Merry Christmas Everyone!

So the waiting was finally over, and Christmas arrived (at last) - hope it was a good day for all our chums.

The last week was a nightmare, every day seemed endless- we were so BORED! We went skiing one afternoon with Daddy (who hadn't skied since France in January), but he seemed to get on OK - not as good as us obviously, but not bad for nearly a year off!

Then it was Friday, and Christmas Eve (and all we wanted to do was go to sleep and wake up on Christmas Day), hopefully to lots of lovely presents - but we were sooooooooooo EXCITED, sleep was not going to be easy. But try we did & guess what, Alfie wrnt straight to sleep - great! Me, not a chance, I tried everything - counting, thinking happy thoughts, relaxing, but nothing worked, and the clock kept on ticking..... 10 O'clock......11 O'clock........ 11:30....... 11:40............ then it was 6:30 and CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were very good, we didn't get everyone else up until 7:30, which was very thoughtful of us (wasn't it!), then the present opening could begin! We both opened a few presents before Grandma & grumps came round for lunch, and we opened the rest with them. Again we were very lucky - Alfie & daddy shared a remote controlled Helicopter (which we tried to fly indoors but its just too powerful and went right up to the ceiling - CRASH!!!!. We went outside & learned how to control it & it is really fab - loads of fun in when the weather gets better. I got a mini fridge for my bedroom (that I've wanted for ages), its a great place to store my chocolate & I'm going to get some cans of drink to keep in it.

We both got some other lovely stuff - pens & pencils, ear-rings and smelly things, goalie gloves, sweatbands & other football stuff - we are just soooo lucky!

After we'd stuffed ourselves on the lovely Turkey dinner, all we could do was play a few games of Rummykub and be lazy, until more food came out for teatime - groan!

On Boxing Day we went on a walk with Annalise & Harvey, which we really needed, as we'd eaten far too much. There were a few Geocaches on the way, but in the snow & ice some of them were impossible to find. Nevermind, it was still a 4 mile walk and we all had a bit of an appetite when we got back - to home made pizza and some more of Grandma's lovely Chocolate cake which was so lovely.

The next day we were all feeling really lazy, and didn't do anything at all - I didn't even get out of my pyjamas all day - lazy or what!

We couldn't do the same again for a second day, so we went to see the Seals at Winterton. Brrrr, they must be so cold in the water (but they don't show it, do they).

Daddy's back to work tomorrow & we are going to the Pantomime in Lowestoft...... oh yes we are! We hope all our friends had a great Christmas like we did & that Santa brought you the things that you asked for  - Merry Christmas.

White Christmas????

Feeling Chrismas'y yet? - we are. The tree is all decorated & looking fab in the conservatory (especially as some of the presents are now lying next to it), and the house is filling up with Christmas cards (most of them to me & Alfie, from our school friends).

School is all finished until next year - how mad is it to say that (and so soon - where did the year go?). We did our Christmas play and Mum, Dad, Grandma & Nanna all got to see it (Nanna only just made our bit as her train was late!). Alfie did some great singing in the front row of the choir, and I dressed up as David (in modern clothes, as our family let this homeless lady & her baby come into their house at Christmas time, when everyone else had turned her away). I only had a few lines to say, but I think it went OK.

Otherwise the week wasn't very interesting, other than an evening at Stephen's house as Daddy was travelling back from Sheffield (where he said there was hardly any snow - so where did it all go in the week since they supposedly had loads & loads?, and Mummy went to her Ski club Christmas meal. Even though it was after 8 o'clock, me, Alfie, Stephen & Adam were still full of beans. Not Daniel, who went to bed at 7 o'clock (although he will be awake nearly 2 hours before us in the morning - crazy boy!

The weather is also making it feel more like Christmas with snow on the ground for days & days, and temperatures so cold it is unbelievable. On Saturday morning we went to go skiing, and Daddy's car said that it was -11 degrees (the lowest we've ever seen). Luckily the skiing warmed us up, especially the sweet treasure hunt (which was much more difficult in the snow!) & was great practice for France. One bad thing about all this snow, the airports have been closed, and people have not been able to go on their holidays - lets hope they get everything sorted out by mid January when we want to go away.

It was still freezing cold on Sunday, but the roads had been cleared, so we were able to visit Nanna & Grandad (for the last time before Christmas - they are staying with Uncle Jason & Auntie Helen). We had a lovely Christmas'y feast and came home with our tummies very full (of some healthy things as well) - have a lovely Christmas Nanna & Grandad.

Grandma & Grumps were going away for Christmas, but are now coming to see us instead, so that means we'll have to tidy our bedrooms (and all our stuff downstairs-again..... boooo).

So chums, less than a week to go and we are ready NOW - come on Christmas, hurry up!

Swim Edie Swim

Just two more weeks to go until Christmas, and only one more week left at School - and we're definitely feeling more excited every day. When we've had our School Christmas lunch we know there isn't long to go, and that was last week (and very tasty it was too). We don't think it'll be a white Christmas as its too warm, and all the snow we had is now long gone. Not in Allos though, as they opened the ski lifts yesterday for the first time this Winter, and it looks pretty good. fingers crossed that it just keeps snowing every week or so until we get there, and it'll be perfect when we get there.

So about the swimming thing - well we had a distance competition (a whole hour to see how many lengths we could swim, without putting our feet down). How many lengths do you think I managed?

Less than 30 - No, how rubbish do you think I am!

Less than 40 - Not so bad - some of the class managed about this many

Less than 50 - I would have been happy with this, but no.

Less than 60 - Very close.. I actually managed 60 lengths which was 1000 metres - that's like me swimming to School from my house!

Continuing the sporty theme, Alfie's Soccer Stars (Elite) had a match against a team from Sprowston, and they won 5-1, and Alfie scored one of the goals (of course the best one - according to him), so he Jo & Harvey were well happy.

Next week we've got our Christmas play to do, and I'm playing David (a rich kid), which Daddy keeps trying to suggest all sorts of strange things for me to wear / say. I think I'll just keep it simple & stick to the script.

Nanna & Grandma are coming to watch , so I hope they like it.

We're off to put some decorations on the tree, so then it'll really start to feel even more like Christmas.

Sno-pless

Boooo, all the snow has gone again. Unlike last Winter, the snow turned to nasty ice, and was no good for making snowballs (although the blob-body of Alfie's snowman is still in the garden (very dirty now, but still hangin' on). Once again we've seen how rubbish we are in this country when we get snow - people are stuck in their cars for hours & hours, trains & planes don't work, and of course Schools get closed (but not ours.... yet). In some ways it was a good thing that we didn't get the really cold weather - minus 21 degrees is just a bit too cold! That was in Scotland, and it was colder than Allos, much colder.

Now its officially the month of Christmas, we've got off to a flying start and written most of our cards. Its only when your had feels like its broken, cos you've written so many cards, that you realise just how many friends you've got. Tony across the road has now put his decorations on his house, so the countdown to Christmas really has begun. We're just about keeping the excitement under control - hope you are too.

After my previous musical attempts on the violin, I've now got a Saxaphone to practice, and as you can see its nearly as big as me (and heavy & load!). You really have to give it some puff to make it work, but sometimes it does make a tune you can almost recognise.

After Alfie's sleep-over (yes, that right the one almost without sleep), it was his turn to be a sleep-over guest at his friend Jo's house. Whatever tricks his Mum & Dad played definitely worked as they went to sleep at 11 O'clock and didn't wake up until 6 o'clock in the morning (double the sleep they had round ours). The lucky devils then got to go swimming at the Marina Centre in Yarmouth, which has a wave machine like at Splash. A belly full of MacDonalds and he was back..... to tidy his bedroom, along with me.... BORING!!!!

We then had an unexpected treat, a trip to Stephen's house for tea. We were on our best behaviour but Adam was crazy - chasing & fighting with Alfie (who did very well not to retaliate), and when he didn't react he turned on his Brother Daniel, and it was a full on Fight Club!

Me and Mummy didn't fancy going skiing on Sunday so we had a lazy morning, until Grandma & Grumps came round. Of course I had to treat them to some Saxophone solo's (and nearly played a whole version of 'Happy Birthday' as it was Connie's 3rd birthday). Grandma  showed us some pictures of her shop in Eastborn that looks like it will be pretty cool when it is done - not sure about the indoor tents though - bizarre!

So, now just 3 weeks to Christmas - let the countdown continue!

The Snoasis of...... Norfolk

Only last week we were saying about the snow in Allos, now we've had some of our own. First to get his skis on the white-gold was Alfie on a Friday night wanabee blast (lucky he had his goggles as otherwise he would have been skiing blind!)

My turn on Saturday morning, but after a couple of ski runs, me & Megan decided that sledging & mini-tubing would be more fun, so we spent all our time on the nursery slope (a very rare thing indeed).

Mummy got her go with me on Sunday morning, and we probably had the best snow of all. The pictures don't show just how much there was , and with more snow meant to fall during the week, maybe we'll get another go at the weekend.

The snow has stopped us doing much else, but what else do you want to do, when there are snowballs & snowmen to be made?

Daddy always finds something, doesn't he, and of course.... more DIY. This time he's changed the lights in the kitchen to some of the funky wire ones that we've got on the stairs - shame there are still some holes in the ceiling, but I'm sure he'll get round to fixing them very soon. He put them up pretty quickly, clearly helped by our well trained DIY Cat - Maddie (pass me the screwdriver, please).

For once we were pleased to be watching Norwich play football from the warmth of our house, as they were on TV, playing against Ipswich. And the score was (Uncle Ben, are this is just for you) Norwich City 4, Ipswich Town 1. Grant Holt scored 3 goals, and Wes scored the other - everyone from Norwich was very happy. Come on you Yellows!!!!!

Lets hope there is still some snow on Monday, so we can throw snowballs at our friends at school. To our chums everywhere, hope there was snow where you were - have fun!

The World According to..... Alfie

Before we share some classic Alfie wisdom with you, its lucky that he's all thawed out now, after he was nearly frozen to death (his own version obviously) on the football field. Now I admit, it was cold, and wet, and not the sort of weather that you'd want to be running around outside in shorts, but hey - that's what footballers do, so get over it!

Dad went to see him play and he was pretty impressed. He didn't score any goals but he made some chances for his team to score (just rubbish finishing let them down) - but at least they didn't lose, as the final score was 0-0.

So, to Alfie-the-wise, clearly showing why 8 year old's should be listened to:

[1] - If you've watched 'I'm a Celebrity (the jungle program), you'll understand this - When Gillian (the silly Scottish one) said - "I don't like insects or Spiders", Alfie said - "So why is she in the Jungle then". There really is no answer to that.

[2] - When a soldier was on a program and it said that he'd had his leg 'blown off', Alfie said "Was that by the wind", I'm thinking not

[3] - When Alfie said he know how to tell the difference between a Boy Cow & a Girl Cow, we waited to be impressed. However Alfie's answer was that "You can tell the difference by the amount of Black & White they have on their face" - could be true, but again I'm thinking that he needs to be paying more attention at school.

Nanna & Grandad came over to see us and have been making their holiday home all snug for the Winter. The good news is that the tickets we won at the amusements can be used next season, so well be able to get even more and get something even better (if there is actually something good that is).

Oh yea, talking about the cold, there has been snow in France, and Allos is looking white. Fingers crossed that there will be plenty more before we go over in January.

13/11/2010

Sleep Over, but almost without the Sleep!

Only 40 something sleeps til Christmas now (yup, we've been on Ebay again). As this is a good countdown for us, this will be a regular feature now until the big day, just to get all our readers in the Festive spirit.

Compared to the last few weeks, this was quite relaxed by comparison, although tiring for a completely different reason. not the usual full-on outdoor exercise, just sheer exhaustion caused by a severe lack of sleep!!!

So what was the reason for this?

Early Christmas Excitement........................No

Just Too Much X Factor............................No

Wild late night party...................................Could be!

The reason for this crazy situation..... Alfie's late, late birthday party, with his school chums - Jo, Kyle & Farys. So after a ice easy week at school we all had lots of energy to burn off, and what a perfect chance, a night of:

Eating - Lovely KFC & sweet Popcorn

Drinking - Big bottles of fizzy Orange Tango

Films - Dennis the Menace & Up

So we ate, we drank & we watched, and at 10 o'clock we were supposed to go to bed...... but were we tired, of course not!

But being the grown up Girl that I am, me & my friend Lucy went off to my room and while we stayed up til about 2 o'clock we didn't make loads of noise like Alf & his three friends did. The boys (according to Mum & Dad) were still messing about at 3 o'clock in the morning & only settled down after they were given their final warning.

We all had a great time, but tidying up in the morning, after 5 hours sleep wasn't the greatest thing in the world!!!! Then booo it was time for everyone to go home, and what did Mummy do.... what a guess, that's right, she went back to sleep!!!!!!

We spent the rest of the day wandering around like Zombies, and could only just pick ourselves up for a  bit of football with my new goal (my birthday present from Grandma & Grumps) which is fantastic, and a bit of roller-skating round the close.

Sunday was more of the same. No-one woke up early enough to go skiing, and the day disappeared slowly with everybody making the house tidy again - ready for us to mess up again no doubt!

Crazy Cat Capers

Another week gone, and less than 50 sleeps until Christmas (according to Ebay anyway)

We are not sure if it was all the firework noises that made Maddie & Nellie even more mental than usual, but they certainly found some interesting places to get themselves settled down into. For those thst know our house, Maddie is above the TV in the Lounge, and Nellie is in the top bit of the storage bags behind my bedroom door - truly bonkers!

For once the weather was kind to us on Thursday night, when the fireworks were let off at our school. Daddy rushed back from Sheffield just in time for us to go down and see them (in the dry for the first time in a couple of years). Annalise & Harvey were there, looking a bit sun tanned after their holiday to Turkey - no wonder they were all wrapped up in warm clothes as it must have felt soooo cold after the nice warm weather they'd had.

There were some really good (and loud) fireworks, but we don't know what they'll do with the Catherine wheel that didn't go off, as its a bit big to nail to our garden shed!

We all (except Daddy) went skiing on Friday, to get some extra practice in for the club championships on Sunday. Alfie skied really well, and actually enjoyed himself - amazing! Same again on Saturday morning, this time Alf had a timed race to see if he could go fast enough to get into Eagles (which is the top group - with me). He again did really well and was only 1 second too slow - needing to complete the course in 19.2 seconds, and his best time just over 20.3 - unlucky bruv! The instructors were again saying how well he was skiing, and he was only 2 seconds slower than me (but of course I wasn't really trying!).

So to the club championships, and I had to win my category again (as I'd left the cup at school!) - no pressure then. Luckily I skied really well, even if I say so myself, and did win - so no-one needs to know. My team also came second in the dual slalom race, and I won all 3 of my races. Mummy got a Silver medal in her category, so it was a good day for the Wright-Bagges.

We stood and shivered to watch the fireworks (which were nearly as good as the school ones - and free), and then went home for a lovely warm bath - ready to start another week.

31/10/2010

Boo..... Trick or Treat!

Mmmmm, did we have good weather last week while we were on holiday?, .in a word.....no. Never mind, we had a good time anyway, in not so Sunny Kessingland (in Nanna & Grandad's new holiday home. And what a home from home it is - comfortable beds, TV, central heating, kitchen, its amazing. We had lots of fun playing at the site (especially as Alf had some new roller skates for his birthday (from Nanna & Grandad), so I was showing him what to do, and he just fell over - I'm surprised he's got any skin left on his arms & hands.

We also spent loads of time (and money) in the amusement arcade, playing on these games where you try & get money to be pushed off the edge. Luckily Nanna gave us some spare pennies, and Daddy brought some along from this lady at work. we spent ages counting it all up, and there was over £30. As this was too much, Daddy took the silver coins back and we played with the 2p's.We won lots of tokens that we can exchange for prizes (although they are probably not brilliant, but we'll just have to see).

We came home on Friday to find that Daddy had been busy again, and had put down a new floor in the dining room, which he finished off on Saturday - making loads of mess & dust, as he sanded it down. It looks lovely, just waiting for a new dining table and chairs now - coming soon I think.

So for being good and staying out of the way on Saturday we had a yummy Indian tea & of course an evening of X Factor (unless your name is Daddy or Alfie - they go and watch some other rubbish!).

After race training (I totally forgot about the clocks changing & was up at the old 6 o'clock - DOH), we spent the rest of the day waiting for it to get dark so we could go Trick or Treating for Halloween. It was raining when we went out, but as you can see we looked pretty good (all except that hopeless Mummy on the end!). We came back soaked but will a good stack of goodies that had to be tested for taste & quality (of course), then off to bed as it was back to school the next day. Next holiday......Christmas!

8 Years Old

Birthday Boys

What perfect timing, the start of the school half-term holidays & Alfie's birthday - fun, fun, fun.

But before all of that, just to show that we're not just a couple of pretty faces, and that we do really do some work at School, here are our latest certificates.

So, Alfie's birthday then.... it all kicked off with an early start - 7 o'clock (which is like midnight for Mum on a Saturday!), and a wild rip, rip, rip of wrapping paper, as he attacked his presents.

He got some really groovy stuff - this really fab marble in a maze game from Robert & Rowan which is sooooo tricky, you just have to have another go. These mini steel drums from Dad that you can play funky tunes on, some money & a red Norwich kit, which is just a teeny bit too big - more like a dress than a top! We all then went to Splash in Sheringham, which is a fab pool with a massive slide and waves, which were superb - we all had a great time (especially Mum in the charity shops afterwards!)

On our way into Norwich to get KFC for tea (which Alf had chosen) we stopped at a furniture shop, as Mum & Dad are looking for an new dining table. We were in there ages, and did we buy a new table..... no, just another sofa for the conservatory instead - obvious really!!!!

So back home with a monster bucket of KFC chicken, and what a feast - DELICIOUS!

Over in a flash, Alf was now a supposedly grown up eight year old, but we had another groovy day ahead - over to see Monty, Connie, Ben, Cathering, Grandma & Grumps. Me & Mum had not seen Connie since France in January, and she's grown up so much - talking, running & playing with everything - what a great time we had.

Alf had another birthday present, a fantastic football goal from Grandma & Grumps that him & Ben spent ages playing with in the garden - our poor grass is going to be wrecked when that goes up in the garden at home!

It was also Uncle Ben's birthday (he's a bit older than Alf - 39, but obviously not as old as old-man Daddy!!!). We got him a very warm fleece for when he's in France, which he seemed to really like.

We'd better stop nattering & start packing as we are going to spend a few days in Nanna & Grandad's new holiday home in Kessingland. It sound right posh, lots of bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom.....a right home, from home - now all we need is some good weather!

So chums, whatever you're doing in your half-term holidays, hope you have a great time.

Savage Attack II

We thought that as you got older, you got more sensible (some of the time anyway!). Well, the same clearly isn't true for Cats, as Maddie & Nellie are even more bonkers than they were when they were little. Maddie has started to chase her tail - is she really so stupid that she doesn't know that its attached to her bum! Nellie just chases anything and everything, and loves skidding across the wooden floors. One thing they have also not grown out of it destroying paper lampshades. As you can see, another one has received the Maddie & Nellie treatment!

What else - oh yea, clever Daddy has made Harvey a happy boy again, as he fixed his Xbox that had broken. Alf says he was also very helpful as the chief tester, playing the football game for 3 hours (just to make sue that it was working OK - whatever!). Harvey's Dad had now brought over another one for him to fix, a PlayStation this time, so the conservatory is now full of both Wool & electrical bits - what a mess!

Saturday was a rare thing, both me & Alf going swimming at Bungay. I've been skking the last couple of times that Alf & Daddy have been, so it was good to go and have a mess around. The inflatable was really tricky (you raced each other down the sides of the thing, and it was so easy to fall off - which we did LOTS.

Another early morning on Sunday, but luckily no long drive, as the ski race was in Norwich!!!!! This was the last of the Summer season, and with Nanna & Grandad coming along to watch, we both wanted to do well. I had an OK first run, and was in second place. Unfortunately, Mummy had a disaster and skied out, so she wasn't going to get a medal. So the pressure was on me, going next to last on the second run, I did better, and was1st with one person left to ski down............THE PRESSURE. 'xxx' was going really well & I was expecting to be beaten, when she skidded & missed a gate, and I'd won. She was really sad, so I went over to try & cheer her up - what a tough game this ski racing is! Not only di I get a big medal to keep, I've got another trophy that I get to keep for a whole year - I've got so many now that we'll have to build a special cabinet to keep them all in.

Nanna & Grandad seemed to enjoy themselves & they told us all about their new holiday house in Kessingland that we are going over to stay in during the half term holidays. There is a swimming pool & loads of other stuff to do so it should be really great fun.

Not long til Alf's birthday now - six more days as a seven year old. Hopefully we'll see Monty, Connie, Ben, Catherine, Grandma & Grumps on Saturday or Sunday (the last time we'll meet the ex-Pats until we see them in France in January (hopefully in the snow).

Oh, nearly forget, Mummy picked up the biggest Pumpkin we've ever seen from someone at the Ski club, and she's going to take it to School. Daddy nearly killed himself and the Pumpkin when he picked it up. It rolled off his shoulder, just missing Grandad & anything breakable - phew.

Young Lions Roar

The weeks just keep disappearing, now less than 80 sleep til Christmas!

School rushed past in a blur of stuff, and as always most of the REAL fun was saved up until the weekend, and this time it started early - on Friday night.

We didn't even have time for a proper tea (just some still warm pizza that Mummy wrapped up for us), and we were off to Norwich to see England play football. I know, you are probably thinking, England playing football in Norwich - that will never happen - but it did, and we were there to see it. OK, so it was the younger players (under 21 years old to be exact), but a lot of them play for Premiership teams like Arsenal & Chelsea. They were playing against Romania (we had to look on our map to find out where it was - East of Italy & Hungary.

We were at the other end of the football ground, looking back towards where we normally sit which was weird, so was Harvey & Kerry - who we went to say hello to at half time.

The game was OK, not as good as a Norwich match, but thanks to Alf's lucky Green hat England won 2-1. So, if they win in Romania next week they will go to the European Championships - come on INGER-LAND.

Afterwards we learned that we were part of the biggest crowd that has ever been at Norwich's ground when everyone has to sit down. Daddy was telling us that when he used to go, he stood up in the old Barclay stand, and everyone used to get bumped and knocked around - especially when Norwich scored a goal - sounds like really good fun to us.

We had a bit of a rest on Saturday morning, then went out for some chips, and a bit of DIY shopping, as Daddy needed to do some more work on the wooden floor, which is nearly all done - just a bit of painting left to do now.

I then went off to my friend Chloe's house for a sleep-over, a later birthday celebration for her birthday, as she had to go into hospital for an operation on her eye, to stop her seeing double - weirdo! So while Mummy, Daddy & Alfie slept we were minxing around until about 4 o'clock in the morning when we decided that we had to get at least a few hours sleep - a whole 4 hours in the end - yawn.

Luckily I missed out on the ski race training, which Mummy went to, as it was soooo tough (or so Mummy says) that she had to go to bed for a lie down afterwards.

As it was a lovely day, Daddy took down the trampoline and put away the garden chairs - Winter is obviously coming! We just had enough time to pop to Reedham to drop off a travel bug that we'd picked up in Blakeney & not moved on - tut, tut.

I'm still a bit tired from Saturday, so I'm off to bed..................night.

03/10/2010

Return of the Non-Doms

Another busy week, in our predictably manic world.

Alf started his Elite soccer academy (at the school I'm going to next year), and what do you know - Harvey was there as well. So between the two of them, and his school friend Joe, they has a great time. Is this the start of his climb up the football ladder - who knows.

We also started going to an after school art club, mainly cos Mummy helps out in it (but of course we'd have gone anyway - honest). It was really fun, we got to do some oil painting on our own canvases - and we were very creative, as you'd expect.

Me and Alf both went to Junior club on Saturday morning, and an agility race (which I won). That was good practice for me as there was a race the next day at Welin Garden City - sounds posh, but it isn't really!

So another Sunday, another early morning wake up (half past five in the morning!!!!!), and in the car for 6 o'clock. Daddy & Alf were very sensible, and slept in til later. It took 2 hours to get there, but we didn't get lost & had plenty of time for open practice - lucky really as the course had some tricky lumps & bumps to work out.

The journey was worth it as I came 2nd, but got this massive trophy for winning my category over the whole season - just look a this.

Mummy also got a medal, and won 3rd place in her group for the season, but the trophy they gave her they took away again as it was the wrong one..... oops.

Alf had his own fun, and I'm a bit jealous, he went to Grandma & Grumps, and saw Monty & Connie as well who are back in England for a few weeks (so hopefully I'll get to see them near Alfie's birthday). Alf & Monty had loads of fun playing about - Monty is still obsessed with pipes and wires and stuff like that, so it looks like we'll have a plumber or electrician in the family, which could be very handy in future.

He said that Connie is a right little character now, and I won't be able to believe how much she's grown up since I last saw her. She talks loads & runs around all over the place - she even doesn't cry when she sees Daddy, which we though would never happen!

They tried to find a Geocache in Lowestoft, but after a long walk (Monty & Connie did really well), it had gone - how RUBBISH!!!

So we all got back at teatime on Sunday & collapsed in a heap, ready for bed, and another week of fun to follow.... bring it on!

26/09/2010

Does this make us Celebrities?

We're feeling a bit more alert & awake than we were this time last week (after our cross country festival dash). Its clear that news of us being at the festival travelled fast, as we got our picture on the BBC Website - how cool is that!. OK, OK, its the Hereford & Worcester local BBC radio website, but its still the BBC. As the website changes every week, I've nicked the picture, so see for yourself. Does this make us celebrities? Do you think we'll get invited to go on all sorts of TV shows, like.......anyway, we're available to open School Fete's & do personal appearances, at very reasonable rates!

School was not too tough this week (are we getting cleverer, or are they making the lessons easier?), dunno. Whatever, we at least made it through without falling asleep in class, or embarrassing ourselves - phew.

My God, Daddy had gone DIY mad. He's only just finished putting the new wooden floor in the Kitchen and he's ripped up the lounge carpet and put a new floor in there too. The carpet was completely filthy when it was taken up - if we are honest, it was all our food and mess - oops. So as Daddy completely wrecked the main room of the house, nearly giving everyone a heat attack with all the drilling, sawing & banging. The poor cats, they must be wondering (just like us) when is it going to stop?

We all left him to it on Saturday morning & went to Junior club (for the first time in a long while) and we had fun on an agility course (having to ski over / round things).

Alf did think about coming with us to our ski race on Sunday but decided to stay with Daddy instead (who was still doing the floor). He made the right choice as there wasn't much to do at the place we went skiing (which is inside an Army place that they let you specially into, so there wouldn't have been any wandering off to play - he might have been arrested or shot!

It was the shortest slope ever - my times were 10 or 11 seconds, with the fastest ones being 8 or 9 seconds - blink and you missed someone coming down. So not too challenging, but a race is still a race, and I came.......1st, another Gold medal to add to my collection & a chance of the overall Summer Season Gold as well with just one or two races left.

Mummy came in 3rd in her group, so we both came home tired, but happy. Just enough time to go and grab an Indian take away from Acle, and a fantastic spot of puddle hunting in the car - there were some massive ones that we sprayed though - brilliant!

Snodfest 2010

Yawn, yawn, yawn..... but not this time cos we're bored, just tired after our trip to Upton Snodsbury, and the 3rd annual Snodfest. This is a music festival just like the one we went to at Strumpshaw, the last time Robert & Rowan stayed at our house. After a normal start to Saturday, we were soon bundled into the car and off on a 3 hour drive to Worcestershire.

We arrived and the festival had started without us (how dare they!). No worries though as we could see the big tent from Robert & Rowan's house, and it took us only two minutes to walk over there. While Mum & Dad made themselves comfortable, we made straight for the sweet stall and were quickly spending our money.

The bands playing were pretty good, and very loud if you got too close to the big speakers. Alf thought playing the drums looked really cool, as you got to make lots of noise, and call it music. That reminds me, I wonder how Monty is getting on with his drum kit? Maybe Uncle Ben hasn't even got it out for him yet! - we'll be sure to ask him when we see him next month.

Anyway back to the festival, and after a quick tea break, we went back to watch more bands. They finally played some songs that we'd heard of, including the song that they play every time Norwich score a goal......fab.

Alf crashed & burned at 10 o'clock at night & Daddy had to take him back to Robert's house. We all stayed to the end, nearly 11 o'clock, and came home with our ears ringing from the loud music.

After a lovely sleep on the Dining Room floor (no I wasn't drunk & unable to climb the stairs - that was where we were sleeping), we had a delicious cooked breakfast, although this Black Pudding stuff that Rowan like is yuk!

As crazy Masey hadn't been out much while the festival was on, we took her out for a long walk in the afternoon, and managed to find 3 Geocaches along the way (made easier as Robert & Rowan had found them before - but they didn't spoil it for us - thanks). The Blackberries were delicious, and we filled our bellies, while some of us covered our hands!

After some serious Nintendo DS playtime, and a lovely Lasagne tea, we were back in the car again for another 3 hour drive. It went much faster this time (probably as we were asleep for some of the time). It was lovely to see Maddie & Nellie again, who were very pleased to see us. Just time for a quick snack & then time for bed & school tomorrow.

Ski racing again next week end, this time at some place called Bassingborne, wherever that is. Other than that we just want some sleep....

What a Silly Fuel

Holidays are great, but it was lovely to get back to school & see all our friends again (some of them we'd not seen for a month!). My new teacher is nice. Alfie will have to wait a see what his is like as she went home sick after the first morning - I'm sure nothing to do with Alfie, as Mummy was obviously in class starting her new job. We all had a good first week - including Mummy, which is good (but as you'll soon read, obviously had an effect on Mummy's brain!).

We came home on Friday & found that Daddy had ripped up the kitchen floor (yea that's right, one that Mummy never liked), and had started to put a new one down that looks much better - which it should for how much it cost - we couldn't believe that wood was so expensive.

Saturday was a bit of a nothing day (for us) as Daddy was still doing the floor, so we just played about a bit, got bored, and I went out to play with my friends. Mummy went to the ski club to pick up her boots, ready for the ski race in Brentwood the next day, and took ages & ages & ages. Then we got a phone call & we learned why - Mummy had put PETROL in her DIESEL car - DOH brain! See what I mean, her first week at work in over five years must have really affected her. Mummy had to get the car people to take her car to a place where they can get the petrol out so she can put Diesel in again. Two days later she is still in shock over how much it cost her, and still refuses to tell us, which means it must have been REALLY EXPENSIVE. If anyone knows, please do tell.

There was one good thing to come out of this disaster, Mummy was so late getting back that we decided to get Chinese for tea - yum.

So Mummy was sorting out her skis until after 10 o'clock at night, and we were then both up at 5:30 on Sunday morning, and driving to Brentwood at 6 o'clock, leaving Alfie & Daddy fast asleep.

The long trip was well worth it as both me & Mummy got GOLD medals in our groups (Mummy's first of the season), and I got another Gold medal in a junior team race. As an added bonus we got to pop into Ikea which was just down the road and spend a bit more of Daddy's money. We got some lovely, huge fluffy towels, some plants & pots and other stuff (as you do).

We got back completely whacked, but pleased that Daddy had finished the Kitchen floor (and it looks fab).... now Daddy, what room are you going to do next?

Snodfest with Robert & Rowan next weekend, so we'd better no have a too crazy week as well need some energy left over.

Funfairs & Fairies

What an end to our Summer holiday, packed full of great fun stuff.

First we had a brilliant time staying with Nanna & Grandad. We went and saw some Camels (didn't know they were wild in Suffolk), then we went to Pleasurewood Hills and had an amazing day (although we didn't go on the big upside-down ride this time - I didn't fancy it, and Alf is still too small - hopefully Grandad wasn't too disappointed!). We did though spend the whole day going on loads of other stuff, and we were all very tired by the end of the day. A quick visit to the beach & soon our holiday in Lowestoft was over - thanks Nanna & Grandad for a wonderful stay.

I had to get back to get some ski practice in for the National Championships on Saturday, and Alfie had a surprise for Mum & Dad -both his front teeth had come out! Luckily for him the Tooth Fairy knew he was in Lowestoft, and was able to come and visit him - but doesn't he look strange (did I look like this once? - surely not!).

So, the All England Ski Championships - wow, there are some seriously good (fast) skiers out there. I suppose I didn't do too bad, I came 6th, so no medals - but if that means that I'm the 6th best skier for my age in England, then for a little Girl from flat Norfolk that's OK. Anyway, me and Mum had a good day out at the club, and we're off to Brentwood next weekend, so there is no time to feel disappointed about it. Daddy & Alfie spent ages trying to be the first people to find a new Geocache that someone had left in Trowse (not to far from ours - which is cleverly called 'Off Piste'). They too were unsuccessful, but only because the details were wrong, so they were looking in the wrong place, so on this occasion not their fault.

Then on Sunday it was all too real - the last day of our Summer holiday. Incredibly it all started with our trip to Wales (which seems likes so long ago), and now it was September, and feeling like Autumn already. We had one last challenge, to reach 200 Geocache finds, before going back to school, and........... yes, we made it. A trip to Loddon, and a lovely walk along the river, and then through some places in the middle of nowhere, and we finally finished on 202!

Off to get our school bags packed & sorted for tomorrow when 3 people go back to School, as Mummy starts her job helping out at the school - good luck.

Force Nine from North Norfolk

What a lucky escape we've just had. We were supposed to be going camping over the Bank Holiday weekend, but everywhere was full. As we now know, we would have been camping in the wind & the rain - AGAIN!

So we mad the most of our good luck & went out when the weather was at its best (which means not raining). On Sunday we went up to North Norfolk for a spot of crab catching at Blakeney. We got a few between us (probably about 30 - no where near our record haul of 120, but we weren't there so long, as it was a bit chilly, and when it rained it came in sideways, as the wind was very strong.

We'd planned to have a BBQ somewhere but the chance of lighting a fire, and keeping it alight were NIL, so we went to a nice cosy Pub for lunch instead. With our bellies full, we went off for a bit of Geocaching, and had a really great time, although we nearly got blown off Muckleborough Hill, it was just like in Shropshire in May when we could almost lean into the wind and still stay standing up.

At it was a Bank Holiday weekend, we just had to have our BBQ, so we all went back to our house & Daddy quickly cooked everything, despite finishing of the last few things in the rain - what a hero!

On Monday we took our still damp tent over to Annalise & Harvey's barn to dry out in their big garden. Mum & Dad managed to put it up really quickly, and without arguing - amazing! We then played about at the village park,as Daddy helped get the old tiles off the barn roof. They are keeping as many as they can, as they cost £1 each, even though they are really old & dirty! - what a rip off.

By the time we'd finished playing & the Dads (and Debbie) had finished the roof, it was too late to go home for tea, so we went to the Pub for tea. Two Pub meals in two days - we could definitely get used to this!

We must go as we've got to pack our suitcases as were off to stay with Nanna & Grandad for a few days, as Mummy has got to do some training at the School for her new job - good luck Mum.

I've decided to race in the All England Ski Championships in Norwich on Saturday, so fingers crossed I can get another medal - but I know I'll have to ski my very fastest.

Well we'd better go & pack & enjoy the last few days of the Summer holidays - how time flies!

22/08/2010

Cousin Chaos!

Just when we thought Summer if definitely over, we were wrong....... we had two nice days - WOW!

Happy Birthday to Nanna, who was another year older, but of course doesn't look it! We went to the outdoor swimming pool in Beccles, which said it was heated, but it was FREEZING!!!!!! Our lips were chattering & Blue in no time at all, even though we tried to swim fast to stay warm - we'll have to go to Bungay next time as that's nice and warm, especially in the kiddie's bit.

Then, after what felt like two whole days of tidying up our bedrooms, and it seemed like everyone else's mess, Robert & Rowan came over to visit, and we had a full-on couple of days of fun.

First we went to the 'Party in the Park', in Strumpshaw (where we'd been before to see the steam engines), but this time it was just like Snodfest (the party thing in Robert & Rowan's village), with live music, a big blow-up slide, magician and disco. We had a great time, on a lovely warm Summers evening, running around and enjoying ourselves, while the Mum's & Dad's did whatever they wanted to do - which suited us!

Unbelievably, after a well loud thunderstorm in the night, Sunday was another warm day, so we decided to go to our favourite beach at Waxham. We took all our BBQ food, but forgot..... our buckets & spades..... how rubbish was that! Nevermind, we still had a good time, digging holes (with our bare hands), playing football, and while robert & Rowan put on their wetsuits & went swimming, we put our feet in and came out again....too cold. Clearly we either need our own wetsuits, or a holiday somewhere hot!

Clearly, two nice days in a row is what our Summer is all about, so no real surprise when we woke up on Monday and it was raining. No matter, as we'd already decided to go and watch a film at the cinema. As Uncle Tom was using his car, we were all going to go into Norwich on the Bus, which was fun.... but VERY EXPENSIVE. It cost nearly £20 for the six of us. We could have bought a second-hand Bus for that! Mummy and Auntie Shelly were so annoyed they are going to write and complain. As you know, I'm in the Environment Group at School, so I'm always happy to do things to save the planet, but why would anyone take the Bus, instead of their car when it costs so much - I this maybe some crazy stuff from a 10 year old, but I don't care, £20 is a rip-off! At least the film was good, and we stayed dry after we got home (as we decided not to go out and walk Mazy the Dog with Shelly & Tom) they got soaked, just like Daddy who was on his bike & came back looking like he'd had a bath!

Booooo, Robert & Rowan have gone home now, but we should be seeing them again soon, as were off to Snodfest in about 3 weeks. That's not all, as we might also be going camping this weekend with Annalise & Harvey (if the weather is nice). Unbelievably we are back to school in two weeks, where has the holiday gone?

15/08/2010

Savage Attack!

So, did we get the good weather we were hoping for.....NO. It was completely RUBBISH, we went to the Airshow in Lowestoft and got soaked (it was just like being in Wales all over again!). We could remember in previous years spending most of the time in the Sea to cool down - not this time. The planes still made loads of noise, the Red Arrows were brilliant as usual, and at least we didn't get struck by lightning (3 people did on Friday - honest). Never mind, at least we got to have a sleep-over at Nanna & Grandad's (my second one of the week). My other sleep-over was at my friend Ella's house, as it was her 10th birthday. We went swimming in Yarmouth and have a great time with the slide & wave machine.

On Tuesday night we went to watch Norwich play, and thanks to Alfie's lucky Green hat - they won, 4-1 against Gillingham. It could have been very different, as Gillingham took the lead, and hit the bar before Norwich woke up and started to play. Our favourite players scored their first goals of the season - Grant Holt & Chris Martin both got two goals. Come on you Yellows!!!!

After we'd finally dried out, although there are still some damp & stinky shoes about somewhere (I can smell them as I write this) we went on a Geocache bike ride on Saturday, only finding about half the ones we went looking for, but we had a nice time, and it was dry.

On our return home something was not quite right with one of the lights in the conservatory, but what could have happened - giant Moths?

After a secret undercover operation, we finally managed to identify the baddie - naughty or what!

On Sunday we went off to see Granma & Grumps and had loads of lovely food, as well as some really great games of football in the garden. Grumps showed us some of his books. They are really weird, one was a children's book about a Golliwog (something that we'd never seen before), who had all sorts of adventures. Nothing like the things we've got nowadays, but funny though.

We went on a quick Geocache hunt and found the clues in the local churchyard that lead us to the treasure almost at the bottom of Grandma & Grumps's garden - unbelievable what is out there (just under your nose).

We should be seeing Robert & Rowan next week, so please, please can we have some warmer weather, even if it is not Sunny, just a bit better than Autumn, that seems to have arrived two months early - we're still on SUMMER holiday & are going camping in a couple of weeks....Brrrrrrrrrrrr!.

08/08/2010

Business as Usual

It is really only a week ago that we came back from Wales - it already seems like so long ago (must be time for another holiday!).

How we manage to fit all the stuff we take into the car is amazing, especially when its all over the garden, needing to be sorted out & put away....BORING! Perhaps the car is really a Tardis (just like Dr Who's), which is much bigger on the inside than the outside, then again, maybe not.

So with the chores out of the way, it was time to get back to Summer holiday stuff, and this week we went to this thing at a park in Norwich where they had lots of free things to do - juggling & circus stuff, Rounders, face painting (I had some pretty flowers on me) and so much else that we just can't remember - although Alfie & Steven got bored, so went and played football (again!).

We went out with Daddy on Saturday (to give Mum some peace & quiet) and we went all over the place. Getting bits for cars (£50 for a bit of pipe for the engine on Dad's car - what a rip-off!), and some Geocaching. We only found two of the four that we looked four - one of them we've now found had been burned, as the place in the tree that we were sure it was hidden, wasn't burnt when the cache was last visited only last week - damn Muggles! The other one was in some crazy wilderness, with stinging nettles nearly as tall as we were, and lots of slippery slopes - no wonder it hadn't been found for a while.

It was good to see Nanna & Grandad on Sunday, who popped over from their caravan in Bungay. They said that their campsite was the busiest they'd ever seen it, and Robert & Rowan sent us a postcard from their camping in Devon, and said the same - everyone's gone camping - how dare they! Go back to your cheap holidays in the Sun & leave us to enjoy rainy England in peace!!!!!

Grandad said he thought we all looked really miserable in one of our holiday pictures, and so did someone on Facebook. Oh dear, next time we must all remember to be well behaved super-models and smile til our faces ache.....CHEESE!

Next week we've got the airshow in Lowestoft, so fingers crossed for some good weather, so we can spend two days on the beach.... we can't wait! Oh yea, how could we forget, we are going to see Norwich play next Tuesday night, so a busy, busy week ahead.

01/08/2010

Antur Cymru

We're back, from the far off land of Wales, and a very far away & strange place it is!

Oh my God, how long does it take to get there - let us tell you TOO LONG.... at least 6 hours. Yup 6 hours of sitting in a car going on & on & on. And what do you find when you get there - plenty of spectacular mountains that's true, but you also get people that speak with a really funny accent, or speak a completely different language, that sounds just like they they want to spit all the time - very, very weird.

So what did we have on our Wales adventure?

Mountains - lots (some too high for even us to climb)

Rain - definitely (one day it rained for over 12 hours without stopping - we were so soaked it looked like we'd gone swimming!)

Campsite Problems - oh yes, they'd packed some people in where they shouldn't have been & Mummy was grumpy for two whole days before we got it sorted out (by moving the tent!).

Geocaching - Of course, we logged our first real foreign caches, some of which we had to climb mountains to reach.

Walking - Every day (not quite the 30 miles in 6 days that we did in Shropshire, but well over 20, and in much more hilly countryside, so our legs definitely know all about it.

Wild Rivers - Plenty (even the one by our campsite was going bonkers after all the rain we had!)

Creepy Caves - They were actually mines rather than caves, but Alfie & Daddy went and explored some, while me & Mummy went shopping!

New Friends - Cara, Savana, Ali, Archie, Rory & Amy were just some of the people we met on our campsite and spent hours playing with on the playground. While none of them spoke Welsh, there were some other foreigners - possibly French or German (who knows!)

Cousins - We met our Cousin's Sophie & Naomi, who had just started their holiday, as we were finishing ours, for a nice walk. Lets hope you see a bit more of the Sun than we did!

So, despite the Welsh weather, which we'd expected anyway, we had a really good time, as you can see. We didn't find any Gold near the old Gold mines, but did bring back some nice crystal rocks that we found. And of course, after the long, long journey back, we got to see our Kittens again, who'd had a great time being looked after by Grandma, who'd come over to Cat-Sit them. It sounds like Grandma had a good time too, going out & about to see new things & places, and making two new Cat friends.

Well, we've put off the unpacking long enough..... back to reality.....goobye am nawr.

25/07/2010

School's Out, for Summer!

We've made it..... to the end of another School year. We've said our goodbye's to some of our friends who are moving away, so won't be coming back in September, and looking forward to seeing whether there will be any newbies. Hopefully, I can be a good example of how to behave, as you can see, I was voted the 'Kindest Classmate' in the whole of Year 5 - what an honour! I also got to collect my certificate to prove my marathon swim of 400 metres a few weeks ago - phew!

Not much else to say really, other than we're getting ready for our holiday in Wales, and it seems that we'll be trying to fit the whole contents of our house into the car - interesting to see if there is room for us!

The only other thing we did manage to squeeze in was a trip to see where Annalise & Harvey will be moving to - when its built! At the moment it is just an empty barn in a little village called Upton (sort of near to Acle), so not too much further away. It sounds like it will be really fab when its finished, but there is a lot of work to do (and they might even decide to knock it all down and start again)!

What was fun was the scarecrow trail around the village, with over 50 different scarecrows to find, and some really tricky quiz questions to answer. Luckily we had Daddy with us as he knew some of the answers, to the most bizarre questions - he even knew that the slopey-hole bit in the top of a brick was called a Frog - wierdo!

So wish us luck as we travel to the far off, foreign land of Wales, where we expect to see mountains, and rain, and who knows what else - find out when we get back.

18/07/2010

Bumber Cache Crop

Ahhhhhh, that's better - at last some rain to cool us down.... lovely.

We're getting ready for the Summer holidays at School now, bringing home artwork, and Alfie's fab Rocket, the Brundall Blaster, now looking like it wants to take-off in his bedroom! We had our last Swimming lessons (which were great fun mess-abouts), and what might have been our last Friday Soccer Stars (if Alfie goes to his advanced group, I'm not sure I'd go on my own, but we'll see).

Me & Mummy decided not to go ski racing at Tallington Lakes at the weekend. Its too far (takes over 2 hours to get there), the slope is really small (about half the height of Norwich), and we thought it was going to be too hot (which it was) - so we did the right thing.

Alfie started to fall apart on Friday night, losing a tooth in an Apple, or something - which he managed to save and put under his pillow for the Tooth Fairy.

Mummy wanted a lie in on Saturday, so we left her in bed at 10 O'clock and went Geocaching, on our bikes. We also cheated at bit and took the Car to Lingwood, to start our quest..... TEN Geocaches to do.....and we were off. First cache, first disappointment, we looked all around but no cache could be found. Were we put off.....no, we pedalled on, and quickly got round the whole of the 5 miles, with the next 8 caches successfully found. So to the bonus cache, using all the clues we'd found, but no luck - we were sure we were in the right spot, but nothing - boooooo. So we biked to the chip shop and stuffed ourselves - yum!

Saturday night saw another bit of Alfie fall off (yup, another tooth - two in two days). He was really keeping the Tooth Fairy busy, but she kindly made a return trip and left him another coin for his bloody tooth. What does she do with the mall?

Sunday was another Geocache frenzy, with my friend Chloe invited along to share in the fun..... another TEN caches to find, this time in Stokesby, near Acle. These were put in by our friends the Sollies (Curly Megs and her Mum & Dad). We started off well, the first two quickly found, and confidence rising..... then disaster (again), we couldn't find the next two, despite being in the exact spot (according to the GPS). We now know that the cache had to be moved, but the instructions we had were for the old location, even though Daddy only got them off the Internet that day - rubbish! Normal service returned for the next four, then a single no-show, before the big prize at the end, and a well deserved ice-cream to finish. Fifteen Geocaches in two days, not bad going. Now we are wondering what sort of crazy ones Dad is going to find for us to do on our holiday in Wales, which is now jus over a week away.

So, we've just got to make one more week at School, which should be a doddle, and we'll be free for nearly SEVEN weeks. The scary thought, when I go back to School I'll be in the top year of the School and only one year away from High School - how mental is that!

11/07/2010

Phew, what a Scorcher!

Oh my God, its just got hotter & hotter & hotter, until we thought we were being boiled alive in our beds! - sleep..... impossible, tired.... definitely... bring on the rain.

Not that the heat has slowed the Cats down. Maddy & Nelly (that seems to be what they are going to be called) have been just as bonkers as ever, running around everywhere & fighting with each other - all day. They have been in the garden a few times now and it was so funny to see them tip-toe carefully over the grass (brown rather than green) and check out a load of new hiding places.

Just as the weather got hotter & hotter... it was School Sports Day. Alfie really got stuck in (as you can see from the concentration with the sack & trolley!) and came a close third in his whole of year running race - he's already aiming for 2nd next year.

I had a good time and came 2nd in my race, behind my best friend Chloe (who I told I let win, but I didn't really, she's just faster). This was the day after we had a football World Cup tournament against some other schools, so we were feeling a bit tired - or that's my excuse anyway.

Friday was just so hot, but we still played football after school. The best bit - Daddy pouring cold water over our heads at the end.... lovely. Alfie has been invited to go to an advanced Soccer Skills Academy, starting in September...... have they spotted some hidden talent?, if so, perhaps we can all retire young and live off his football fortune!

So to the weekend, and the weather hotter than ever, poor old Daddy was not very well with a bad headache, so we had to go to the School Fete on our own (with Mummy of course), and what a lovely surprise - we met up with Nanna, who came to see my drama performance (very moving stuff!!!) and stayed for a lovely Fish & Chip tea.

Now, you will all be thinking, with the weather so hot (nearly 30degrees), what would you do? Go to the beach, swim in the sea or swimming pool, or go Skiing? Of course, you'd go skiing - no real choice eh. It was Norwich's turn to host the Eastern Region Ski Race, and as we'd done well in Ipswich, we wanted to do well again. Well I thought I was going to melt - it was roasting, but well worth it as in front of a watching Nanna (no pressure then) I came FIRST in my group and I think I'm third or fourth overall in the Summer League, for my age group. Mummy came THIRD (again) and it seems will have to do something spectacular to beat the other two.

Alfie & Daddy did the sensible thing and went swimming in the pool (Daddy reckons steam came off them when they got in the water - they were that hot, but I don't believe him).

Now we are both bored of this hot weather & want it to go back to how it normally is - cloudy & warm, with a bit of rain.... please.

04/07/2010

New Kids on the Block

Well, well well, what a surprise (to everyone except Mummy) we've got two new Kittens.

We saw a picture of them, and they were sooooo cute, but we didn't think we'd be getting them until after our holiday to Wales at the end of July. But then a change of plan.... a quick trip after School and the next thing.... two new 8 week old Kittens. Only one problem, Daddy knew nothing about it & was not impressed!!!

They are completely mad now (after taking all of 24 hours to settle in). They spend all their time running around after bits of paper (or each other) climbing over or under everything, or crashed out asleep as all their exercise has worn them out. That's not really surprising as its been soooo hot at our house - some nights we've just not been able to sleep, its been roasting. But we don't get to have a sleep in the day like the Cats, so no wonder they've got energy when we are tired!

We have sort of agreed names for them 'Maddie' and 'Nellie', but who knows they could still change. So we've suddenly had new jobs to do like getting their food and water ready, and of course making sure that they are played with.... as much as possible.

Its weird how quickly they've become part of the house, and we can't wait until they can go outside (as there is a whole new world out there for them to explore).

Not much else to say really, other than Daddy & Alfie went on a Geocache hunt while me & Mummy went shopping and managed to find one that they weren't looking for, instead of one they were (as they must be the closest ones together ever in the woods near Poringland. They also went to a real Roman town that was built over 2000 years ago, and some of the walls are still there - amazing.

Sunday was another scorcher, so we went to our favourite beach at Waxham, and despite putting on lots of sun cream we all got a bit Pink -ouch!

It our School sports day this week, so hopefully we'll have lots of good news on our sporting success, and more stories of the crazy Cats as well.

10 Years Old

Double Dose of Fun

Wow, what a week..... where do we begin, and hopefully it will make some sense - please do tell me if I lose it though won't you.

So, from the beginning. We'd only just got back from skiing and it was straight into finishing the packing for my school trip to Whitwell hall, and 3 days & 2 nights of fun with my school chums. We were all sooooo excited on the bus going there - the time just zoomed by, and suddenly we were there (wherever there actually was, I never really did find out). It was straight into the activities with some river dipping (trying to catch little creatures in your net and identify them, before setting them free again - sort of fishing without the hooks really). I was in a room with 4 of my friends, and we slept in bunkbeds, so for a change I decided to sleep on the bottom. We did get quite a bit of sleep, after a good chat, of course. Next day was some bushcraft, learning about the woods & stuff, and also the thing that I'd most been looking forward to.... the mud walk. After a quick change into our oldest clothes we were ready. When we saw the first mud pool it didn't look that deep..... how wrong we were. After a few steps it was up over my wellies, then over my knees, then to my waste, and finally half way up my tummy.... before it got shallower again. I was covered, and so were my friends. Did we like it....you bet. It was so good that we went round the course another two times, just to go through the mud pool different ways - awesome!

After a really cool Bat walk, and a well earned lie in, it was time to come home - just in time to see Engerland struggle their way past some other team that I now can't even remember - that's how interested I was.

Next day was not just any day, it was my BIRTHDAY - a whole TEN years old - wow, I now have to use two numbers to show my age, just like Mum and Dad - whoa scary stuff. What a lucky Girl I was, I got the fab phone I wanted, that also plays music, takes pictures and can connect to Facebook - how mental is that! It was great to see Grandma & Grumps after school, for a party tea in the garden, and they got me a fab Norwich City top - with my name on the back - check it out.

A brief return to normality on Friday, before another full on day of fun on Saturday, with some of my bestest friends over for a party & sleep-over. Just so Alfie didn't feel too left out, he had his friend Joe over as well - how kind I am! It was a really warm day & Daddy have made up a treasure Hunt at Whitlingham Park. It was just like a Geocache hunt as we had to follow clues, using the GPS and work out where the treasure had been buried. Luckily we stopped half-way for a well-earned ice-cream, and finally managed to solve the clues & make it back to the treasure - we all had great fun. While we Girls went back and customised some shoes, the boys went to KFC to get the tea - Popcorn chicken & chips - yum, yum.

Carrying on the popcorn theme, we scoffed loads of the stuff while we watched the film UP which was pretty good. We all went to bed at about 11 o'clock, and were asleep by Midnight I reckon. We had a bit of a lie in (well deserved I think, before having some breakfast & heading for the local shop to stock up on sweets - using some of my Birthday money.

The fun didn't end there as our friend Stephen had his birthday party on Sunday afternoon at Quazar (where you run around shooting people with laser guns). We had a really good time - even if I got shot more times than I managed to shoot other people!!!

We were back just in time to see the completely hopeless Engerland football team lose to Germany, and go out of the World Cup. It was a bit rubbish that Frank Lampard's goal didn't count, but they still would still have lost - they were rubbish. A quick scoff of BBQ tea, and off to bed - although whether we'll be able to sleep in this heat - scorchio!!!!. Annalise is off on her school trip this week, so I hope she has a good time like I did.

Plastic Fantastic - Norfolk v Suffolk

Another week, another England football game, another boring, boring game!!!!!

Poor old Alf was a sick boy for most of last week (or was it just an excuse so he could stay at home and watch the daytime World Cup matches)? So, just as he made a miraculous recovery (just in time to play football after school on Friday.....mmmmmm, very suspicious), we were hoping for Engerland to play well against Algeria (which shouldn't be difficult - do you know any Algeria footballers?). So did they play well and beat this team that no-one had heard of.......NO, of course not. It was another hopeless, hopeless game - one of the most rubbish ones we've seen (and we've seen quite a lot).

We all had an early start on Sunday as me & Mum were off ski racing, south of the border in Ipswich, and for the first time Daddy & Alfie were coming with us as away supporters (as it was a local derby). We were at the slope before 8:30 in the morning, still a bit sleepy, but having to get straight into open practice to get our ski legs working.

The slope was a bit slow, but both Mummy & me skied OK, and I even managed to go just a bit quicker on my last run, and finished in 2nd place. Mummy's last run wasn't quite her fastest, but she still came 3rd place in her group, and was part of the winning 'masters' (old skiers) team race. Overall Norfolk did really well, and got at least as many medals as Ipswich, so at least a score-draw.

My friend Lollipop (yes, that is her real name, although everyone calls her Lolli) did really well, she came 3rd in her very first race - go Girl!.

Daddy & Alf went off in search of a Geocache, but after walking miles (according to Alfie), they got to where it should be, and it had been Muggled - disaster!

I can't wait for next week - can you guess why? It's my BIRTHDAY on Thursday, and I'm going to be 10 years old - scary stuff, a whole decade of Edie - poor Mummy & Daddy! But before that I've got another amazing thing going on, my school trip to Whitwell Hall, when I get to spend two whole days, and nights, with my school chums, doing all sorts of really fantastic stuff - can't wait, its going to be MAD!

So next time I write, I'll be another year older, definitely no wiser, and thoroughly exhausted after two sleepless nights and all the excitement of my birthday - so if I'm making even less sense than usual, that's the reason - so there!

Green Butter Fingers

Oh yea, the football World Cup has finally started - lots & lots of football, me & Alfie are well excited. Or, to be honest, we were until England played. OH MY GOD, how rubbish were they, and against America (who can't even call the game its proper name - Soccer, what's that!). The week started so well. First, back to school & the chance to swap holiday stories with our friends, then a trip to the new dentist in Brundall, which was so much easier than having to drive all the way to Beccles, just to say ahhhhhhhhh.

So, after a World Cup warm up match, after school on Friday, we watched the first match - dull!. Then we spent all day on Saturday counting down to when England would be playing. Before we talk about the match, here's a weird one for you.Daddy spoke to Annalise's Dad & arranged that we'd pop round so he could fix Annalise's computer. So later on we went round, knocked on the door - no answer. Daddy phones Kerry, Annalise's Mum answers, and is in the house, but couldn't hear us as they were trying out a new carpet cleaner, now for the even weirder bit. While Daddy was still speaking to Debbie (who was coming to the door, their other phone rings, and its our Mummy, wanting to talk to Debbie - bizarre!!!!!

Anyway, we ended up staying round with Annalise & Harvey, having a lovely BBQ tea, and settling down to watch England play America. As you all know, everything was going well after 4 minutes (well, sort of - we were watching in some fancy HD or something & some advert came on just as England scored!!!!). Then DISASTER........ even me or Alfie could have saved the shot that Robert Green (EX-Norwich goalkeeper) let in - HOPELESS!!!!!!!! Thank God we've got Fraser Forster, he's much better.

We lost interest after that, especially when Emile Heskey missed a good chance, so we went off and played in the garden - in disgust.

Talking of gardens, just look at our vegetable patch, or out-of-control jungle to be more accurate. We're not sure what are the things we planted, and what are other things. As its very unlikely that we'll be eating any of it, I suppose it doesn't really matter.

Alfie wasn't feeling very well on Sunday, so he just laid around, while we did very little really.... boring! Fingers crossed for some better football next week. Come on Ingerland!!!!!!

Shropshire Stomp

All that praying to the camping weather Gods was worth it, as we had some lovely weather in Shropshire last week, and we've all come back with a bit of a suntan. You can see some pictures via the 'Shropshire Camping' icon on our Holidays page (just click on the UK, and then on the 'Tent' in Shropshire) - go on, test your Geography! .

Before you go getting any crazy ideas of a lazy week - forget it!, we were out walking every day. And no, it wasn't just a little walk, we did at least 5 miles every day. Yup, over 30 hilly miles in 6 days - impressive or what!

There were some near vertical climbs (or it certainly felt like that), some fantastic views from the top of the hills, and great Geocaches.

Day 1 - After what seemed an all-day drive, we finally arrived at the campsite (our third visit), with just enough time to get the tent almost up before a wild rain shower nearly knocked it down again - welcome to Shropshire! Finally, with the tent up, it was time for a well earned Fish & Chip tea, and an early first night under canvas.

Day 2 - A long, and non-Geocache walk from the campsite which got our legs ready for the week ahead. Of course, the warm-down is also important, so we started our evening with games of Football & Cricket, which became an every evening event.

Day 3 - Happy Birthday to Auntie Shelly. The day began with presents galore for the birthday Girl, followed by a really fun walk up in the hills and a lovely meal in Church Stretton, and the first of the Geocaches. That night we went all posh and had Tapas (lovely Spanish food, with lots of little things to eat).

Day 4 - Boooo, it rained all morning, so we went shopping in Church Stretton (Mummy was happy in the Charity shops) and we filled up our Geocache trash bag with cheap goodies. The afternoon was much nicer, so we went out on a short walk, and traded some of our new trash.

Day 5 - A fantastic day out in the Hills, with streams to dam and splash in, shady woods to get lost in, and great fun watching gliders being pulled into the air by a very noisy tractor with a very long cable, and one of the best Geocaches, where you have to build your own way across a stream to get to it - great fun. A yummy BBQ tea finished off a perfect day.

Day 6 - A walk through 'The Bog', which thankfully is now much drier than it used to be, because of the mines that used to be in the area. More Geocache treasures were ours, taking our total for the week to seven. That evening Alfie had some new Fottball competition, as 10 year old Olie came to stay. He was pretty good, and had some smart tricks, but never passed to anyone. One time he did just one-too many tricks, just like Wes, and Alfie just hacked him down - classic!

Day 7 - Our tired legs were persuaded on one final walk, a little 'Six-and-a-half-Miler' was how Tome described it. After a really neat Geocache find and a play in the river, it was decision time. The long way, or the short way! Mummy was desperate to go shopping in Church Stretton, so Mummy, Daddy & Alfie went the quick way back, while Shelly, Tom, Robert, Rowan & me went the long way round - phew. We all met up in Church Stretton & still had just enough energy to throw ourselves down a grassy slope in a 'Bird-Man Flies Again' style, only for Robert to cut his arm on the gravel & Alfie doing a spectacular head-plant, which nearly gave him concussion!

Day 8 - Unbelievable, it was already time to pack up & come home. While the Mum's & Dad's put everything back in the cars (why do we bring so much stuff?), we had a whole morning playing our last games of football & Cricket on the field. Then we were off, us on the long journey home, with Robert and Rowan being at their house before we'd even be half way.

One last surprise, a different route, taking us to Milton Keynes to pick up my Nintendo DS that I left at the ski slope the other week when me & Mummy went racing - what a lucky Girl!

Just enough time to do our half-term homework (nothin' like last minute stuff to concentrate your mind), and a chance to finally relax in our home-sweet-home (which has a new feature, that we'll tell you all about next week), before school returns.

There'Snow Stopping Us

Phew, what lovely weather we had over the weekend. The hottest day since last September (or so the weather person said). So, on such a lovely day, what do you do? Go to the beach, go swimming, sit and relax in the garden - NO, of course you don't - what you really do is go skiing!!!!!! But not just any old skiing, this time it was on REAL SNOW, making it even more weird, with the Sunny weather outside.

As the skiing started early on Sunday, and was quite far away, we went to see Jason, Helen, Sophie & Naomi, as they live quite close to Milton Keynes, where the ski slope is. We started our journey, just after Alf had gone skiing himself, and had a good time (in the end, after a bit of silliness), as they had a water race, where you have to collect water on the way up & carry as much of it down the slope as you can, over an obstacle course, before putting what was left in a bucket. The team with the fullest bucket at the end wins. Alfie wasn't sure which team, but everyone got soaked - mainly thanks to the other instructors spraying everyone with water from the hose - which he says way really nice as he was BOILING!

Alfie & Daddy did a bit of shopping (new swimming goggles for Alf, as his were leaking really badly last week, and he couldn't see anything!), went to MacDonald's for tea (Alfie's choice) then watched football & drunk beer - typical Boys!!!!

Mummy had a relaxing time while I played with Sophie & Naomi, we then had a lovely BBQ tea, and an early night, ready for our early morning racing the next day.

We were at the ski slope at 8 o'clock in the morning, which as you know is not a time that Mummy knows too much about on a Sunday! The first few practice runs were really strange as the last time we skied on snow was in France in January - so we weren't used to how quick & slidey it was. At least our hours of practice on plastic have been worth it as both me & Mummy got Silver medals in our groups, with the only Girl to beat me coming from the Milton Keynes team that get to practice on snow every week - so she had just a bit of an advantage!

Alfie & Daddy spent their day getting things ready for our camping trip to Shropshire next weekend (yup its another School holiday already!) and sorting the kitchen out ready for a builder to come and knock a hole in the wall, between the kitchen & dining room, for some more of those glass bricks to be put in. Lucky Alf also got to go swimming in Bungay, and got to go on both the big slide & the bouncy inflatable that they float in the pool - I'm really jealous as its great fun - we'll just have to craze Dad to take us both - soon.

Me & Mummy were exhausted when we got home, after a long & very hot drive - luckily Daddy was just then lighting the BBQ, so we had two outdoor feasts in two days - something we could definitely get used to.

So, we've just got to get through the next 5 days and we'll have a whole week of camping fun with our Cousin's Robert & Rowan - lets just hope the weather is OK (not too hot, not to cold - just right would be perfect!!!

More Monkey Business

Maths Monkey has been joined by some new Monkey friends - two so far, each very different, one even looks a bit like an alien. Keep making them Mummy - there are still lots of classes waiting for them. We'll try and get them to stay still for long enough to have their picture taken, so we can show them to you.

Otherwise it has been a pretty quiet week - school, swimming and football, although we had a nice surprise when Daddy came to watch our football on Friday afternoon - shame neither Alfie or me scored a goal (Alf says that one of his shots did go in, but the Soccer Stars coach said it had just missed).

Oh, I nearly forgot - we had a new guest arrive on Thursday - Pushka (Grandma & Grumps Cat), who we are looking after as they've gone on holiday, and she can't obviously go with them. Grumps thought that we'd hardly see her, but she's been in & out through the catflap all the time, and has even started to let us stroke & fuss her - and she's got such an amazing loud purr.

We heard that lots & lots of people went to see the Norwich players with the League One cup on Thursday night, but we were swimming, so we just had to look at the pictures - never mind, we'll just have to wait until the next season - in the Championship.

Saturday morning skiing was a bit different, we had to work in teams to make up a skiing routine, sort of like a dance on the slope, with us skiing in and out of each other, and in Alfie's group they had him pretend to push over all the rest of the group - very clever & lots of fun.

Alfie & Daddy went off to buy an new BBQ, as our old one broke, while me & Mummy went shopping for food. We all got back & watched the FA Cup final - Chelsea v Portsmouth. No surprise, Chelsea won, but only 1-0, so it was quite close.

After a lazy morning on Sunday, we went on a Geocaching walk in Ludham (on the right side of the river this time) and managed to find four treasures. Two of them were brilliantly hidden - one in an old snail shell, the other in a hollow bolt. Well done to Mummy & Alfie for finding these.

We got back and Daddy cooked a yummy tea on the new BBQ, leaving us just enough time to do our homework, play some football in the garden & have a final bounce on the trampoline, before another weekend came to an end - night everyone..............

Medals & Monkeys

It was great to see my friend Chloe again, after she got stuck on the other side of the world - we had so much to catch up on. Alfie's class football team (The Puffins) did really well against an older class team (the Dodo's), but in the end lost 1-0. They could, and probably should have got a draw, but some poor finishing (not Alfie) let them down - never mind. Alfie played well & the massive crowd (well 20 or so people) didn't seem to put him off too much.

Fortunately no repeats of the near drowning last week, and no longer any excuses about his goggles as he's got a new pair. On Friday, even though its May (and we are going camping in a few weeks), it was pretty chilly after school, when we had to chose whether we wanted to play football indoors or outside. Guess who decided to stay in the warm, and who went out & got soaked......... wrong, if you guessed that Alf came back wet & muddy, it was me - what a softie, staying indoors!

Saturday was a progression race at the ski club so we managed to get Alfie along with the promise of some money if he got a good race time. He looked pretty good in the warm up, and was given vest number one, so would be first down!!!!!! All was going well until half way down, when he went sideways & landed in a heap - and stayed there. After a few seconds of him not moving, people thought he might be hurt, so ran to see if he was alright - which of course he was (just a bit embarrassed). So they scraped him up and carried him off. Lots more persuasion followed to get him to go again - nut he did and despite not exactly following the right course all the way down, he got a couple of pretty good times.

His last time was actually so good, he got a Bronze medal, earning himself £5 from Daddy, and was fast enough to go up to the next group - well done Alfie. His day just got better as we went looking for new trainers, and he picked himself a pair of groovy Black & Silver ones. I couldn't find anything I liked, but got them on Ebay later at home. And what became of the £5, well a good part of it was spent on a big bucket of candy floss, which we shared while watching Ice Age on DVD - yum, yum.

We all went over to see Nanna & Grandad on Sunday and had a lovely time, going for a nice walk on the beach - one we'd not been before - Kes-ing-land, which is where the Africa Alive place is, which we have been to, and its great. There was a good Geocache on the walk, and for the first time someone had left some sweets (which you shouldn't do), so we just had to take them & eat them.

So having used our legs, we had a game of Rummikub to use our brains, and Alfie & Daddy won, with a bit of help from the Maths Monkey that Mummy had made - and very smart he is too. Mummy made such a good job of this first Maths Monkey that the teacher now wants one for most of the classes in the school - have fun Mummy!

More Silver(Glass)Ware

Mmmm, not a lot to say this week really, unless of course you count Alfie looking like he was going to drown in his swimming lesson - don't try & drink the pool, there's too much!!!! Obviously he survived (just) if you believe his story. All it was - his goggles started to fill with water as he swum on his back, and it trying to clear them he made things worse, rather than better - although he managed to splutter his way to the side, rather than having to be fished out. Better than Harvey who again refused to go in - booooooo.Other than that after-school incident, everyting went by in a flash - even Soccer Stars seemed to be over in no time.

I did finally get to speak to my friend Chloe, who is finally back home from Malaysia (10 days later, and after nearly 24 hours on planes - NIGHTMARE!). She had a good time, as she'd gone to see her Dad who works out there, so got to see much more of him, and missed nearly two weeks of school. We'll have to get together soon & catch up properly.

Saturday, and the first ski race of the season came to Norwich, and it was part of the National championships (so all the really, really good skiers would be there). Me and Mummy were there really early, and Mummy was extra nervous (she'd obviously not had enough Coffee!). Anyway, I left her to worry on her own & spent the day messing about with my skier friends, and of course doing a bit of racing. So, how did we do? We'll, I came 2nd in my category, and have something different to add to the collection, a nifty glass trophy.    Mummy was in 3rd place in her group, until disaster in her last run where she missed one of the gates and didn't finish - better luck next time (which could be on snow - indoors of course).

Daddy & Alfie had a Boys day, messing about & playing football, and as we'd all worked hard, we had a lovely Chinese for tea - yummy!

On Sunday, I was going to Pleasurewood Hills with Annalise & some of her friends, for her birthday treat - incredible, she'll be TEN years old on Monday - Unbelievable. As it was a Bank Holiday weekend, of course the weather was cold, windy & rainy, but not enough to put us off. It was even colder when we got there, and some of the rides were not working as it was too windy - booooo. As we needed to warm up we went inside, only to learn that they were going to shut the whole place down for the day - mental or what! So, what was plan B?, well a trip to a lovely & warm Pizza Hut & on to the Cinema to see Furry Venance.

I was lucky enough to stay for a sleep over with Annalise, and although I told Daddy i was going to try and stay up all night, I only made it until about 12 o'clock - what a bunch of lightweights eh! So the next day we were far more awake than normal, but the weather was still so rubbish, that most of the time we stayed indoors and listened to the wind, rain & hail - GREAT!

Can't wait for tomorrow as I'll be able to see my other best friend Chloe again, and Alfie has got his class football match at 1 o'clock, so a big crowd is expected on the field - no pressure!

25/04/2010

Everyone's a Winner

A week of winners, as you'll read in a minute, but not everyone. My friend Chloe is stuck on the other side of the world and can't get a plane home for another week, so she'll have missed two weeks of school, and had a 4 week holiday - lucky or nightmare, I'm not sure. Alfie's frind Farys had to get a car most of the way back from Spain, which took days & days & days - boring!!!! All these problems because of some ash blowing out of a Volcano in Iceland (aren't Volcano's hot, and isn't Iceland cold, or did they just choose a silly name for the place?. If it is cold, why isn't the snow putting out the Volcano?????

Anyway, to the winners. First Alfie and his Brundall Blaster rocket. As we thought, no-one came close to beating it, and his reward - 4 credits (which is nearly half way to a prize, as you only need 10), so it was well worth the effort.

Second, my holiday documents were really good, especially the picture on the front of the Passport, drawn by Mum, and the plane ticket that Daddy made, which almost looked real - my reward (not quite as good as Alfie's, but still 2 credits, which I'm pleased with).

Last, but definitely not least, Norwich City won the League One title, as they beat Gillingham 2-0 on Saturday. Alfie decided to go to his friends party, so I took my boyfriend Jo along. No point in wasting a ticket is there! The first half was a bit boring, with no-one really looking like scoring a goal. At least the 2nd half was better - Norwich scored two goals, but only after their goalie Fraser had made a couple of good saves. At the end they said that the players would come back onto the pitch, if none of the supporters ran on - so what happened.... of course, people ran onto the pitch (those naughty people in the Snake Pit!!!!). So we clapped & cheered as the players and the manager walked around the pitch - looking very happy.

That was about it really, as we didn't do much on Sunday, just a bit of tidying up - yawn! So back in the old routine again, with school again tomorrow, so we'd better get an early night - for once!

18/04/2010

Rocket Man

Booooo, the holiday is nearly over - but as we've had such a good time, we shouldn't really complain.

No sign of anything growing in our vegetable garden yet. Not sure if this is normal, or if we've killed things already! We've remembered to water the garden regularly, so it can't be that - perhaps we'll have to try singing to the plants - that's supposed to make them grow, isn't it?

Back to full effect on the trampoline, with the footballs whizzing around the garden (and over the fence) very often. We used to go round and ask for them back, but we've decided to give that a rest, before they get fed up with us pestering them.

So instead we had a great couple of days with Robert & Rowan, well one day with Rowan as she wasn't too well the other day. First we went Geocaching, but only found two of the four we were looking for as they were really tricky. The end one was brilliant, the person had built this special wooden puzzle thing that you had to work out how to get into - which I did (of course). The next day we went to catch some Crabs in Oulton Broad (it wasn't like wells - we only caught five Crabs), must still be a bit cold for them - bless! Then we went into the nearby park (which we hadn't been to in ages) and had a good time playing around. Then a quick visit to Pets Corner, and the chance to cuddle some baby Goats (who were lovely, until they got hungry and tried to nibble your clothes, your hair..... anything basically.

We then had to turn our attention to our HOMEWORK....... yup, working during our holidays (isn't that illegal until you are 14!). Maybe  I'll ring Childline & see what they've got to say. Alfie started his first, and he had the most exciting project - build a rocket. He had Daddy to help, and some instructions to follow, to make a rocket out of a kitchen roll tube. Was this good enough for Daddy....... no, we went to a carpet shop & got a giant cardboard tube and he & Alfie made a 3ft high rocket - Alfie's Brundall Blaster. We all helped to paint it, and I have to say it looks very impressive - just one problem, how are we going to get it to school?

My project was to make a passport & travel documents for a pretend visit to Greece (as we will be learning about ancient Greece next term). Lucky that it wasn't a real holiday as we would not be going anywhere, thanks to the Volcano in Iceland. What a complete  nightmare, for all those people who couldn't go on holiday, or like my friend Chloe, are stuck on holiday (in Malaysia) and can't get back. It looks like she'll miss going to watch Norwich play on Saturday (where they can be League One champions if they don't lose). Mummy did a great job making a copy of my old passport (maybe she should start making fake documents to bring in some money & keep herself busy!)

We finished off the holiday with a trip to see Grandma & Grumps and had some fantastic games of football in the garden - Alfie's skill against my sliding tackles! As it was a nice day we also went out for a walk, and managed to find a new Geocache that had only been set up two weeks ago, and were one of the first few to find it.

So, there we are, another holiday over, and incredibly only this week did the ski lifts in Foux stop working - and to us it seems nearly Summer. Back to School, and a chance to see what everyone else got up to & whether anyone can beat Alfie's Rocket!

Young Green Fingers

Hope all our chums are enjoying the Easter holidays - its been pretty good so far, especially now that the Sun has decided to shine.

We met up with Harvey & Annalise & went for a Geocache walk (not one of Daddy's most successfully planned trips), as some of the caches that we were supposed to find were actually on the other side of the river, and we didn't have a boat! Never mind, we still ended up finding five by the end of the day, so not too bad.......eventually.

We've also been involved in some genius recycling - turning our old sandpit into a vegetable garden! Daddy sneaked out to a local field and came back with a huge bag of lovely soil, so hopefully our plants will grow big & strong. Nothing too fancy to begin with, some Lettuce & some Peas, I think. We'll certainly keep you updated as our plants grow. You never know, we might actually eat some!

Otherwise its been quite quiet(ish).... lots of outdoor fun in the close, playing Football & Cricket, so we should be keeping our fitness levels high for any outdoor games & running races at School when we get back.

We went to see Nanna & Grandad who had just come back from a holiday in Wales (where we might be going in the Summer). They had a nice time by the seaside, although it was a bit chilly to do any Sunbathing (unlike yesterday & today which have been lovely). We had a great game of rounders / baseball in the garden with both Alf & me scoring some scorching Home-Runs.

As we were getting stuff out of our playhouse (as best you can, as you can't really get into it), we realised that with the nice weather, it was obviously time for the trampoline to come out. So we pestered & pestered Dad (who spent most of the day under his car - fixing some split pipe, or something - although he seemed happy enough)...... until he gave in and we all helped to put the trampoline back together. The first few bounces were a bit scary, but we soon got used to it again, and the flips and crazy tricks started to come back, just like we'd never stopped bouncing - fantastic!

We can't wait to see our Cousin's Robert & Rowan this week - who knows what fun & frolics we'll get up to - tell you all about it next week.

Happy Easter Fellow Chocoholics

Yum, yum, yum - one of our favourite days of the year - its Easter!

We've had quite a bit of pre-Easter feasting, with the highlight being a School Easter egg hunt (which I helped to set up - we had to be there at 8:30 in the morning - poor old Mummy was still asleep!). There was also a hot-cross bun stall - lovely.

The next day - Good Friday (we're not sure why this Friday is particularly good - most of them are pretty special, as its the last day of the school week), perhaps its cos its only 2 days until Easter eggs. If it is then it definitely gets our vote as a good Friday! we saw our cousins Sophie & Naomi, who were on their way to stay with Nanna & Grandad. It was really nice to see them, and play some games on the Wii, before they had to finish their journey. Aunty Helen was also looking forward to Easter as we know she likes her chocolate, just like us!

The weather was supposed to be really rubbish on Saturday, so we'd decided not to go skiing. Proving again that these adults know nothing, it wasn't too rainy, so we went on a walk (with Geocashes of course) to Cantley, where they make sugar. Well, you'll never believe just how stinky making sugar is, sor something so lovely and sweet, to smell that bad - unbelievable. And people who live in Cantley have to smell the yukky, poo smell all the time - gross! It did do one thing - make us walk a bit quicker than normal, so the two miles or so soon went by. We already knew that one of the Geocaches wasn't there, but there was another one that we just couldn't find. Are we getting worse at finding them, or had this one been Muggled as well? As the Geocaches were left by our friends the Sollies (Curly Megs, Steve & Dee) I'm sure they'll be quick to tell us.

Then to the big day itself - Easter, and the all-you-can-eat Chocolate feast. Beginning with a little breakfast snack (of chocolate), we waited patiently for the Easter egg hunting fun to begin - and as you can see, lots of fun we had , with Mummy leaving some excellent clues - maybe she should leave some Geocaches! We raced around the garden, solving the clues (with a bit of help from Dad) and filled our bags with a fantastic haul of de-licious chocolate goodies (and some fab little teddies than Mummy had customised) - sort of a Pimp-my-Ride for Teddy Bears!

We should be seeing Annalise & Harvey tomorrow (hopefully Kerry will also join us, although he's been a bit poorly - Man Flu, or something Mummy said - sound nasty. Then we'll have to start thinking about what to do with ourselves, as we are on holiday for the next couple of weeks. We'll be seeing our other Cousin's, Robert & Rowan in the 2nd week, but what to do next week - any ideas?

A Tale of Two Matches

Oh my..... what an emotional rollercoaster ride this week has been - how is a 91/2 year old supposed to cope with it all!!!!

I know, its all a bit dramatic, but its not every day you come within 1 goal of playing football in London. Yup, that's how close we came, one goal, that the other team scored right at the end of their last game, that meant we finished third, and didn't get to go to the finals - we were gutted! We all tried really hard and played pretty well, apart from against the team that won - we lost that game 4-0 (but we won't talk about that).

So, with that disappointment still fresh in our minds, we headed back to school & tried to be all jolly for Brundall's Got Talent. Just like Britain's got talent (except the judges, who were really some of the teachers, weren't as nasty as the one on TV). I was in a drama performance which went pretty well, but we didn't win - double disappointment. There were some really good acts - people doing Gymnastics, Karate, as well as singing and poem / story reading.

It was good to get to the end of the week - have a good run around on the field at Friday night football, where Alf scored a scorcher of a goal. He got the ball passed to him, and took one touch & whacked it, straight in the net - what a rocket!

Me & Alf did some dual slalom racing at the ski club on Saturday (that's where you race side-by-side through the poles) - really good fun. Its amazing how many people know Alfie at the club, and he hardly ever goes - he's obviously got his own fan club! Luckily we both came away unhurt, which not everyone did - there were some spectacular crashes, with a couple of people having to be helped off the slope, looking pretty dazed.

So our football result had been rubbish, with last minute goals but it worked out nicely for Norwich who beat Leeds in the big game on Saturday afternoon. We didn't think they'd win but super Chris Martin got a goal right at the end of the match, so its looking good - 11 points ahead with only 8 games left to play. Stephen is going to watch his first match next week, so lets hope he doesn't bring them bad luck!

Alfie had Mum & Dad all to himself on Saturday night as I went to watch Nanny Mcfee at the cinema with my friend Chloe, and then stayed over at her house. I was ready to stay up all night, but we finally went to sleep about 2 o'clock (which was actually 3 o'clock as they were playing about with the time again - still don't understand what all that is about.

Better go to bed now as my late night is catching up on me, and I need to be lively for the last week at school - only 4 days, before the Easter holidays & the chance to eat our body weight in chocolate.!!!!

Smart New Sofa

Ahhhh..... that's better, we are both refreshed and much more alert after a few nights of well earned rest (following last week's adventures), that I'm sure you've read about.

School-wize a bit of a nothing weeks for me, but Alf.... tut, tut, he was a naughty boy & had to write a sorry letter to one of the helpers, as he had been rude, and not listened to her - Boys eh, so out of control!

Saturday, another ski race, another 1st place medal (although I have to be honest & say that as there were no other junior racers in my category, I could have gone as slow as I liked & still won - but you've got to be in it to win it!!!!!

With it definitely feeling like Spring now (we bike to school most days, so it must be), we had a tidy up in the garden day, and it looks much better - just needs to grass to be cut, and then patched up & it will be almost respectable - good work Mummy.

Daddy mostly watched, as his back is still sore after his operation. He was off work all week, but Mummy says he was still always on the computer, or his phone, doing something to do with work! Is this what its like when you are grown up - always at work - where is the fun in that?

Mummy has been talking about it for ages, and now its arrived - no, not a new pet (that's got to wait until after the Summer holidays, at least), a new sofa, and a lovely comfy brown leather sofa it is too. One minute the old blue one is there, the next, a new brown one appeared - very nice. Of course, there will a food ban for a few days, but that will soon pass, and we'll be back to TV feasting pretty soon. What about the old sofa, well that will be going to help someone who can't afford a new one, have a still nice sofa in their house. At the moment it is in the conservatory - but luckily, its not staying there for long!!!!!!

Must dash, last minute preparations for Brundall's Got Talent, and some football practice, for our tournament. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Sleep-Over Saturday

Yawn..... no, not this time because of a boring, doing nothing week - but a lack of sleep, which usually means..... yup a sleep-over, or more accurately, a lack of sleep-over. It was my friend Becky (the really good footballer) birthday party - another 10 year old friend, unbelievable. We didn't quite break my record of 5 o'clock in the morning, but it was after 3 o'clock before we went to sleep - after the time we got up again when we went skiing - how crazy is that! I didn't wake up until about 10 o'clock which was even after Mummy, which must be a record!

Not to be left out, Alf had a sleep-over at Stephen's house (he thinks they were asleep by just after nine, which in Stephen's house is well late. Not surprisingly Alf was the last one to wake up, at about 8 o'clock which is far more sensible than Adam & Daniel who'd probably been up for hours by that time. I heard that Daniel was awake at just after half past four the other Sunday morning - which also woke their Dog up. No chance of lie in after that!!!

So with both me & Alf out of the way, Mummy went ski racing (in the dark). Well, not actually in the dark, they did have the lights on (or I assume they did). Skiing in the dark with just a head-torch to light your way - could be interesting. Have I just invented a new sport? Mummy did pretty well, despite crashing out on her first run & was the sixth fastest girl of all - not bad of someone her age!!

Where was Daddy while everyone else was having fun? Well as you know he has a bad back which hurts a lot of the time, so he went into hospital to see if they could help make it a bit better. I'm not sure what they did (and I'm not sure Daddy does either) but at least he was fast asleep when they were doing it. So everyone came home on Sunday (including Daddy who will have to take it easy for a week or so, as it is very sore where they messed about with his back). Hopefully it will be better than this person!

We'd hardly got in the door, and sorted out Mummy's Mother's Day card & present (weren't we organised!) and we had another surprise - Nanna & Grandad came over for lunch. It was lovely to see them, and we're sorry that we weren't our normal smiley selves, we were already getting soooooo tired. Nanna & Grandad were saying that they are going on holiday soon, to Wales. They'll have to tell us all about it when they get back, as we might be going there in the Summertime.

Must go, before I fall aslee.......p.

We're Football Crazy

Unbelievable, a whole Sunday & no rain - was it the first one this year?. So, our prayers were answered, and what did we do.... play football in the close most of the day - not the most interesting thing ever (especially for Mummy who was moaning about being bored), but we enjoyed it.

It finished off a feast of football which started on Friday afternoon with our soccer stars - outside in the mud, it was fantastic. Alfie's sliding tackles were awesome!

We then went to watch Norwich play on Saturday against a team from Yeovil,  who were pretty rubbish & Norwich scored three goals & they didn't even have a proper shot on goal - poor Fraser must have been bored & freezing! All our favourite players scored - Wes, Grant Holt & Chris Martin. We have worked out Norwich's secret - it's Alfie's Green Hat. Now you may be thinking we've gone mad, but listen to this. He was wearing his lucky hat when the game started, and they scored a goal after less than 2 minutes. He then took it off until after half time, and they didn't score again. He then put it on again (after Daddy told him it was lucky), and they scored two more goals in the next five minutes!!!! Don't tell anyone yet, but we are sure the hat has go hidden powers & must be worth a fortune - just a shame we haven't got tickets to the game against Leeds! We drove to the football with Grumps who came round after putting some of his books into an auction in Acle. We thought all the auctions were on Ebay these days - actually taking things to be sold, so yesterday!.

Grumps told us that Grandma had hurt her back so wasn't able to get about much. Hope you get well soon Grandma, and if you need to talk to someone about bad backs, both Nanna & Daddy seem to be experts.

We've got a bit more information about the next bit of our football competition, which is at the end of the month. If we were to win again, we'd have to go to London to play against teams from all over the South of England - how mad is that!. Not only football, but I've now been picked to run in a cross-country race at some posh private school outside Norwich that according to their map has a toboggan track - now that is just showing off!!!!!!

28/02/2010

Girl Power

You are not going to believe it - we won our football tournament, and are through to the finals in a few weeks time - amazing. Best of all, I scored two goals! Our team was a mixture of Boys & Girls (I was the youngest Girl in our team), and we played games against five other local schools, and didn't lose a single game. At the end of the last game we were all dancing around, just like they do on TV. The games were played right near to Norwich City's ground (but not on the real pitch - that would be far too big for us)

That was the most exciting thing of the week (by far), and if we're honest it was another pretty dull week. The weather is just so rubbish at the moment. The only thing we can do is get all dressed up & go skiing, cos you don't really feel the rain. Alf came along to the wannabe racer session on Friday & did really well. He was very quick, and with some regular practice, he could be as fast as Mummy - although not me of course!

Sunday's race training was really, really fast (thanks to all the rain) and me & Mummy were having some really close races. With the proper races starting in a couple of months, there could be some more medals coming our way - fingers crossed.

One last thing, we looked after Stephen's Dog Molly for a couple of hours (as his two brother's were having a joint birthday party & he didn't want to go). Molly is a complete nutter, just like Robert's Dog Masey really, a little Black ball of madness. She spent the whole time running around, exploring, and looking for things to chew - including feet, which fortunately didn't hurt but was a bit  yuk! This certainly hasn't made Daddy anymore keen on having a Dog, so I think we can forget about that. So it'll have to be a Cat or Rabbit - but not until later in the year, as we've got camping to do - maybe over the border into Wales this time.

Hopefully next week will be a bit more interesting, or at least a bit less rainy - pleaseeeeeeeeee.

Nothin' Doin'

We were hoping that our week off school would be fun packed & interesting....... but it wasn't. The weather was so rubbish, that some days we didn't even go outdoors. Even when we did it was so cold or windy that we were frozen in 5 minutes & had to come in again. So you think we are going soft eh...... well to prove you all wrong - we went to the beach, and got our feet wet in the Sea (by accident of course - NOT).  Thanks to Nanna & Grandad for a nice time when we went to see them in Lowestoft. Luckily Alf has something to tell everyone - that he can be sensible & hard working at school (and now he's got a certificate to prove it) - well done Alf.

With all this time to fill, its been really lucky that the Winter Olympics has been on TV, as we've got to watch some crazy things they have in the Olympic games now - unbelievable! Some of them are just plain strange - Curling being an example. If you haven't seen it, what can I say - people throwing stones down an ice-rink with other people sweeping the ice with a broom - honestly!!!!

Then you have the sports that are clearly just there to kill you - Skeleton (the name obviously indicates how you are going to end up!). This is just a grown up version of lying on a tray and sliding down a hill - at 90miles per hour - completely mental. What is even more mad, an English Girl came first & won a Gold medal. Where does she practice? We'll have to keep an eye out for her on Mousehold Heath the next time it snows!

Finally, some real ski racing - Skier-cross, 4 people skiing together very fast, over jumps, and able it seems to get in each others way & make them crash - some of the wipe-outs were spectacular. Maybe we'll have to have our own version down Champons next Winter - first one to the bottom wins!

Back to School - a bit of a relief really & a chance to catch up with our friends. I've got a football match against another school on Thursday (I was picked rather than volunteered) and I'll let you know how I got on next time.

Farewell Floyd

Another sad announcement - our Black & White scaredy Cat, Floyd has died. Just like Lilly, he was 20 years old (which is about 100 in Cat years), so he'd lived a long, long time. It was very sad (again), but this time we were expecting it. He was eating less & less (which is very unlike Floyd) and for the last couple of days he just lay around, and didn't do anything.

Mummy was really, really upset and I was glad when we'd buried him, so we could all stop feeling so rubbish. Both our Cats are at the end of the garden, so we need to pick two special plants to remember them by.

What a really rubbish end to a quite fun week. I got to show my class the skiing video, which they really enjoyed, and couldn't believe how fast we all skied - maybe they should come to the ski club and practice, which I think Alfie's class are going to do before Easter.

We also had a fab last day at School before our half-term holiday, showing the other classes the work we'd been doing since Christmas. Alf had been doing mountains, so had to dress up in his ski gear, and Mummy dressed as a ski instructor & a Yeti (scary stuff). My class had been studying the Beatles, so we'd made bright coloured tie-dye tshirts & played music from the 60's. My favourite Beatles songs are Yellow Submarine, Help & Hey Jude - is it cool or sad for a 9 year old to like the Beatles?

After a quick ski on Saturday, we had Annalise & Harvey over for tea, and had Fondue, not once but twice. First a meat fondue, then our favourite (chocolate), with fruit & marshmallows dripping in chocolate - bootiful!

A trip to see Grandma & Grumps on Sunday, and the chance to shoot some stones with our catapults. We thought that one of our targets was a street light, only to realise that it was a CCTV camera! I wonder whether we are now on Norfolk's Most Wanted List?

Not sure what we are doing next week. Hopefully a few days out, which we'll let you know about next time.

So for the first time in our lives we are pet-less - what will we have next? Bye,bye Floyd, sleep tight, love you lots.

Back to Life..... Back to Reality

Did we really go on holiday, or was it just a dream...... Unbelievable, it already seems like weeks ago that we were in France, not days.

It was nice to get back to school & see all our friends (and tell them all about our holiday). We helped Daddy with our holiday project for school (doing some French speaking for the video & choosing which bits of our snowy adventures to show everyone). Alf got to show his class on Friday and they thought it was great - especially the bit where Alf has a crash! His teacher liked it so much they want to show it again next week, when they do a presentation about mountains - cool. I am showing my class next week, so I hope they like it as well - fingers crossed.

As promised last week, some pictures of our skiing in Allos. Sorry it took so long - even I had to agree my room was a mess, so I cleaned it up. Mummy & Daddy can stop nagging me now!!!!

Spooky news - it seems that there is a first day curse on Chalet Vallons. Not only did Kerry break his leg, but one of the next guests had a bad crash on their first day & had to be taken to Digne (where they spent two days in hospital!). While talking about Kerry's leg, it seems that the French doctor (who seems to drink more wine than Mum!) didn't put a big enough plaster on his leg, and it really wasn't doing much good. The English doctors have decided to take his plaster off, and told him to just hobble about! - he could have carried on skiing after all - wimp!!!!!

Something else that I'm sure we will be writing about in the future - Stephen over the road is getting a Dog. Now, we're not good on the different types of dog - all we know is that Robert & Rowan's dog is a Cockr Spanyl. Stephen's dog is a Labro-doodle, whatever that might be - we'll just have to wait and see.

Finally, before I go and have a well deserved afternoon nap - yes a nap. I was at my friend Octavia's 10th birthday party disco until 10 o'clock last night, and didn't get to sleep until nearly midnight, so I'm rather tire...........................

What a Cracking Time We Had!

Oh my god, our holiday is over already. We looked forward to it for so long, then before we knew it, it was finished - boo hoo.

What a fun packed & eventful week we had, as you'll soon learn. What is it these crazy grown ups say - 'no pain, no gain', well we certainly felt some pain - getting up at 2 o'clock in the morning!!!!!!  We were at the airport soon after 5 o'clock & amazingly it was full of people - we thought they'd hardly be anyone there. So we were flying to France by breakfast time & in France before lunchtime - even though we 'lost' an hour of time somewhere (we still don't understand. daddy has tried to explain, but our heads just hurt!).

We didn't have long to wait for our taxi drivers to meet us (they were a bit shocked by the amount of stuff we'd brought with us, but somehow managed to stuff it all in). They didn't exactly drive slowly up the mountains, zooming around the bends - making both me & Alf feel a bit spewy!!  It was nice to see Allos & Shoppi again, and we soon got to say hello to Ben, Catherine, Monty & Connie - who all seemed very pleased to see us. Unpacked & lift passes sorted, we had an early night (we had been up since 2 o'clock remember), ready for the ski-fest.

Day1 - No sooner had we got some snow on our skis (on our favourite run - Champons, of course) when disaster struck. Annalise & Harvey's Dad skied into a bank of snow, expecting it to be soft, and it wasn't. He fell awkwardly and hurt his leg. He was carried off the mountain by the piste patrol in one of their orange sledges - nice. He then got to see our taxi driver again, this time in his other job as the local ambulance driver!! When we got back to the Chalet later, we learned that he had broken a bone in the bottom part of his leg, meaning that his skiing was over before it had started - nightmare.

Day 2 - We were all taking things easier after yesterdays accident & spent the day pottering about on some of our favourite routes, just so everyone could get their confidence back. We did venture all the way to the top of the mountain in the afternoon, but it was very cold, so we didn't go up again - brrrrrrrrrr.

Day 3 - A lovely blue sky day for our trip to Foux. Kerry hobbled along with us, as he now had some groovy crutches to help him get around. The skiing was really good fun, although the funpark was not as good as last year, we found something even better - a SkierCross course (which is like BMX racing on skis). It was a fantastic track of jumps, bumps and curvy turns - AWESOME! We had a lovely lunch and a look around the shops (where Alf bought a toy gun - well in a French ski resort, what else would you buy!).

Day 4 - We were all feeling more confident (especially Annalise who'd started off being really unsure) and were now tackling some of the more tricky slopes. We all got to ski on Le Vallons, which is what the chalet is named after (it means little valley). Me and Mummy went off on our own and skied the longest, and Daddy says best, run in Allos - Valcibierre. It is really long, and very steep in places (at one point you look down & think 'I can't get down there') - but we did and it was fantastic. It was our night to cook our dinner, and while we didn't get any meat for a fondue, we at least got some chocolate and had a delicious chocolate & fruit fondue - yum, yum.

Day 5 - In the groove now. Lots of trips to the top of the mountain, skiing really fast and finding some really long & twisty tracks in the woods. Plenty of spectacular jumps - not all of them landed!!!!. Took Dad down Valcibierre and he was really impressed with how well I skied it. Alfie was really skiing well, and we often had to wait for Annalise & Mummy to catch up!

Day 6 - The last skiing day already (mad). As we'd had such fun on the SkierCross course in Foux, we decided to try the one in Allos. The only reason we'd not gone on it before is that is on a Black run (the most difficult sort their is). It was now or never, so me & Alf went for it, and guess what..... we did it! It was brilliant. Getting to it was steep, the course was mental, and the rest of the Black run was just CRAZY!!!We now feel ready to tackle anything, and so will any non-skiing chums, with the help of our learning to ski video that we're making for our school project - coming soon to a screen near you!

Another earlier than usual start for the trip home, although not the middle of the night again - phew. Another rollercoaster ride doen the mountain in the taxi, and into the airport with just enough time to check-in, get through the security stuff and walk slowly to the plane with out crippled travel companion. Soon back to lovely Luton, on the bus to the carpark and home... to a very whiney Floyd, who made it clear that he wasn't happy at being left.

So there you have it, another Ski Adventure is over. Kerry must have set a record for the most broken bones of any Chalet Vallons guest!

Sorry but the photo's will have to wait until next time, as the camera is at the bottom of a pile of stuff I've still got to sort out, and I've got to get ready for School & do the video project - busy, busy.

Happy Birthday.... Mummy

Hooray, it was Mummy's birthday last week (bet you can't guess how old she was!), and we had a great time at the Panto - double treats!. Robin Hood was fab & really funny - even though I still don't think its really a Panto. The baddies were really mean & nasty, but the goodies won in the end (as we expected!). Thanks to Nanna for taking us to the theatre, and it was lovely that you stayed over, so that we could see you again in the morning.

Most of the snow had gone (except in our close), so we went back to school and all had lots of snowy stories to tell each other. Lots of sledging, but only one other person had gone skiing. The playground snowmen were now snow blobs and looked very sad, dirty & icy - after all our hard work as well.

Lucky that Mummy went out skiing on the night before her birthday, as that gave us the chance to wrap up her presents - phew. Mummy's birthday, was a pretty normal day (for us anyway - off to school & swimming), but we did try extra hard to be nice, and we had Chinese for tea (Mummy ate Duck with pancakes & sauce - poor thing!). We just had our usual of rice, noodles & prawns - yummy. Mummy got some really nice things - some clothes and hair things, like shampoo & stuff, that smells lovely - I'll have to try it). So with our bellies full of food, it was off to bed with Mummy a whole year older. Just Dad's next, then mine, and I'll be 10 - Yikes!

Only a week to go now to our ski holiday (and that 3 o'clock in the morning wake up - great!). There still seems loads of snow & there has even been some Sun - fingers crossed for just a bit more fresh snow before we get there and a week of lovely Blue-sky days. We've started to get our clothes & things together, and as usual there is loads of stuff that we have to take. Hope the taxi's that will take us to Allos are big ones, as they will need to be!

I nearly forgot, how rude, Alfie & Harvey passed their Junior Club assessment really well and have been put in Kestrels, which is the 2nd group, not the first one - well done Boys, now expecting some really groovy skiing on the slopes next week. We should have some really good stuff to show you all when we get back as we've been asked by our teachers to do a project on holiday, on how people learn to ski - and we want to make it really funky.

So, that's all for a couple of weeks. Obviously we'll be thinking of everyone, hard at work, so think of us, skiing down the mountains - its a hard life sometimes being 9 & 7 years old!

10/01/2010

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow....

Wow, what a surprise 2010 has already given us..... 2 more days off school, as the teachers couldn't get to work as there was too much snow. I wonder what they do in all the places that really have snow - like France. Do the children get the Winter off school? - nah, shouldn't think so, they are probably just better at coping with it than we are! Anyway, what a bonus, two days of snow filled fun, first outside in the close with a massive snowball fight with the Young boys. Some of the slats on the walls were still there TWO days later! On Friday we went to the ski club, that we'd secretly learned was opening early, and did a bit of skiing, but mostly we went sledging, and it was sooooo much fun - a really massive laugh.

With all the snow, we didn't think for a minute that Norwich would still be playing football, but amazingly the game was still on (one of only SEVEN games in the whole of the country!) - even most of the Premiership games were called off, what softies they must be. So, after an early morning ski (fantastic on some more fresh snow, we put on layer after layer of clothing and went to watch the football. On the way we stopped at Morrison's to get our supply of sweets, and saw Grandma (who gave us some French money to spend on holiday - thanks Grandma). Luckily we we right near the top of the stand, so couldn't feel the wind, and we were actually not too cold - Definitely not as cold as some of the people closer to the pitch, who must have been freezing - especially when it started to snow! We must be lucky for Norwich, as we've still never seen them lose. They won 3-1, against Exeter, who travelled for nearly 12 hours to get to Norwich. No wonder they weren't too good! Alf wore his fantastic Norwich hat (one of Mummy's creations of course, and had lots of people looking at him - they obviously wanted one - maybe Mummy should make some more & sell them!)

My day of fun was not quite over, as I had my friend Annie's swimming party. While Alf, Mum & Dad went for a slap up tea at McDonalds, I had a great time on the giant inflatable. We all got home after 8 o'clock, and it was straight to bed for me, I was wrecked!

Was Sunday as day of rest - not likely. Up and out by 9 o'clock, for some ski race training, which was really good. The snow wasn't as nice as Saturday, but at least it wasn't the plastic matting! Daddy & Alfie came for a ski later, along with Annalise & Harvey, and we all had fun in the snow until we were ready to collapse. Luckily they were doing Sunday dinner at the club so we decided to stay & have some tasty food - just what we needed.

That's about it, before we go off to see the Panto that is, yup yet another outing in out fun packed weekend. We are going to the Theatre Royal in Norwich, with Nanna, to see Robin Hood, which I never knew was a Pantomime, but never mind, I'm sure well have a good time.....oh, yes we will......

Happy New Year

Hello 2009....just

Phew, we are completely worn out - our bodies are suffering from hours of training on the WII - anyone that says playing video games all day makes you fat, definitely hasn't got a WII, or doesn't try hard enough!

Our friend Stephen has been round our house even more, and the other day was playing on the WII (with us) before Mummy was even up!!. We've both got our best games - mine is Mario-Kart and I've beaten everyone so far. Alfie is a great boxer (no surprise there), and has now reached professional level - his hands & legs move so fast when he's playing its amazing.

It was quickly the last day of 2008, and we were wondering what we were going to do, as we usually saw Annalise & Harvey (and this year was the same & different). We all met at the ski club & went on the snow tubes, which were really fab fun & really fast. We still had some energy left so we went skiing (not finishing until 10:00 at night). Off to the drinks & food upstairs, followed by some Karaoke (I had to look this word up as all I knew was that we'd sung some songs - Mamma Mia of course, to some music, with the words on a TV in front of you.) Me, Mummy, Annalise & Debbie sang a couple of songs, but the boys were too scared, and didn't do any.

Suddenly it was midnight, and there were pictures of the fireworks on the TV which looked amazing. We all had to do this funny dance with crossed arms, a bit like the hokey-cokey - then about 5 minutes later Alfie fell asleep, and we all had to go home, and to bed at nearly 1 o'clock in the morning!!!!!

A well deserved lie-in later (we didn't wake up until 9 o'clock), it was time for some New Year fun with curly Megs and her Mum & Dad. We had a great time on the WII, and I was able to show everyone just how good I am on Mario-Kart (again). A slow return to reality now - Mummy at the ski club and School homework - where did Christmas go?. Happy New Year to all our chums.
