The reason for our deafness, Cbeebies at full volume....no, it was all the fireworks of course. Although I know that Bonfire Night is supposed to be on 5th November, we went to my school the day before, and watched some really fab fireworks. Having scooted all the way there with curly Megs, we got ready to watch. Luckily it wasn't raining, and not too cold - for November. Now if you remember, we used to really like the coloured ones, but be a bit frightened by the loud ones, well no more, although we did have our hands on our ears, the loud ones were also were very pretty, so we now like them all. Afterwards it was off to Megan's house to eat our Chinese tea, and play in her bedroom, which lead to a really late night. Alf was so tired he fell asleep on their sofa & had to be carried home - lightweight! On real Bonfire night we had our own display in the front garden , with some pretty sparkly ones, but like the day before, we really liked the more noisy ones - especially the rockets that made a superb whooshing sound as they shot up into the sky. We finished off with some sparklers, which we used to draw our names in the air. Daddy used some crazy flame-thrower thing to light them, which worked, but I'm sure I didn't read about that in the Firework Code! The builders have again been busy, as you can see. I can't believe I'm going to have so much space, just look at how tiny my current room is, compared to my new one....lucky me. |

A Story in Pictures |
Phew, mad, mad, mad......not only our personalities, but our lifestyles (not quite of the rich & famous, but certainly of the busy!). With Robert & Rowan's visit having drained our energy levels, I thought we'd take a while to recover, but no.... Energised by a fresh supply of sweets, following a quick 'Trick or Treat' round the close - shame the weather was a bit horrible, so we didn't stay out for long, we were right back at it. Alf had yet another birthday party (while I was at school - how dare he), and at the Playbarn.... without me - again how dare he! Anyway, he had a good time as his Playschool friends were there, as well as Harvey - he did whisper to me that they did go a bit mad.... well anytime Alf says that, you know its been MAD!!! So his birthday festivities came to a close, all that was left was to save the world. Yes friends, I'm afraid to say that our future may be in Alf's hands. Grandma & Grumps bought him a Superman dressing up costume, and he now thinks that he is the real-deal. Fortunately I've managed to persuade him that he cannot fly, so for now we've had no spectacular crashes.... give it time though! So, what have I been up to I'm sure your asking, and if not, why not, aren't you interested........ whatever! Anyway, you know that wobbly tooth I mentioned, well it finally fell out, and do you know what I did? Yup, I put it under my pillow, and waited.... and waited. The next thing I know, I'm awake, the tooth is gone, and in its place was........ 50p..... magic. So thanks to the Tooth Fairy, and I look forward to doing repeat business with you again soon... so where are those pliers! Lastly, how is my new bedroom doing, well the view from my room now is changing, as you can see. They have really been making it taller every day, and there is even the beginning of my bedroom floor, but its not yet safe to walk on. So hopefully, I'll still have my new bedroom & bathroom just after Christmas. Christmas, that reminds me, I must update my list, as I've though of some more things I want...errr, need. Must dash, bye. |
29/10/2006 4 Years Old |
Allen Invasion |
Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you...... yes, Alf is now a whole 4 years old, and once again only 2 years younger than me, and never again will I be twice as old as him! It been a mad week of fun, fun fun.... so where to being.... oh why not, at the beginning. We went to see Grandma, Grumps, Ben & Catherine (who is now very big and round - and we are now only 6 weeks away from having another cousin). Lucky Alf got to open the first of his presents a day before his Birthday... I'll have to try that trick when it's next mine I think. So to his real Birthday & a trip to Gressenhall, with Stephen, Daniel & Adam, where we had a great time on the adventure playground and a ride on a real tractor. Alf was really good as he opened most of his presents in the morning but waited for Daddy to get home from work before he opened the big one. Alf's now got a big wooden castle with lots of soldiers, dragons and weapons to keep him happy for hours, playing at people killing each other..... boys eh....weird! Robert, Rowan & Shelly arrived for their holiday, and the fun & mayhem went up a level. First there were two more people to play with, the fun of Robert & Alf sleeping in my bedroom (in our special blow up camping beds). Rowan in Alf's bed, and Auntie Shelly with the big bed in Alf's room all too herself. I must however have word with Roberts teacher...6 years old & cannot even ay simple words like glass & grass properly! We had such a good time at Gressenhall, that we went there again, and had another mad day, with me & Alf able to show Robert & Rowan all the really wild & crazy things to do. The fast & furious fun continued the next day with Nanna & Grandad coming over to visit, and a lovely Power Rangers scooter for Alf, which he was soon speeding round the close on. After Daddy had deserted us the previous night, we think drinking a bit too much at the beer festival, it was his turn to look after us, and let Mummy & Shelly have a night out to themselves.... lucky girls. Of course we were very good, and went to bed without too much trouble. Well, we were bribed with fish & chips, so you see, we all have our price, you just have to find it. Saturday was a very lazy day & we really didn't have the energy to do anything (and anyway Shelly didn't feel well enough to drive home, so Robert & Rowan we staying another night..... hurray. Sadly, it was soon time for them to go home, and our house seemed suddenly quiet without them (or had we just lost our voices?). Anyway, there was just enough time for a quick trip to Wittlingham park to feed the ducks & swans, followed by a bike ride all the way around & a drink at the cafe at the end. After that we did nothin but lie down, and argue....time for bed! |

Falling Apart |
No, not the new extension, that as you can see continues to grow taller each day. you can now even see where the downstairs rooms will be, but obviously not my bedroom yet, as it's not even got a floor yet. What is falling apart is something far more important - me! Before you start worrying yourselves it is just a wobbly tooth that I'm sure (with a bit of help) will fall out in the next day or so. It started to get loose last week, but at first I thought I might be imagining it, but the mirror doesn't lie, it was definitely moving. Now, not wanting to be caught out by the tooth falling out unexpectedly, and missing the Tooth Fairy, as you'll see I've made my preparations for when it finally decides to come out. 'If you fail to plan, you're planning to fail' - wise words indeed. Clearly I'll let you know when I'm toothless (and hopefully have pictures to prove it). We had a fun trip to Norwich castle, where there was this really deep well that we dropped some pennies down. There was also this fun area with lots of mad shoes, which we tried on - making our feet look like Ducks. As there was too much to see, we'll hopefully come back again to see the rest. We're on holiday next week, and looking forward to Robert & Rowan coming to visit, but before that, obviously we've got Alf's 4th birthday, so I'm sure we'll have lots of tales to tell next time. |

Wishing on a Star |
We need to be more careful about leaving Mum & Dad at home on their own.... they made more mess than we did! We thought they were sorting things out, but it seems they just made heaps of stuff everywhere. Next time they get on to us about tidying up... we'll remember to remind them - do as you say...... I'm getting lots more homework from school this year, and now we have a spelling test every Friday. i have to remember how to spell 10 words, and some of them a pretty tricky. So far, so good, after 3 tests, I've got 10-out-of-10 every time.....what a swot I am!. As you know I try and be as good as I can at school (saving any naughtiness for when I'm at home with Mum & Dad), so I was really pleased to be the star of the week. I really have no idea where I get this natural intelligence from..... certainly not from Mum or Dad! What makes me think that, well for one thing Mummy had another crash at the ski club, and again went to hospital (although this time not in the back of an ambulance), and had to have her elbow stitched up. Why she didn't do it herself I don't know. With all that knitting she does I thought she'd be able to sort it out. So, with this, and Daddy just being generally silly & mad, I don't know whether my genius is due to either nature or nurture,.... wow pretty heavy stuff for a 6 year old to be thinking about...... I think I need a lie down. |

Escape to the Coast |
Fortunately, the builders must have realised their mistake, and without us having to speak to them, have started to build upwards... phew. They've not got very far yet, but they've made even more mess.... was there really ever nice green grass out there, cos you'd never know now. So not really much to say on the building really, only that it seems that the drains are in the wrong place, the drive is going to have to be dug up & replaced, all the windows in the house changed, and the garage knocked down!.....ouch, that's going to cost a few weeks pocket money!! Lucky for me & Alf, we had a break from the chaos, with a sleep over at Nanna & Grandad's. Now for me, being the big girl that I am, this was not a new thing, but for Alf it was, and what made it different was that we were both staying over together. We were so excited when Nanna & Grandad came & picked me up from school, and we sere soon zooming off to Lowestoft. We agreed that we'd be good, so that hopefully Nanna & Grandad would have us over to stay again. Well, we hope we were good enough as we had a fab time. We went on the beach on both Saturday & Sunday and picked up loads of interesting things, like stones with holes in them & pretty shells. It was a nice warm day on Sunday, so when tempted by a trip to the fountains, which squirt up from the ground, we just had to run through & get soaked. Alf was the 1st brave runner through & I just had to follow. Funny though, we couldn't get Nanna or Grandad to have a go. We had some mad swinging on the garden swing & the tree rope, with Alf nearly going higher than the hedge (which is very high indeed). We ate fish & chips, and honey sandwiches, although not at the same time you'll be pleased to know. Then just when it seemed that Mum & Dad were enjoying being without us, just a bit too much, they came back & while it was sad to leave Nanna & Grandad, it was nice to be back home again. So lots of thank you kisses from me & Alf to Nanna & Grandad for looking after us for two whole days... and we hope you'll let us come over and stay again sometime. Finally, a flying visit to Grandma & Grumps on the way home, for Dad to borrow a table for a car boot sale, whatever that is. Lucky for us we went on a treasure hunt for conkers, which we added to our beach finds, and now have a huge collection of great things. |

Landscape Gardening |
As predicted, the builders arrived, and quickly set about making as much mess as possible - more than we could have possibly imagine. They somehow managed to get a little digger into the garden and quickly made a huge hole, that was deeper than either me of Alf. There was so much muck, that we couldn't get out of the back door for 2 days as it was piled up so high. Then this cool little tipper truck came along, to help them take the muck out to their lorry. Alf said that one day they filled their lorry 6 times, and still left some behind....finish what you start I always say! Anyway, then Alf noticed this other man, who it seems only came round to see if the hole they'd dug was deep enough! Firstly, what an easy job, Alf is already planning to do this when he leaves school, and second, how much deeper could they possibly have gone, before they'd have come out of the other side of the world! I suppose it would have been a handy shortcut to Australia, but wouldn't all the funny animals that live there try an get through. I don't think Lilly & Floyd would like a Kangaroo jumping all around the place! Then Alf gets to see more fun stuff as a mixer lorry comes along and puts lots of lovely concrete into their tipper truck, which then gets tipped into the big hole in our garden. All of this has been fun to watch, but we are a bit confused. I'm looking forward to my new bedroom & Alf is looking forward to a bigger kitchen to play in, but aren't these supposed to be above the ground, and not under it? If our little brains are right, then are they going the wrong way. If they are, should we tell them, or will they feel silly being told what to do by two? Anyway, just in case it does all go horribly wrong, here is the story so far, in pictures. |

Deep Diving Water Babes |
You'll be pleased to know that Alf made a full, if somewhat moan ridden, recovery from his mountain-biking adventure, and we turned our attention to more leg-friendly pastimes, or so we thought. With our swimming lessons having re-started, Mummy taking every opportunity to sneak in a few lengths of the pool, and Daddy swimming after work, it a wonder we've not all grown webbed hands & feet, just like ducks! But you can't have enough of a good thing, and we've been going to Bungay on Sunday for the past few weeks. Yawn... tell us something new I hear you say..... & so I shall. Not only is Alf now a full solo rider on the big twisty slide, but we've been practicing our diving, in the deep end. Yes, that's right diving. none of this legs 1st stuff, this is the full head 1st in the water wild stuff. There have certainly been a few failed attempts when the smack of water on belly could be heard right across the pool, but other than a few red patches, no long term damage. Dad has been a very patient coach, treading water waiting for us (mainly me) to need a push to the side, as after 20 or so dives you get a bit tired. We've definitely made good progress, and now we can both do some pretty impressive dives, and were getting some admiring glances from others in the pool. Nanna & Grandad made a very welcome visit & saw Alf roaring around the close on his bike - he's really fast now & can give Stephen a good race. After all that riding, and car cleaning (even doing Nanna Grandad's for them!), we were starving. Luckily Mummy had cooked a lovely tea, a roast chicken especially for Nanna & Grandad. Mummy cooking Chicken.... I know, you thought she only ate fish and vegetables..... well no more, it seems that Chicken is a new fish. Anyway, for whatever the reason we had Chicken, the sausages, batters, vegetables & gravy were delicious. We surprised everyone with how much we both ate, and we are already looking forward to the next roast dinner. Lastly, things are going to get pretty messy, and for once it won't be Alf & me. The building work on my new bedroom & the bigger kitchen starts next week, and they are bring a digger to dig a big hole into the garden.... cool. I'm sure they'll be much more on this great construction over the coming weeks... keep reading. |

An Exercise in Suffering |
As you know, me & Alf could hardly be considered fat - even if you weighed us both together we'd probably still only be slightly above average. Now even we know that it has at least something to do with all the running, climbing, biking, skiing & swimming we do. Fortunately we do it cos we love it, but we thought made you feel good & kept you healthy - why, because Sporticus from Lazy Town on Cbeebies says so, that's why. Well a recent trip to Thetford forest (Alf's first on his own 2 wheels) may have cast some doubt on the feel good part of exercise, for Alf at least. All was going well, for a short while, when disaster struck.... not once, but twice, with spectacular crashes, thanks to some nasty deep sand on a corner of the trail. Now I know it hurts (I've fallen off enough times), but wailing & wailing & wailing, in the middle of Thetford forest, isn't going to get you back to the car - boys, sometimes they're just plain pathetic! Not Daddy of course, as we went off ahead (as I got bored of waiting) & Mummy couldn't leave Alf alone in the forest. We zipped round the trail and stopped for a lovely ice-cream & ate our packed lunch, all the time expecting Alf & Mummy to come along & join us.... but they never did! Oh, no were they lost in the deep, dark wood? Had the Gruffalo came and eaten them for a tasty snack. There was only one thing for it, we'd have to back round the trail (the wrong way) and try & find them. And find them we did, with still a fair way to go. By this time Alf's bike had been abandoned & he was being pushed along on Mummy's bike.... both looking very pathetic indeed. Everyone soon recovered, thanks to plenty of drink and their packed lunch. By this time I was ready to go again, so Mummy & me went off along the red trail again, which had some great lumps & bumps, whilst Daddy went back the easy way with Alf. |

Havin' Big Fun |
So another Summer holiday comes to an end, and back to school / playgroup we went. I think everyone is quietly please. Me as I've now got Curly Megs in my class, Alf as he gets to see all his little friends again, and Mummy for getting some peace & quiet (and I think we can definitely say you've earned it!). The holiday ended with a lots of big parcels being delivered to the house...and with Daddy at work, no-one to tell us what they were. It was like Christmas when he got home, everything was ripped open, and what did we find.... games to play. But not just any games, these were giant versions of Domino's & Jenga. It just shows that me & Alf haven't got to worry about growing up & going to work as clearly all you do is play games, as Daddy got these for the people to play where he works. But of course they needed to be thoroughly tested, before they could be let loose on untrained and unqualified adults!, so kindly me & Alf took it upon ourselves to play this important role. The Domino's was really fun to play, especially when I won (which was most of the time), but best of all was the Jenga, which we sometimes got really tall, before it all fell over. We had to be careful though as Daddy didn't get out of the way of some falling bricks and they cut his leg!. Just enough time to squeeze in a visit to Grandma & Grumps who'd just got back from France. The chalet looks lovely now it has been painted & we are all ready thinking of our skiing trip in January. It was a lovely surprise to see Ben & Catherine, who is starting to look bigger, with our newest cousin growing in her tummy... maybe next time we see her it will have already been born - how exciting! |

Gone Fishin' |
Before we start with the next instalment, an apology for the original inaccuracy of a previous item. It was previously mentioned that we visited Nanna & Grandad's house where the flea attack took place. This error was not picked up during our usually thorough proof reading & pre-publishing checks. Thankfully ,our loyal readers have correctly identified that the affected, or should that be infected, location was at Grandma & Grumps house. Not only has this error been corrected, but we are pleased to report that a recent visit has shown the premises to be free of this savage beast & once more a safe haven for Edie & Alfie to get up to much mischief in. So to our latest goings on, we went to see Annalise & Harvey in their cottage by the sea. They were staying at some place called Blake-nee, and we were promised that we could try & catch some crabs. We'd seen lots of people trying to catch them at Wells when we went camping, but hadn't had a chance to have a go, until now. It was really exciting putting your line or net into the water and waiting to see if you caught anything. I think we were all a bit keen to see & sometimes were pulling up our lines almost before they'd touched the bottom. After what seemed like ages all we'd got were a few shrimps, until Alf pulled up his net and inside was a crab! Not the biggest crab you'll ever see but a crab nonetheless. After that we found it difficult to concentrate on catching more as we just wanted to watch our crab run round & round the bucket. Luckily their cottage was close by so we popped in for a quick lunch & the out again, this time on our bikes (with Alf doing superbly well without his stabilisers). We went out towards the sea along some superbly muddy tracks with the most excellent water splashes ever. when we got back our bikes were dripping with mud & we had a well deserved lolly. Just time for a crazy session on the local playground with the fastest roundabout ever (although I did do too a bit too much spinning an had to have a lie down as I felt really sick!). Nearly time for school again, but I'm sure we can squeeze in another adventure, or two before the holiday is over. |

Eaten Alive |
We've got tales to tell, but not the sort we thought. Regrettably, no stories of mad play on Lowestoft's wide, sandy beaches to interest you. Instead a tale of a savage attack, by crazy creatures almost too small to be seen, but they certainly left their mark! Now we've got you thinking, what do you think we're talking about? Some new version of bird flu that crossed into humans for the 1st time perhaps. No, not that, but a full on assault from fleas... it makes us both scratchy again just talking about it. We went to Grandma & Grumps house ready to earn our keep though a list of garden jobs that must have taken ages to write.... it was pages & pages long! So we settled in and had a great 1st day running around everywhere, rolling around the house & garden. We got up & noticed that our legs were covered in red marks. I was the winner with 16, Alf a close 2nd on 11. At first they didn't bother us too much, but by lunchtime we both wanted to scratch our skin off & by this time we were all trying to work out what had caused the marks. A quick Hoover round & all was revealed..... great things these see-through cleaners.... it was alive with jumping things, which we now know as fleas... ugly bugs!. As they had made themselves very much at home, we were only going to get more & more bitten, so sadly we decided that we'd have to come home & Daddy would arrange for the fleas to be sorted out. Before we left we did all the garden jobs on those long lists....and it seemed like we were watering Tomato plants forever! So not much else to say, other than Nanna & Grandad came back from their camping & we went to see them when Daddy met the man who was going to sort out the fleas. Alf went the highest ever on the rope swing in the garden & even went right back over Daddy's head after he'd pushed him.... lucky he was holding on tight. You'll be pleased to know that our legs don't itch any more & as we know that cats carry fleas, we'll be having a quiet word with Floyd & Lilly to make sure they don't get any ideas of passing any of theirs on. |

Thumping Thumbs |
We hoped for sun, but did we get it....no, so someone wasn't listening. All this rain is making Alf & me bored, bored, bored. So a trip to Petitts was a welcome break, even more so because we were going with Stephen, Daniel & Adam - what could go wrong? Well, just as the sun hasn't been shining on us, nor it seems is Lady Luck (whoever she might be. I don't know anyone by that name), anyway, just as we got there and flung open the car doors there was an almighty scream from the boy Alf, who was making a noise as if he'd lost a finger..... which it turns out is a little nearer the truth that I'd 1st assumed. After much persuasion we went in & had a good time, although it was clear that Alf's thumb was starting to hurt again. We then went on a tour of the local doctors to see if anyone could help him, and ended up with Alf going off to the hospital with Mummy ,while I stayed at Stephen's house. Alf tells me that they had to put a needle through his nail to make it bleed, which sounds both cruel & horrible, but supposedly it made it stop hurting, so that's the main thing. So for a few days his thumb changed colours each day (almost displaying all the colours of the rainbow) until it started to look like his thumb again, although the nail still wobbles a bit. Other than that nothing much else happened really. Should be off to stay at Grandma's house for a few days next week, so hopefully we'll have tales to tell. |

Sleep Over Sister |
Its been a bit strange us sleeping in proper beds, without the rustle of the tent in the wind, and the regular sounds of Mummy snoring! We'd only just adapted to our own beds again, when we were off again, this time to Lowestoft - although this time there wasn't the lovely sunshine like last time... boo. Alf & me took our usual places in the bunk-bed, with my top bunk being even higher than my own bed at home. I don't even have to stretch to reach the ceiling, but luckily its high enough so I don't bang my head. We had to wait around while Mum had her hair cut (it does look nice, but does it have to take that long!). Alf & Mummy then went home to Brundall, leaving me to stay over an extra 2 nights.... am I getting all grown up or what! Nanna, Gradndad & me went to Fritton Lake, and had a nice time having a go on all the things, including the boat that we had to peddle like a bike, which I helped with. All too soon it was time to pack up my things and meet Mummy & Alf in Beccles for yet another trip around the 2nd-hand clothes shop, although I didn't get anything, just stuff for her & Alf......not fair!!!!! It was good to see Dad again, as it seemed ages since I'd seen him....ahhhhhh!. Pity the weather hasn't been better, as its not much fun playing in the rain, especially heavy stuff like we've been having. Lots of plans to see people next week, so hopefully the sun will start shining and we can get outside, before cabin fever sets in. All work & no play make Edie & Alfie dull boys and girls.. |

Beaches, Bikes & Blowing-a-Gale |
The intrepid travellers are back, this time from the wilds of North Norfolk, which as it proved is a more dangerous place than you might imagine. With Daddy's car so loaded down with things that it was a miracle that it still moved, we made it (at an unusually slow pace) to Wells-next-the-Sea, and the Pinewoods campsite that was to be our home for nearly a whole week. Having found a nice spot we sat back & watched as Mum & Dad expertly put up the tent (well, too many cooks & all that.... we didn't want to get in the way). Clearly overcome by the potent fresh sea air Alf boldly declared that his bike stabilisers were no longer required and it was time for him to pursue life on two-wheels. So, as we all held our breath, Dad removed the stabilisers, Alf got ready & with a little early help he was off, wobbling over the grassy field, but nonetheless riding on just two wheels. By the end of the week, and many more practice runs Alf made a whole lap of the camping field, only stopping (in a rather unique manner, involving a rapid side-saddle dismount), on a few occasions. We then met Robert, Rowan, Shelly & Tom for a bit of beach fun, taking it in turns to be buried alive, or diving down the sand-slide that Daddy had made. Just after we got back the rain started, but this was nothing compared with what was to follow..... The next day we woke, surprised that the tent was still over us, as the wind has been very strong overnight (according to Dad - we'd not heard a thing & had a lovely sleep) & it was still raining. So we went off to ride on a real steam train which made some fantastic noises & the smell of the smoke was lovely. Even better was that we were in a carriage just like in Harry Potter, it was really great. We arrived in Sherringham & it was still raining (surprise, surprise), but this time not just ordinary rain, no, this was just like someone was tipping a giant bucket of water out of the sky, soon there were the biggest puddles ever, and rivers running down the road. Thankfully we watched all of this from inside the dry station... phew. Clearly we were having things too easy, so Dad got us on our bikes, going through the woods or along the edge of the beach, at least he always had a pub-stop somewhere on the trip, so it wasn't all bad. In total Dad thinks we did about 18 miles on our various rides, no wonder my poor legs ache, and Alf has got a numb bum! A last play on the beach & a swim in the sea & it was time to pack everything into the car (I still don't know how it all fits in) & we were off home, at an even more steady pace as one of the tires on Dad's car needed some more air & going fast made us all wobbly. A lovely Chinese tea finished off a fantastic week |

Sun, Sea & ....Skydivers! |
Wow, what a show..... 2 days of beach fun with the lots more fun, thanks to the Lowestoft Airshow. Now I know that Grandma & Grumps don't really like it, and try to get out of Lowestoft if they can, but if you can put up with the noise, then it is fab..... try it next year!. Me & Alf had never seen the beach so packed, even the time before, with Jason & Helen was nothing like this... you only had to walk about 10 feet and you could get lost, although fortunately no-one did. Robert & Rowan were there on the Thursday & we had lots of fun in & out of the water. We had to wait until the end of the day for our favourite planes - the Red Arrows, but they were worth hanging about for as they were superb, with all their pretty coloured smoke..... well we suppose they are meant to be like that, and they are not on fire (I was there when the plane fell into the sea.... so it can happen!). Even the excitement of a night sleeping at Nanna & Grandad's couldn't keep us awake and we re-charged our batteries nicely for the 2nd day, and a visit from our friends across the road, Stephen, Daniel & Adam. Again we had a great time, with the Red Arrows coming on early this time. I couldn't tempt Stephen in the sea for a swim (a paddle is as much as he dared do).... and you are the one with the swimming medals... chicken! After that it was home to Dad, and a new washing machine that he'd put in, after the other one managed to smash itself to bits. It really did make a horrible crunching noise, before finally giving up. That's now a new (& very lovely) television in the lounge, and a new washing machine - what next?, things come in 3's don't they say!. |

Teachers Pet |
Phew, this scorching weather just keeps going & going, but now we are both on holiday at least we don't have to be rushed out of the house every morning - good news for Mummy as well. So, I've now done two years at school, and I must be doing something right, as Mrs Howlett wrote some nice things in my card - I'm so glad she's going to be my teacher again next year. We've become a right couple of beach babes, hitting the sand and he surf twice in the past few days. Firstly to celebrate the last day of school, with a few of my chums, and as an extra celebration we had fish & chips for tea. Oh, yea, I nearly forgot to say, I went swimming in the sea - well Mummy went last week, so it could be all that bad, and it wasn't after you'd got wet all over and recovered from the shock of the cold! Another cooking hot day, another trip to the beach, and another swim in the sea (this time Daddy joined Mummy & me for a quick splash about - only leaving Alf as the petit poulet! We are both looking forward to going to Lowestoft next week as its the airshow & we'll get to see the aeroplanes, and we should get to play on the beach & in the sea at the same time. I think we are going with Stephen, Daniel & Adam, as well as hopefully seeing Robert & Rowan there. So there should be lots of fab things to tell you about next time..... if we haven't melted!. |

WaterWorld |
So much for things cooling down, its been boiling hot again...... often too hot to sleep properly - so if we've been extra grizzly, then blame the weather, not us. Alf was the lucky one this week, with a bouncy castle at his playgroup (and fortunately it is never too hot for bouncing!). So we survived our week long grilling and set off to meet Grandma, Grumps, Ben & Catherine at Fairhaven, which we've been to before & had a good time running about amongst the trees. Then, an unexpected change of plan, brought about by who knows who, for what I don't know, but all I do know is that we didn't go in & ate our picnic in the carpark instead! At least we then got to go to another of our favourite places - Ranworth, and went on our usual walk down to the river (after Dad had climbed to the top of the church tower - up 89 steps & 2 ladders, which was too far for me). We watched some crazy ducks fighting with each other for some bread that was thrown into the river, which was exhausting just to watch. Then, chugging around the bend in the river came our lift home - the river boat. We all climbed on and made our way through lots of boats back to where we started, and who should be waiting to get on..... our friends Matthew & Georgie from just down the road.... small world. Just enough time to play some football with Grumps in our back garden, while Mum gave lots of our stuff to Catherine, as the baby in her tummy is clearly growing, and who knows we might see it again with someone else sleeping in it. Sunday, and with the sun beating down... again, there was only one place to be.... the beach. So Horsey beach was our playground for the day, and we had a brilliant time splashing in the sea (it was too cold for us to go right in, but Mummy went for a swim.... what a hero), building sandcastles & collecting snails off the seawall. All too soon it was time to leave, and before we knew it, another weekend had gone. |

Mountain Biking... Without the Hills! |
Thankfully, its been a little cooler these past few days, so hopefully the wild animals that Alf & I saw last week haven't roamed any closer to Brundall. My friends just didn't believe me when I told them what I'd seen (they too thought I'd been overcome by the sun), only when they saw my photos did they believe..... oh the mistrusting youngsters these days! So another week of school & playschool goes bye, only a couple left until the Summer Holiday.... YES! More good news, Curly Megs will be joining my class in September, and I'll still have Mrs Howlett as my teacher, which is fab. We managed to pack a lot into the weekend... again, a trip to the Indian restaurant for a nice curry (well the Popadums & Naan bread, with lots of Mango chutney for me & Alf), while Mum & Dad tuck into all sorts of strange things. Then another trip to Thetford forest with the bikes. Now a test for those regular readers.... what colour trail did I ride last time? Well done all those who answered 'Blue'. So, I'd already worked out that these colours were just the same as for the ski runs, so I already knew which one I had to tackle next....... the 'Red' one. This trail was superb, it was narrower, much more bumpy (which was brilliant), and it went right through the trees in some places, just like a tunnel. It was a real shame when we got back the beginning again, but fortunately Mum tels me there is a longer version, that we'll definitely have to do next time. After that they'll only be one left..... the big 'Black' beast, supposedly only recommended for people over 14 years old..... I'll just have to stand on tip-toes & put on some of the lipstick Nanna & Grandad gave me for my birthday. Just time after the bike ride for a quick play on the playground (as usual) and then we were off home, and back to school & playgroup........ again. |

Global Warming - Now there's no Doubt! |
Phew, who can possibly not agree that its getting hotter.... we've all nearly been cooked alive!. Alf & me have taken to sleeping with Mum (me on the floor & Alf on top of all the covers), so we can sleep next to an open window. Daddy has been forced into Alf's room (although not his bed), so again he can sleep with a bit of breeze coming in the open window. Dad was even so hot the other night that he slept downstairs in the lounge - weird! Well, weird that was until we experienced the cool delights of sleeping in our tent. Whisked off straight from school on Friday afternoon, and driven through the heat to a campsite I'd been to before, in Saint Neeots (on the way to Uncle Jason's). Who should be there, only Nanna & Grandad with their tent already made and all ready to entertain us while Mum & Dad put our tent up. After some fish & chips, a couple of hundred games of football, and enough running around to cover the distance of a marathon, we were all ready for bed, and what a lovely cool night sleep we had. On Saturday after a lazy morning, we went for a walk along the river in the afternoon, when it was very warm, to a nice pub for a drink. On the way we saw lots of fish in the river, and even a snake swimming in the river (the wrong way!). I didn't know snakes could swim, I'll have to tell my school chums, see if they did. On Sunday we packed the tent away early, and me & Alf assumed tat we'd be coming home - how wrong could we be. We drove on again, following Nanna & Grandad, until we reached this place where me & Alf were sure we could see Zebra running about the fields in the distance. Now I know that Alf can say some pretty strange things (can't we all), but when I saw them, I thought I must have heat stroke - but no. Zebra were just the 1st animal, next there were Elephants, then Rhino (who were huge & walked right near us), Giraffe, Monkeys & Lions. The difference was that this was not your normal Zoo, no we were in our car driving around them - it was brilliant. We then had the added surprise of meeting up with Uncle Jason, Auntie Helen, Sophie & Naomi, Uncle Tom, Auntie Shelly, Robert & Rowan, as well as Nanna & Grandad for the rest of the day seeing other animals like Sealions & Penguins (which I fed some fish to), as well as playing on slides, swings, bouncy castles, and swan-shaped boats. By the end of the day we were all cooked by the sun & completely worn out. Daddy started driving & we both fell asleep.................... |

Who are the Birthday Girls? |
This week's special offer - 2 for the price of 1. No, not beefburgers, washing up liquid, or some other shop discount, birthday's - mine & Grandma's. And what a coincidence, both our new ages being with a 6!, just a plain 6 for me, with Grandma having a '0' on the end of hers. I'm surprised I slept at all the night before as I was so excited. So inevitably it was an early start, and unbelievably Mummy got up soon after, which for a Saturday is unheard of. It was straight into the presents and cards, with some lovely things, including my very own computer, for my bedroom. Then it was off to help build my new bed (not every day you have to build your own presents), but it was well worth it, as I've now got a lovely cabin bed with a den & a library underneath, and my computer on a desk next to it. It has become mine & Alf's favourite play ground already. Soon my friends, Stephen, Annalise & Megan arrived & we were off to Pettits for a fun packed day with just Alf & Mum & dad for company. We had a great time going on everything at least 3 times, and it was a real shame when it was time to come home. But at least we came home to another surprise, Nanna & Grandad had come over for a party tea, and they brought me a lovely makeup & hair set, so me & Mummy can put on our war-paint together. On Sunday we all got dressed up & went for a pub lunch with Grandma & Grumps, for Grandma's birthday. On the way back we stopped for a walk to Salhouse Broad and saw lots of Ducks & Geese, as well as boats. It did look like fun, driving your boat around & then stopping off for a BBQ - yum, yum. Back home we all had to sit through another boring England football match, which took nearly 2 hours. I can be this accurate as Grandma & Grumps bought me a lovely new watch. All that was left was to scoff as much cake as we could eat and then collapse into our new beds (Alf has not got my old one). So I'm now another year older & clearly wiser, so beware, cos I clearly now know everything! |

I Want to Ride my Bicycle.... |
We must have been inspired by Daddy's bike adventure, and hearing that the cars they drove in Bugsy Malone had pedals, like a bike. While on the Bugsy topic, apologies are due as my official photographer has let us down and only managed to get a couple of blurred, very dark pictures, which do not even come close to justifying the performance, so we won't be making you suffer them. Another hot day, another BBQ, but this time Mummy took charge, with mixed results. some of the food was very tasty, others well, you'll just have to judge for yourselves! Daddy had his special day on Sunday, but we still got him out of bed, and allowed Mummy to have a lie in... so not special in that respect. We had made him some lovely cards & got him a book & some beer, which he was very pleased with. We decided to go on a bike ride, and went to Thetford forest for a change. To get our energy levels up we had a pre-ride ice cream, and then we were off, following the blue route, just like as if we were skiing. The path took us this way and that, through the forests & bits where the trees had been chopped down. We were feeling good, so we decided to go on the long route, that turned into the very long route, and I zoomed off a bit too fast at one point & we ended up going round half of the path all over again! Not to worry, with a few pushes from Daddy, we all made it back, hot, tired but happy, after biking about 10 miles!!!. After such an effort what did we do.... had a quick play on the adventure play ground, of course. Only then did we bike back to the car....... and fall asleep. |

Feelin' Hot, Hot, Hot |
Phew, its been nice weather for those Crocodiles we saw recently, but its been a bit too warm for Alf & me - sleeping has been near impossible. I mentioned that we'd helped Dad take down our old fence, and here is the proof - makes it look really strange doesn't it. Kev from next door came round and put up a lovely new fence in less than a day.... what a clever chap. The weather then got hotter & hotter. Fortunately we can take our clothes off & still run around wherever we want....although clearly not at school or playgroup! We spent Saturday outside almost the whole day & had chips on the market (again-great!) and had another lovely BBQ in the garden. On Sunday, it was hotter than ever & lovely Mummy took us to the beach to cool off. Cool, it was a bit chilly, so we went to Nanna & Grandad's garden where it was just right for running & splashing about. Uncle Jason, Auntie Helen, Sophie & Naiomi were there, although not for long as they had to go home - but nice to see them anyway. So where was Daddy? what could be better than a day on the beach with his oh so lovely children (yes, that is Alf & me - who else did you think I was talking about?). Well, he'd chosen to go on a bike ride.... and not just a little bike ride, no a 50 mile bike ride, on the hottest day of the year! He made it round, and had a medal to prove it (I took it to school to show my friends), as well as a certificate - well done Daddy. What I'm am puzzled about is that it was just for fun, and next time he wants to do 100 miles in one day - that is all the way from Norwich to London!!!!! - completely bonkers. Something I haven't mentioned is our drama group performance of Bugsy Malone, that Grandma & Grumps came to see. I'm just going through the pictures now & will give you an insiders review next time. |

Sleep-Overs & Scary Beasts |
After bears in the woods, we were on edge for a couple of days, until we were sure that the bears were not real. Fortunately, we'd all calmed down by the time we went to stay with Nanna & Grandad. Not just the usual visit, but over night stays, with me in the top bunk & Alf on the bottom. We slept well, but sorry for the early morning wake up call Nanna & Grandad. I hope that hasn't put you off asking us to stay again in the future, as we had such a great time. Mum & Alf stayed for 2 nights, but me, being such a grown up girl, I stayed for another night. We all went to the tooth-man, who checked our teeth to make sure we'd been brushing them, which of course we had! We then moved on to more scary beasts than last weeks bear-scare..... tigers, leopards & crocodiles, and this time they were not made up.... they were very real. We went to Thrigby Hall Wildlife Park, and had a great surprise, not only were Grandma & Grumps there, but Ben & Catherine had come back from France for the Summer & had come to see us. Not only had they come to see us, but they brought news with them as well, that Catherine had got a little baby in her tummy, so me & Alf will have another cousin just before Christmas. On our trip we got up close & personal with the wild animals, hear the screeching monkeys (much louder than even our loudest cries), and the really scary looking Crocodiles, who seemed just to be waiting, with their mouths open, for their next meal. Luckily we kept the right side of the fence & didn't become their next light snack. The next day we spent outdoors again, just in case these 2 sunny days were all we were going to get over the Summer. This time we helped Daddy chop down some of the branches of our hedge at the bottom of the garden, as we are getting a smart new fence.... we'll let you have pictures as soon as I take them. A fun packed weekend was finished off with a lovely bbq..... thanks Dad. |

Teddy Bear Picnic |
Just enough time for us to get our breath back following the fete, and we were off again - no rest for the beasts of Brundall! First, it was my turn to be Miss Motivator and help Mummy with her skiing rehabilitation. As I'd already worked out that she'd expect a gentle time - it was straight on the Fun-Park & the Moguls - face your fears! Well, we both survived & had a good time, so I'm clearly destined to be a life coach to the great & famous, or something. Then it was time for us to have our regular (well, once a year I think it is turning out to be) long walk in the woods with Annalise & Harvey. I could sort of remember the place from last time, certainly the ice-cream bit anyway, but Alf was convinced he'd never been before, but I'm sure he did. If not, where was he? We didn't leave him in the car did we! As we arrived, it all came back to me, and even Alf agreed that he'd been there before - Felbrigg Hall. So, with armfuls of teddies we were off into the woods, splashing in the muddy puddles in our wellies, playing with sticks & picking flowers (there were lots, so a few less isn't going to be noticed). We stopped at our usual place for a picnic with our teddy friends & did some fab climbing on some very twisty old trees. Alf was the most daring of all, scaring Kerry a bit with how high he'd jump, without even thinking about it. After another brief stop to feed to ducks & a final dash through a herd of cows, that really wasn't interested in us, we'd done it, we all walked 3 miles, and not once got picked up or carried - phew. So, what do you think, did we just slump on the floor, unable to move? - no, we spotted a bouncy castle, so it was straight over for a quick bounce, as even after a long walk there is always enough energy for a bit of Tigger bouncing. Alf then treated us all to a cart-wheel master class, which I have to say was quite impressive, although almost too good for a boy - he's clearly in touch with his girly side. After the very well earned ice-cream we got to make these fab birds that balance on the end of your finger, almost like they are flying - We'll have to show you them next time So we walked slowly back to the car (our legs were a bit tired by this time), but after a bit of a rest they were re-charged enough for us to go shopping with Dad, while Mummy had a doze in the car - lightweight! I'm exhausted just recalling the tale, so I'm off for a rest, or maybe I'll write a book - that can't be too much effort..............

The Fete Escape |
Wow, what a week of full on wildness, even by our frantic standards. It all started with a fun packed day with Grandma & Grumps. we spent ages playing football & rolling about in the garden, followed by a trip to the beach (but not a swim, it was way too cold for that). On the way back we had a great play in a park, while Mummy, obviously well down the road to recovery, had a beer. Alf had a hyper week, a bit too over the top at times, leading to him spending a number of times in his bedroom, and not at bedtime - bad boy beast! Me, I had to come home from school one day as I didn't feel well at lunchtime, even before I'd eaten anything, so I wasn't poisoned. I just fell asleep, and by teatime I felt lots better, and back to school for the rest of the week. No-one else has been ill at home, but a few of my friends have not been well, so I wasn't fibbing - honest. So to the other highlight, my school fete. After drama we had a brief stop at the library before getting home, changing & going straight back out to pick Megan up on the way to the fete. When we got there, there was just so much to see & do - bouncy castle, giant slide, games, music & candy floss. The only question, what should we do first? Alf was desperate to go into the indoor bouncy castle, but I wasn't so sure. Our friend Catherine was also there, and she persuaded me to go in. However, I didn't like it and had to come out (sorry for wasting your money Dad!). Time to re-fuel, and what better way than with a lovely large blob of pink candyfloss - yum, yum. Refreshed, we were joined by Annalise & Harvey, and we all went crazy on the big slide. it was so fast that we were shooting off the bottom - fantastic fun. It was then off to see the fire engine (and the chance to actually sit in it), and one of the teachers getting soaked by buckets of water - looked very chilly indeed. We then noticed lots of people with the fab looking blow up hammers, and we just had to have one each. I got mine by wacking a real hammer as hard as I could to try and ring a bell. I didn't manage it but I got the hammer anyway. Alf also got one, and we've had some great hammer battles, beating each other with blow after blow - phew, tiring work. |

Sleeping Beauty |
I'm sure we're living in a land of nursery rhymes, first Mummy did her Humpty Dumpty impression, now it seems she's swapped roles & become sleeping beauty. Morning, noon or night, anytime seems right for Mummy to have a sleep, and not just at the weekend (although her traditional 9:30 risings have, of course, continued). Whatever will she turn into next - the old woman who lived in a shoe? - yikes, we hope not cos didn't she smack her children & send them to bed, which seems a bit harsh! It seems that Mummy being tired is because her head was all shaken up when she fell over skiing & will take a bit more time until she is back to normal (whatever normal is - not only for Mummy, but any of us!) So I've been going to school with Stephen's Mummy and swimming & ballet with Annalise's Mummy, while our Mummy probably had a sleep! This has left Daddy as the main entertainer, and with a bit of help from some nice weather, we've not been too bored, although we are starting to see the first signs of Daddy's patience wearing out, so we'd better be good, or our behaviour charts will be covered in crosses, which is a bad thing! We're both hoping our Mummy's head stops hurting very soon, so she isn't so tired & can start taking us to all our things again. So we're off to tidy up & hopefully get some stickers & stamps on our charts. |

Humpty Dumpty |
I'm sure you remember the nursery rhyme, but we have a real life example that proves that you can put people back together again, who've broken their heads - our Mummy. Are you sitting comfortably...then we'll begin. Daddy was in London talking some old rubbish to some people about something not very important, so Nanna was looking after us, so Mummy could go skiing - nothing surprising so far. We get up to go to school / playgroup & while Nanna is still at home, so is Daddy, but no sign of Mummy - weird!. Daddy explains that Mummy have fallen over skiing, cut her head & had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance. What we cannot understand is that when we go skiing, we have to wear our helmets, so why didn't Mummy? So Daddy takes us to school & playgroup. I go on my bike which is really cool, especially as we catch up with Stephen who is really jealous that I've got my bike! As we hear that Mummy is going to stay in hospital again, we go with Daddy & Nanna to see her. The last time I was there it was to see Alf when he was only 1 day old, so neither of us can remember it. Mummy looks a bit funny, and we were a bit scared, but she told us she was alright, and they'd put her head back together with 14 stitches! It seems that they do exactly that, they stitch you back together with a needle & thread - yuk! Good old Dad took us to school & swimming the next day, then we went to get Mummy from the hospital. She looked much better, and it was lovely to have her home again. Things are slowly getting back to normal - Daddy's nearly finished the shower room & Mummy is resting lots, but feeling a bit better every day. At least the weather has been sunny which has meant we've spent a lot of time outside playing with our friends, in our small way helping Mummy to get better. Finally, our message to these know it all adults, we copy you people, if you hadn't already realised. So if you want us to do something, do it yourself. Have you got some extra special, super-strong head or just no brain? |

Chocoholics |
Good to be back at school & playgroup, with tales shared of holiday fun & just how much chocolate we'd all eaten - we think between us we've eaten more than how heavy we are - that's a lot of chocolate! A note of caution though, it can have unexpected side-effects. Daddy's work on the shower room goes on, and on, and on. No more excuses about the wrong this & the wrong that - he just never seems to spend any time in there - what is he waiting for?, the room to decorate itself! As ever, the impact of this is on us poor children, with Mummy still cluttering up OUR bathroom with her stuff - some normality again soon, please. Spring is definitely here, after the sun's brief appearance over the past couple of weeks, we've had dinner in the garden a couple of times and even got our towels out for a quick sunbathe the other afternoon - as we said before, pale is NOT interesting. Well its our school assembly next week, so I'd better get off & practice my story I'm reading about space. I hope everyone likes it. As they'll be over 100 people watching, it needs to be good - hope I don't get stage fright, as I think Daddy might be there. |

We Went, We Played, We're Back! |
So our holiday adventure is all too soon over, and everything returns to its normal rhythm (for a few weeks at least, when I 'm sure we'll have some more holiday!). It was really sad leaving Daddy behind when we went to see Robert & Rowan, but as he'd already smashed up the shower, I think we were right to think that he was going to be a busy boy. Robert was so pleased to see us, and we had some fantastic fun. Alf has definitely learned some new fighting moves, but just needs to remember, its play fighting... the idea is not to really punch people! Our beds were in the caravan, and what a cosy spot it was. We brought our lovely fleecy sleeping bags and we were lovely & cosy. The only problem was that it was a bit chilly on your bum if you needed to nip outside for a midnight wee! When we got back Daddy had been busy, the room he'd smashed up wasn't finished, something about the wrong sink or something..... excuses, excuses. However, he's painted our bathroom & changed the taps, which are much nicer, so ours is now lovely, and we are allowing Mummy & Daddy to use ours, just for a little while. Another treat was a visit from the Easter Bunny who not only left us with some lovely chocolate to eat, but managed to hide these lovely dog teddy bears in the hedge that Grandad Grumps has so beautifully cut. Thanks to both Grumps & Grandma for making our garden look smart again. We'll try and keep it tidy... for a little while, at least. Finally, good news, it must be getting warmer as we've put our garden table & chairs out again, and had our first lunch outside this year - must get working on that golden tan. Pale is definitely not interesting! |

Holiday Heaven |
Ah, holiday bliss, we've been up early, running around all day, going to bed late..... time & time again - fab. We went to see Nanna & Grandad who had just been on holiday too, all the way by coach (big bus to me & you) to Austria. That's where I first went skiing with Annalise & Jo... mmmm, I wonder what Windham Jo is up to now, as we haven't seen him in ages, I'll have to ask Annalise when I see her next. Nanna & Grandad were really lucky and saw some snow as they were in the mountains.... but they didn't go skiing... I can't believe it, if it was Alf & me, we'd have been straight on the slopes! It seems they were lucky to get on their holiday as their big bus did not come to pick them up in the middle of the night, and they had to get a taxi to catch it up! - all sorted out in the end though, and they had a god time. As the weather has been a bit better we've been outside most of the time, on bikes, scooters, go-karts - anything with wheels really. Poor Daniel, who is just learning to ride Stephen's old bike, fell off and scraped his head. He has been walking around with this giant plaster on his head, like a wounded soldier. I've been writing again, in a similar seaside theme as before, and I've even now made smart electronic books, where you get to turn the pages on the screen - cool eh! We had a fun Saturday, morning with Dad - as Mummy didn't wake up until half-past 10!!!!! afternoon with Mum and our friend Amanda and a trip to feed the ducks. Another treat on Sunday, Grandma came round with her brother Alan who has been staying for a few days to do some bowling. It didn't seem to be the same sort of bowling as we've done, as he didn't say anything about knocking things over, or maybe he just missed! Poor Daddy had to fix Grandma's computer again - well, he obviously should have made it work last time - silly Daddy. Anyway, we're off on holiday to see Robert & Rowan soon, and we are so excited. We've been getting all our things together, and we are going to sleep in the caravan - how exciting. Daddy has got to stay at home and decorate the house, but I don't think he really minds! Well, we're going to try and get some sleep now, but I don't know if I'll be able to................ |

Clearing the Jungle |
So, did you guess who the pictures were? If not, you might be surprised that none of them were me or Alf. No, that was not a mistake, one of the pictures was of our Mum, the other was of our Auntie Shelly (cousin Roberts Mum), when they were both little girls. We were both on a bit of a wind down as it was the last week at school / playgroup before the Easter holiday....yum, yum - soon time for chocolate. Finally, the weekend & some nice weather, so what do we do - relax, take it easy..... no we all get stuck in and chop the big hedge down, with Grumps help. He was climbing up the ladder & cutting this huge branches down with this big, very sharp saw.... one big branch even fell onto him, and just bounced off! We had lots of fun, we found a secret way out of our garden, directly into the jungle that had formed from all the branches that had been cut down. We then showed that its not all play & no work with us two, as we helped to load up Mum & Dad's cars with all the branches (so much that you couldn't see out of the back window). I even helped at the dump (although only with the little branches). Next we'll be doing the top and the house-side of the hedge, so we're looking forward to even more jungle. So we're on holiday now...... must dash.... much mayhem to create. |

Mummy's Day |
Well, all seems forgiven in the Wright household, after Alf's impressionist wall-art last week - phew! all eyes were on the weekend, for even more reasons than usual, first, I had my friend Harry's birthday party to go to, second it was Mother's Day & me & Alf had been working really hard on our cards. Lastly, and not because I'd nearly forgotten, we were going to see Grandma & Grumps. So, Harry's party - after the regular bike to the sweet shop (after drama), and much fun was had by everyone, including Stephen who we took in the back of Daddy's car. I was thinking about going skiing after but I couldn't be bothered - sorry to my new group, hope you didn't miss me too much. Alf certainly didn't, fair enough though, while I was having fun with Harry, he was off having fun with Daddy at the park. Then off out for a curry, which as you know we usually really enjoy. This time however I was just a bit to tired, and it was all I could do to nibble, while Alf shovelled rice down his face like it was his last meal. He made some people sitting nearby laugh with his freestyle songs, blending nursery rhymes with Cbeebies tunes - maybe though the waiter didn't like it as he only brought 2 chocolates, so Mum & Dad obviously didn't get any! So, after Mummy's usual Sunday lie-in (helped by this weird changing of the clocks thing - I still don't get it), we surprised her with her cards & present, which she really liked, so the effort was worth while. Off to Grandma & Grumps, and while Dad played with Grandma's computer - I do hope it will work again after he's been playing with it, we had a great time in the garden (as it was finally a bit warm), playing football, tennis & stuff. We were really worn out after such a busy weekend, and I was just about to go to sleep when I came across these pictures, but I'm not sure when / where they were taken - can you help? |

Turner Prize Winning Artist? |
Another late burst of activity, following a pretty uneventful week (except for Daddy abandoning us on Tuesday night, as he was away with work at some airport. don't ask me why as he wasn't flying anywhere, or at least I don't think he was). Anyway, the weekend began in its usual manner, up early, eat porridge & watch telly, before Mummy finally gets up some hours later. Continued with a trip to the library & the sweet shop, all again pretty normal. Finished off with a good bit of skiing, with Mummy & my new skiing chum Hazel.... now I'm sure I know some other people called Hazel... but who are they?????????. Sunday, much the same, a repeat of Saturday, with Mummy up late, but this time we had visitors.... Nanna & Grandad came for dinner. We had a good time playing inside & out, and with some colouring books that they'd brought. Now at the time Alf was happy colouring in his book, in his own style, a little scribble here, a little scribble there, with no hint that this was the time that a frustrated artist was bursting to get out and express himself on a much bigger canvas!. So to the explosive end the weekend, while I was playing on the computer & therefore completely unaware of his activities.... (I'll take a lie-detector test if you want), Alf had armed himself with the biggest, blackest, most permanent marker pen in the house and created a larger than life size modern art classic...... on the wall at the top of the stairs!!!!!!! Big mistake.... even I know that was stupid. So, do you think Daddy was happy with this piece of unique art? Did he see the mystery & beauty of Alf's art?........ No, he was very, very, very angry, and Alf got a right telling off..... even scared me! So poor old Daddy had to spend his time cleaning & re-painting the wall where Alf had drawn, and now you'd never know it was there. One thing is for sure, I don't think Alf will be doing that again. The message, chums, walls are for holding up roofs, paper is for drawing on. Remember this, because if you to get them confused, I expect you'll be in trouble too, and we don't want that now do we. |

Brundall Book Worm |
Firstly, you'll be pleased to know that the wild beasts have not been seen again since we last spoke. hopefully they've gone off to frighten some other children, or grown ups! Second, in case you were worried that one of us had turned into a wiggly worm, just ready to be dinner for some hungry bird, worry no more - we haven't. Its just another one of those silly phrases that doesn't mean what it says, and in this case I don't know what it means, I saw it on a poster in the Brundall library where we go most Saturday mornings to get some different books. So on the topic of books, you know how much Alf & me like our books, always reading, or being read to, well I've found that actually writing books is not too difficult, as I should definitely know my audience! So fresh off the printing press, or should that be ink pen, of the next hot literary talent in the world of children's books, its 'La Mer' by Edie Wright. Just enough time between creative bursts to go skiing. This time Annalise did come but had a few problems with the lift & decided to stop. A little tip, just stand up (don't try & sit down & it'll be much easier). This time Mummy was skiing with me & a few others (including Oscar from last week), perhaps he's following me! We're trying to get good enough to join the proper Junior Club, which I reckon I could do, but I'll wait for Mummy to say when I'm good enough. Alf & me had a good time at Daniel's 3rd birthday party with just a few friends at their house. Lot of cake & sweets, so we haven't eaten a proper meal for a couple of days......best we go and clean our teeth. |

Brundall's Wild Side |
Before we shock and amaze you with a modern Jeckell & Hyde story, a nice girly story.... yes, yes Alf I know this is not your sort of thing, but we'll get to the boy stuff later.... baby brothers, who' have em! My pink ski poles made their first public appearance recently and I certainly got some admiring glances from some of my fellow skiers. No Annalise as she was helping her Daddy put in a new dishwasher... hidden talents that girl! so I skied with Debbie & Oscar, and had a really good time. So no need to worry Mummy, who was so busy looking after everyone else she had no time to look after me! We then went to see another film at the cinema (you remember those dark places where they have the biggest tele's you've ever seen & the loudest music ever.... see you have been there before). This time it was called Chicken Little, after the story Chicken Lickin who thinks the sky was falling down. Anyway, we can't say too much in case you go and see it yourself, but it is quiet good. Not as good as Narnia though. So, Alf, shall we tell them about the hidden savages we have found lurking in our house. It must be like something out of Narnia, as they just appeared all of a sudden with no warning, and lots of roaring & sharp claws. I know Alf, better than telling them, why don't I show them the time-lapse, man-trap activated photo's I managed to get after an all night stake out..... see what you think chums....scary or what. I don't know if you've ever seen anything like that before.... even the lead singer of the Darkness is not that scary, and he's from Lowestoft! If you see them prowling around your house my friends, they might just be thirsty, in which case we've found they are quickly soothed by some milk. Be safe.......... |

Crime Doesn't Pay |
I trust you have by now uncovered the cactus killer. Yes it was Alf who took a pair of scissors to one of Dad's cactus plants. The motive... revenge. He told me in confidence (but I'll tell you my chums, cos I know you can keep a secret) that he'd spilled Dad's drink and was feeling annoyed at being told off, so whilst the attack was not pre-meditated (that means he hadn't been planning it for days & days), he saw the scissors, saw the cactus & decided it needed to be cut down to size, much like Daddy he thought. Now, I don't want any of you thinking that this is a clever thing to do....its not. Alf is very sorry for what he did, and everyday he passes the ever more pathetic looking cactus, that reminds him of his crime. So remember my friends, crimes against Cactus' doesn't pay. Otherwise, not really much to say, other than a good trip to the swimming pool (after Alf refused to get in on Thursday)....which at least proves he can still swim.... you'll only get better if you practice Alf. Oh yes, one other thing, Daddy has finished making my very own pink ski poles which I'm going to try out at the ski club, they are so funky ,and will match my coat perfectly. I'll let you know how I get on next time. Well school tomorrow so I'd better get some sleep now.................bye. |

Can you Help Solve the Murder Mystery |
On holiday again, I was only getting back into school & I'm on holiday again.... isn't it such tough life! Nothing so exciting as another ski trip, but we did get out & about. Stephen & Daniel came with us to a strange place that was like it was lots of years ago, a work house or something, which was sort of interesting (well Mum liked it). We were more interested in the newer things like the animals and the things to play on / with. When the weather allowed we spent lots of time outside on our bikes & playing football & golf although neither Alf or me can hit it straight like Stephen can..... natural talent there (I'd better become his agent!). Going shopping with Dad in Norwich has become a regular Saturday treat, with chips on the market a must. I even got to ride my bike this time, and scattering the pigeons was great fun (fear not my animal loving friends, no pigeons were hurt.... I wasn't fast enough to get them!) We had a lovely visit to Grandma & Grumps on Sunday & spent lots of time playing games, reading books & relaxing, while Mummy finished knitting my scarf. I'll have to show you, as she's now making a matching hat, which is pretty groovy. We did try it on Alf but Dad said it just made him look like the village idiot (whoever he normally is). So you are probably thinking, so what about this murder mystery then, well there has been a savage, unprovoked attach on one of the resident cactus plants, which was mysteriously beheaded, and I need your help to identify the cold-blooded plant slayer.... good lucky my detective friends. |

White for the Wright's II |
Now, where were we, oh yes, the skiing & the snow tubes. The skiing, especially for me, just got better, Daddy took me higher than ever, on a lift that went over a bridge. Unfortunately Annalise fell off & had to slide down in this very deep snow on her bum (together with a load of other people that had crashed into her... ooops!). The snow tubes got crazier & crazier, we found this next place to slide - into the hole next to the chalet... it was so steep it was almost straight down at the top! It was a real struggle to get up at first, but soon Dad & Kerry had dug some steps, so we were up again, for another go, in no time.... hours & hours of fun. On Ben & Catherine's night off we went to this strange restaurant, where you cooked your own food - I told you these foreigners were a strange bunch!. Mummy & Daddy did their cooking on a hot stone, while Debbie & Kerry had a hot pot of oil. It was pretty weird seeing all this, but as there were chips & ice-cream, we all had a good time (even if Alf & Harvey fell asleep before we left the restaurant). So we skied some more, making tracks through the woods & finding some great little jumps to leap over... this real was the best fun ever. The boys had made good progress by the end of the week and had a go on the chairlift so they could ski down my favourite slope. I tried to wait but they were too slow, although Alf was really pleased with himself as he had a good time getting down slowly with Dad. It didn't seem that we'd been there very long when it was time to pack up our cases, climb back into Ben's van & drive back to Nice (this time without having to be accompanied by the snow-plow). We had a nice break on the way back with a stop in 'On-tre-vow', and the chance to stretch our legs by running through the narrow streets. So up, up & away on the orange plane, on the airport train, on the bus, into the car & finally..... home (with Chinese tea)... phew! We're exhausted just remembering it, but would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who likes to have fun in the snow. We'll be putting together our film memories for showing soon on a DVD near you. |

Very All White for the Wright's |
We're back from the slopes, and phew what a mad week it was. Such a wild time, its hard to know where to begin.... so why not at the beginning. We all set off early in the morning, destination the Pink Elephant... no,no, no, not some strange pub for weirdly dressed people for a breakfast beer, this was the name of the carpark at Stan-Stead airport. The flight was a bit dull without some first-time flyer handing onto my arm, but it passed quickly enough, and so the French fun could begin, and begin it did. Normally the ride in Ben's van is a bit boring as it gets dark and there is not much to see, but this time there was snow everywhere and we weren't even half way there. There was so much that this special snow-plow lorry had to clear the road by pushing all the snow to the side.... however even that wasn't enough and Ben had to put some special chains on his wheels so he could get up the hills..... really exciting stuff. So we arrived (late), had our tea (supper really) and went straight to bed. Next day we awoke to sun & snow & a desperation to get on the slopes & get some high-speed action going. Ski we did, me & Annalise cruising around, finding our ski-legs, Alf & Harvey finding out just how different it is from the dry slope.... ooouch, those splits had to hurt - you'll know for next time boys! So a pattern emerged, us girls skiing with Daddy & Kerry or Mummy & Debbie in the morning, while the boys had some 1-1 tuition from whoever we weren't with, a spot of lunch, an afternoon DVD, then madness on the snow tubes. After a couple of days it was clear that us girls were pretty wild skiers, with Mummy & Debbie often struggling to keep up.... & we've got the pictures to prove it. The boys however were finding it a bit tough going... I can remember my first year & its just a case of practice, practice, practice, so stick with it. The snow tubes were something else, a real leveller, no need for experience or technique, just nerves of steel. Daddy & Kerry built our own snow tube track down the main path to the chalet, complete with 2 jumps, & how we flew all the way down to the end (finally having to install a 'catcher' to stop us shooting off onto the slopes! I had my camera only a minute ago, but now can't find it (hardly surprising given the state of our bedroom's - unpacking is such a messy business!) which is a shame as I wanted to share a selection of pictures with you. Well, we'll both have to have a tidy up & find that pesky camera. Anyway, also an excuse for an early night, as we've both been feeling really tired since we've been back - all that fresh air & them playing about with the clocks - mad foreigners! |

All White for Wright |
Alf & me have been super excited, as its so nearly our skiing holiday. The best news of all, its been snowing in France. Not just the little bit of snow like what we get, but snowing for a whole day.... wow that must be enough for us to build a huge snowman! As we said only recently, life is weird, and so again this proves to be so true. It was only a last minute decision to go to Makro to get some washing powder, but who should be lurking amongst the shelves.... only Kerry & Harvey.... freaky or what. So we had the unexpected pleasure of a lark around with Harvey D, and a lovely refreshing drink after our 20 laps of the store! Mummy was off to the ski club as usual, so it was off to the library and the ski shop, to get us both some new goggles. Can you guess what colour mine are?............ wow, what a lucky guess, however you did know that they were pink..... were you spying on me? Anyway we also got round to finishing these great window stickers that Jason & Louise got me for Christmas & stuck them all to my window, and don't they look pretty. We then had fun & games with Grandma & Grumps, who even brought some 'pass-the-parcel' games for us to play.... yummy, lots of lovely sweeties for both of us. So, in a weeks time, we'll be in France, and probably fast asleep after a mad day's skiing. I hope I'll be able to get Alf to come down my favourite slopes, and that we have some fun with Annalise & Harvey. As they have also got ringo's, 4 of them sliding down the slope should be mad!. Hopefully we'll all come back in one piece, and that Kerry doesn't do anything silly, like he did last time. To the slopes my friends, its time to go skiing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Another Candle on the Cake |
Following last weeks ski holiday revelations, more shock news - Mummy is now 37 years old (that is 7 times older than me! - were you impressed with the maths.... impressive eh!). The day started like any other (Saturday that is), with everyone being up, dressed & had breakfast, before Mummy even gets out of bed. This time it was after 9:00....disgraceful, but I suppose on this occasion it was her birthday. So we took her breakfast in bed & made her eat it really fast so we could help her open her presents. Mummy was a lucky girl, lots of things to make her look & smell nice, a funny pair of ski gloves, an even stranger thing to put over your head, or round your neck or something..... I don't know (I couldn't even work it out from the pictures on the box), and a cook book, so hopefully well have some new tasty things to eat. Even if we say so ourselves, we think the birthday cards we got were particularly appropriate. Then, just like every other Saturday, Mummy was off to the ski club, and we went into Norwich with Daddy. Again we had some lovely chips from the market, some of which Alf shared with the pijon's. We then got some wrapping paper and sweets and made a pass-the-parcel before Mummy got back. Good news was that there was no repeat of Alf having a wee in a shop, so things are getting better. Another good thing about birthday's, you get to eat birthday tea - on this occasion Chinese... lovely rice, noodles & prawn crackers... yum, yum, yum. So with Mummy was now a year older, but only looking a day over 36, it was off to see a film about a Lion, a witch & a wardrobe.... a very strange combination I thought, but now I understand. Me and Alf enjoyed it, maybe not as much as Charlie & the chocolate factory, but it was still good, if a bit scary in some places, especially where the Lion dies... sorry, we didn't mean to spoil it for our chums who've not seen it. Well we're off to look in the back of my cupboard to see if there is the secret world of Wright-Land is at the back...... |
08/01/2006 |
Friends Reunited |
Oh the joyous unpredictability of it all. One minute it starts to make some sort of strange sense, then the next minute, its all confusing again. So first the sense, Alf is now a boy boy toilet user, just like me, and don't I know it - sometimes I dash to the toilet, only to find him in there..... having a wee standing up! Dad knows all about Alf & toilets. We went shopping in Norwich the other day & Alf went to the toilet 6 times (including one unscheduled spillage on the floor of a shop - time for a sharp exit! So there it was, all seeming nice and predictable, things happening the way you expect, back to school, Alf back to playgroup..... the old routine coming back, then wham!, and what a great big groovy wham it was too. Annalise & Harvey are coming on holiday with us to France!!!!!! Now I don't know whether both her & Harvey are brilliant at keeping secrets, or if it is only something they've decided to do but wow, what mad news - me & Alf danced around the house when we heard, we were so excited. So with only 3 weeks to go, I've now got so much more to think about... what to wear, what she'll be wearing.... oh the stress!. |
