30/12/2012 Merry Christmas |
Ho, Ho,Ho... Merry Christmas |
YES......finally, it was Christmas. We'd obviously been good (enough), for just about long enough, as we got some lovely things. We both ended up getting really hyper on Christmas Eve, and neither of us thought we'd get to sleep. I think we both finally crashed out at nearly 11 o'clock. I don't think Mum & Dad were too disappointed at it meant that we didn't wake up until later than normal, and we kindly let them sleep until about 7:30 (see, we can do nice!). With Mum & Dad safely with Coffee in their hands, we set to work on our presents. Alfie was well pleased as he got his Xbox Live membership, and some headphones so he can now talk to his friends while they play 'death-stab-kill' games online - Boys eh! I got some fab new Blue Converse trainers and some new Fat Face clothes, as well as some money to go shopping with. I think for the first time we could remember, we were on our own on Christmas day, and had a huge feast of a lunch, with a massive Turkey & all the roast Potatoes & veggies you could eat - we were stuffed, and hardly ate any of my fab cake. We didn't even leave the house for the whole day. On Boxing Day we went to California (check us out - how exotic!). I know, you've already worked it out, it was California near Yarmouth, and on a breezy Boxing Day morning, far from tropical. Dad even managed to trick us into a bit of Geocaching, but a 5 star difficulty one was just too much for our brains to cope with & we gave up almost straight away. Sadly, Norwich didn't beat Chelsea, but they only lost 1-0. Never mind, they only get to play Man City next!!!! Then the plague returned to claim its next victim - Dad this time, who spent two whole days in bed. we even went to check up on him a couple of times to see if he was still alive, and he was..... just (according to him anyway). I don't think the rest of us were 100% well, and we didn't do too much. Lots of slobbing about in pj's, watching tv, and playing on the Xbox (with Stephen from over the road spending as much time in our house as his!). We then had the 2nd part our of Christmas, with a trip to Grandma & Grumps, and another slap-up feast, and more lovely presents. Alfie got a new football & an XBox game, and I got a lovely cushion / pillow & a gift voucher to spend when I go shopping - brill. So a massive thank you to everyone for our presents, and we've still got Nanna & Grandad to see on New Years Day (assuming we are awake - as I think we are visiting Annalise & Harvey on New Year's Eve, so no idea what time we'll be going to bed). Hope you all had a lovely time too. |

Pre-Christmas Plague! |
Oh great, just a week from Christmas & we're ill - how rubbish is that! Mum was first to get the lurg, starting to feel grim on Monday, and got worse as the week went on. She must of been ill as she didn't go to work. I started to feel really sick at school on Thursday, and as Mum was still unwell, Dad had to leave work & pick me up. I went to bed & Dad went to work (in the Dining Room - on his laptop). Even Alfie didn't escape, he was sick everywhere (including over one of my School books - thanks bro!), and he didn't go to school on the last day of school either - what a bunch of sicko's. Dad was the only one to survive, and he bravely went to work all week, and was planning to go in on Christmas Eve as well - dedication!!!! Just to show how tough us Wrights are, I was roller-skating just a couple of days before being ill - with my football team (which was great fun), and was skating again on Saturday afternoon with my friends, as thanks to Dr Calpol, I did feel a bit better. This roller skating, wasn't just any skating, it was a onesie party, so we all had to come in ours - just look at how cool we all looked. Dad needed to stop off at the shop on the way home - but I chickened out and stayed in the car - there is skating, and shopping, two very different things! Alfie had a marathon Xbox session with Stephen while we were out, and Mum was in bed (still not very well). Dad went Geocaching in the rain while I skated - totally mad if you ask me! On Sunday, I went to work (yup work).... well, actually I helped with bag packing in Sainsbury's to help raise money for our football team. After THREE hours we were exhausted (and amazed at how much some people were spending - one person spent nearly £500!!!). Dad & Alfie went swimming while I worked (booooo), and Alfie swam 150metres, which I think is his personal best. Another boooooo, Norwich's 10 game unbeaten run came to an end, as they lost 2-1 to West Brom. Never mind, who knows they might beat Chelsea on Boxing Day (although they just slaughtered Aston Villa 8-0, so that doesn't seem likely). Just 2 more days til Christmas, so just keep up that good behaviour just a tiny a bit longer..... |

So Sad |
Only 10 days to go until Christmas now - hope you are all continuing to be on your best behaviour. I know its tough, sometime I just want to punch Alfie, but I know I can' - so I just wrestle him & manage to get a few rib-digs in - sneaky eh! We couldn't believe it when we heard that loads of kids (younger than us) had been shot and killed, in their School. At first we thought it was some crazy made up story, but we now know it wasn't - unbelievable. Me & my friends have talked about it & we just can't work out why someone would go back to their old School & just star shooting people - it just doesn't make any sense. I didn't know just how many people got killed by guns, until my friend sent me this picture! I though America was a nice place - Disneyland & Florida.... if we go there, will we come back alive? I had two cross country runs at school, which were pretty nasty. Who thought up such a crazy thing, definitely not my idea of fun. On the first run I didn't feel too good (maybe something to do with not having any breakfast?), so I didn't do very well. At least I had a chance to improve, a few days later. I remembered to have a good breakfast & it made a massive difference. I was over 2 minutes quicker and finished in the top 20. Next time I'll be even quicker, as I've decided not to stop & wait for any of my friends to get their breath back, as I could of gone on, when they needed to stop. I don't even want to talk about my football on Saturday, it was embarrassing - I honestly don't know how many goals we lost by, but it was at least 14 - 1 (a complete nightmare). There were no excuses this time, we had a full team, but we were rubbish. Alfie had his first Saturday training, and his old friend Farys came along and might be joining the team - which would be good as he's an awesome defender. Talking about defending, we went to see Norwich play against Aston Villa on Tuesday night, and it looked like they'd forgotten how to defend. In the 2nd half they were nearly as bad as my team, and ended up losing 4-1, which was pretty bad as Paul Lambert (our old manager, is now Aston Villa's manager). At least they'd sorted themselves out on Saturday & they won 2-1 against Wigan, which means that they are now 7th in the league, and haven't lost in 10 league games (only Barcelona have a better record in the whole of Europe!). Dad dragged us out on our bikes on Sunday for some Geocaching (boring!!!!!!), but at least we got some fun-time after, with a trip to Bungay swimming pool, and the inflatable, which we had almost to ourselves - great. |

Murder Mystery |
Another week, another cooking lesson at School. As I said last week it was going to be Macaroni Cheese, which was ok - not my favourite (and as I cooked it, I can say what I like). I'm not sure what I will be cooking next, but I do know that I've got to cook two meals for two people in the style of a particular country. I've chosen Italy, so It'll be something like Pizza, then a Pasta dish of some sort - Tuna maybe. not very adventurous, but at least I'll eat it. Hang on though, don't Italians like ice-cream. Maybe one of my dishes can be an afters!!!! So, to the murder mystery. Me & Alfie got up on Saturday, both expecting to play Football (more that in a second), and we had a crime scene in our house, right at the bottom of the stairs. Before any of the evidence could be messed with, we got a photo of the scene, and then went to look for our suspects! Soon we had them all rounded up (all it took was a shake of the food tin!), and we started to question them, but they weren't giving anything away - clearly our Cats have a Code of Silence! Luckily Dad cleared up this mess, and neither of us could be tempted into having a few more feathers for our pillows - thanks Dad! My turn to miss out on football - boooooo, as my match was cancelled as the pitch was too muddy. So, with my football cancelled, and Alfie's first Saturday training session also called off (what a surprise), we thought we had the morning free - but no. We were made to work like a couple of slaves, clearing all our own mess up around the house - outrageous! At least things got better in the afternoon. I went to a bowling party with my friends (didn't do too badly - nearly got 100 points & didn't come last). Meanwhile, Alfie was roller-skating with his friends Joe & Farys, as it was Joe's 10th birthday. When Dad came to collect me we both got a real shock - Norwich had won away at Swansea 4-3, incredible. Me & Dad had a quiet night to ourselves as Alfie had a sleep-over at Joe's & Mum went out for a meal at the Football Ground (but didn't see any players, cos they were still on their way back from Wales). Alfie's Sunday match was moved to the afternoon, so we had a lazy morning (me & Mum were going skiing but we didn't wake up until 9 o'clock, so it was too late to go). Grandma & Grumps came over at lunchtime, and while Grumps had some quiet time to himself (although we though he got loads of that at home!), Grandma came with us to watch Alfie play in his Cup game. They played the 2nd best team in the league, but not playing (or training) for 3 weeks really showed & they were 3-0 down at half-time. Things got a bit better in the 2nd half and Blofield scored, then had a great chance to get another, but the ball just wouldn't go in. Then, just after Alfie had accidentally elbowed one of their players in a tackle (who had to go off), he was hacked down just outside the penalty area, and had to go off injured himself. He has got a tasty red scrape & bruise on the side of his leg, so I reckon it must of hurt. Even though it wasn't Alfie's best match, he must of made a difference cos after he went off they let in two more goals, so in the end they lost 5-1, and are out of the cup! We got back and watched Man Utd get a lucky late goal against Man City - booooooo, and see Liverpool score late against West Ham, to go above Norwich in the table - but they are still 12th, which is pretty good. Now only 16 days to go til Christmas, and we still haven't got a tree or anything, so I reckon next weekend is going to be hectic. |

They are Just Complete Snow Fairies |
Booooo, I'm a Celebrity.... is over for another year?, but lots of critters & gunge, right up to the end - fantastic. At least the X Factor is still going, and our favourite is still in it - xxxxxx, what a voice. So, as you've guessed, it was another week in front of the TV. Well, what else can you do - football practice is cancelled cos the playing field is flooded, and there is no proper match this week. At least I didn't play for a reason, last week it was too windy for the Boys to play, now there were about 10 flakes of snow on the ground, so the match was called off again. Both times they were playing away, so I suppose it wasn't their fault - but they are still a bunch of softies (in my eyes). Me & Mum were disappointed that there wasn't more snow as we went skiing, and it made it nice and fast. It was even more fun as they had a skier-cross course laid out with jumps and turns - fab fun! We can't say we've got more snow than Allos, as Dad said that they'd had the first snow at the chalet. That reminds me, I don't know what we are doing this Winter. Normally its all sorted by now, I'll have to remind Dad. Alfie was soooo disappointed, as again he was in his full kit, about to go in the car when it was called off. I don't know when they are going to play all these matches, they'll still be playing in the Summer holidays at this rate! At least Alfie got to watch some football, even if he didn't play any, as Norwich were on TV, against Sunderland. Amazingly, they won again - 4 home wins in a row, and now 8 games unbeaten - pretty impressive (although Sunderland had loads of chance to score in the 2nd half - they missed an open goal, which Alfie reckons even I would of scored!). School is getting more fun again as we are doing some proper cooking again (always one of my favourites). Last week it was spag-bol which was pretty tasty, and everyone agreed - maybe just a bit more seasoning & basil next time though! Macaroni Cheese next week, so I must ask Dad to get me some ingredients. Finally, and how you you not all have noticed - its December. Only 23 days to go, and we can make sure we keep on track thanks to my One Direction & Alfie's Sonic Advent calendars - thanks Nanna. So now is the time to be extra good, to make sure that you don't lose out on any present! Its only for a few weeks, so you know you can do it! |

Boys are Just Football Fairy's |
Are you lovin' I'm a Celebrity....?. We are - guaranteed fun every night, with all those bugs & critters. The crabs seems the worst as they always seem to nip, when lots of the others are just a bit gross. We can't blame them for not spending a night in those boxes with all those creatures, as you wouldn't get any sleep - the Boxer bloke had the right idea and quit straight away, came back to camp & had a good sleep - genius! We had someone different take our football training on Tuesday & we were definitely a bit more organised....but what would happen on Saturday? Surely it couldn't be any worse than last week - remember we lost 13-1. Alfie's football training was cancelled again, so would that affect them in their cup match on Sunday? The rest of the week flew by, and it was the weekend again - and luckily it wasn't raining! We were playing Bungay, and had our full team (and a couple of subs), so we had a chance. We were definitely playing better & I was in midfield and making some good passes (even Dad said so). At half time it was 1-1, which was pretty fair. Our manager was really pleased with how we were playing, and so were we (much better feeling than last week). Then incredibly we took the lead, and with just a few minutes to go I ran onto a great pass and just had the goalkeeper to beat.......I took my shot........and it went over the bar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't have too long to be disappointed as we had another change within a minute, and we scored again, and won 3-1. It felt great, and I soon forget all about my miss, until Dad reminded me - SIDE FOOT into the corner - alright, alright! Mum was in Beccles with Nanna, so we had to entertain ourselves all day. Alfie needed some more new trainers, so we went into the City, and OMG it was busy - people EVERYWHERE. Luckily we got his shoes, and an Xbox game that he was looking for (with some of his birthday money), so it wasn't a wasted trip. On Sunday everyone had places to be: Alfie to Football, Mum to Skiing, Dad to work (yup on a Sunday), and me to my friends Hannah & Rachel's birthday - all at the same time, tricky eh! Then our plans were ruined, as with Alfie in his footy kit, in the car & about to leave, we learn cos of the very windy weather that the game had been cancelled - ahhhhh, poor Boys, a bit of wind and they can't handle it - we played the day before..... pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sadly (for Mum) that meant she couldn't go skiing, as Alfie didn't fancy just sitting around at the Ski club for over an hour. Dad took me to my friends & then went to work (which turned out to be a long day, nearly 10 hours, as there were some problems with the systems, or something). I went bowling, which was a real laugh, especially cos the Birthday Girls wore their One-zies (very brave). Then we went back to their house and had a fun time just messing about. At least Alfie didn't spend all day on his own in the house, he went round to his friend Joe's and they played Xbox. Alfie now wants the On-Line thing - Xbox Live or something, so they can play against each other over the internet - whatever next. Anyway, gotta go as the X Factor results are about to start, then it'll be I'm a Celebrity..... both un-missable - see ya! |

Some You Win, Some You Lose (Badly!) |
School was more of the same - until Friday, when we got to wear what we liked, cos it was Children in Need day (did you notice we talk proper now - not Pudsey Bear day, that's for little Kids!) I made some biscuits for my friends - not to sell, just to eat (why not eh!). Alfie was more brave & went to School in his PJ's. He did have some normal clothes on underneath, or he would have been a bit chilly. He took his punch-ball to school, and had a game where you had to punch it to the ground 3 times in a row to win a prize. Of course, Alfie had to show everyone how it was done - but not everyone could do it - but they had fun trying, even a couple of the teachers! We watched the stuff on TV, on Friday night, and we learnt all about the people who need help, and definitely are not as lucky as we are, so we must remember that the next time we think we're having a rough time! Also one of our favourite shows is back on - I'm a Celebrity... We don't know who any of the people are, but its funny to see them having creepy-crawlies tipped all over them - gross! Saturday football was a nightmare - hopefully as bad as it gets, here's why:
So, we lost 13-1, yup THIRTEEN goals to ONE. We've got to practice on the basics more, just being able to pass it about like the other team did - that's how hopeless we were. Never mind, I'm already thinking about next week. At least we got some lovely Chips to warm ourselves up & Dad finally got rid of some old clothes to the charity shop, that had been in his car for weeks. We thought that Norwich winning against Arsenal the other week was as good as it gets, but we were wrong. They only went and beat Manchester United 1-0, incredible. Hopefully they'll still be playing well when we go and see them in early December, against Aston Villa in the Cup game. The sad news of the week was that Peter from next door died. He was 91 years old and was still driving himself around less than a week before he got ill. Mum was really nice & invited David round for tea (he's the one that looks after our Cats when we are away). We played Rummykub, and even though he said he'd not played for ages, he still managed to win some games - sneaky! On Sunday, at least one of us had something to cheer on the Football field - Alfie's team got back to winning ways, after losing the last two matches, and finally won 6-3, although they we losing twice, and the other team hit the post & the bar, so the score was a bit unfair really. Alfie played quite well, but didn't get man-of-the-match for the 3rd week (even though he set up 4 of the goals). Alfie was Mr lazy in the afternoon & didn't do anything. Mum had a snooze & me & Dad went out on our bikes in Mulbarton, getting some Geocaches. It was sooooo muddy, at the end our wheels could hardly turn, but we had found 10 of the 12 caches we looked for, so pretty good going. Now my bike is the cleanest its been for ages as Dad had to put the hose on them to get all the mud off. Amazingly, I've not got any last minute homework to do this Sunday night, just some art by Wednesday, so I'll be watching more I'm a Celebrity.... - fantastic! |
11/11/2012 |
Bingo-tastic |
Mmmmm, the normal routine returns - early starts (in the dark), getting home (just before dark) and a good soaking running between classes - must be Autumn / Winter - oh joy! A bit of a nothing week at School really, just the usual stuff - last minute homework, just to annoy Dad, a bit of footy practice - Alfie's cancelled again - not a happy Boy! At least the weekend came to rescue us from complete boredom, and it started early, on Friday night, with fireworks at Brundall school. Luckily, it didn't rain, and wasn't too windy - still some of the fireworks got blown into a big tree & exploded just off the ground (which was pretty spectacular). Again, it was a really good display - all the usual colours & loud bangs, with a well impressive finish. Saturday morning football (of course), and for the second time in 2 weeks we were playing Attleborough - weird. We played much better, and at half time it was still 0-0. Our goalie, Kate, made some really good saves, and we had some good chances as well. In the 2nd half they got a lucky goal that deflected in off one of our players. Then near the end, I was running with the ball and just got shoved over - free kick, just outside the penalty area. Hannah took a brilliant free-kick & it was heading into the top corner of the goal, when their goalie somehow got a hand to it & kept it out - we were gutted. We lost 1-0, but everyone was so pleased with how we played, it felt like we'd won. On Saturday night we went and played Bingo, to raise some money for our football club, and we had a great time. Alfie said he was getting really tense when he only needed a few numbers to win a prize. Unfortunately, neither Alfie or me won anything, but Dad won a box of chocolates (that were nearly all eaten before we'd finished playing). We really want to play again, even though Mum got a bit bored towards the end, especially when they were drawing the raffle prizes (which again we didn't win anything in). Even though it was a late night (asleep at about 11.30), Mum woke me up just after 8.00 in the morning, to go skiing - OMG! Dad & Alfie went to Drayton for his football match, and had an interesting journey as someone had given them the wrong postcode - DOH! Everyone got there on time, but unfortunately they keep on losing as well, beaten 5-1. Alfie got man-of-the-match again, for the second game in a row, but he would have given that up for a win. The other team had a couple of good players, and clearly had been practicing, which we know Alfie's team haven't been doing (and its starting to show - so everyone's saying). No swimming this weekend, just a load of tidying up & homework, about the Hajj, which is a pilgrimage to some place called Mecca - interesting, but strange. Me & Alfie are going to work extra hard on our football skills this week & hopefully at least one of us will have a winning story to tell next week - fingers crossed. |

Loads of Treats - No Tricks |
Hope everyone had a good half term holiday (even if the weather did its best to completely spoil it). Our friends Annalise, Harvey, Bethan & the twins went to the Lake District, and went out walking (in the rain), but as a treat went to see the new James bond film - Skyfall, which they said was really good - I'm sure Dad will find a dodgy copy somewhere & we'll get to see it (between the heads of the people in front of the screen!). Alfie had his overdue Birthday meal out, and me & Mum got to go too. Not to Zaks though, as planned as they were full at 6 o'clock in the evening & we'd have to wait over an hour for a table - no way! Instead we went to Fatso's, which was just a nice. I had a lovely burger, and Alfie had some ribs (which were massive - but he still ate them all). Of course we still had room for ice-cream as well - yum, yum! Being honest we really didn't do much with our time off. One day we didn't even change out of our pyjamas all day - lazy or what! Me & Mum did some shopping, Dad & Alf played some football (and Xbox). At least our old friends Saffron & Sammy came round to break up the boredom. The only real highlight was Halloween, and probably our best haul of goodies ever! I went out with a few of my friends and we walked around half the village (and I ended up with a bag full of yummy sweets). Alfie went out with Jo, and didn't get quite as much stuff (although he didn't walk nearly as far). Dad stayed at home and reckons he answered the door nearly 20 times, and even had to use some of our sweets (that were already in the house) to give away, otherwise he would have run out!!!! Less than a week later & most of them have already been eaten - no wonder we didn't eat all of our tea some days - oops! At least at the weekend we finally did some exercise to work off all those sweets. I played in Attleborough on Saturday & we played well in the 1st half and were only losing 2-1. I had a good chance, running onto a long pass, but my shot was just wide - damn. We changed a few players at half time, and it wasn't then so good, and we lost 4-1, in the end. That was just the start of the action, as we then visited Attleborough, got some lunch, visited some charity shops (of course), found a couple of Geocaches (one sad one that was put in a spot where a WWII aeroplane crashed killing 7 people who were only in their 20's). Then, to finish the day we went to Windham swimming pool and spent an hour & a half in the pool, and on the inflatable, which was really excellent. Even better, I was able to go in the Spa (hot bubble pool) with Dad, as it was for over 12's (Alfie only got to put his legs in). Sunday, and me & Mum went off to the skiclub for their club race day, and Dad & Alf went to football - both of us in the rain. Alf was soaked before the game even started, but had a good game - getting the Man-of-the-Match (again). Sadly, he didn't have his shooting boots on either & just like me put his shot wide when he just had the goalkeeper to beat. His friend Jo was again great in goal & made some superb saves, so at half-time it was 0-0. Shame was that despite some good chances for Blofield (which they didn't take), they finally lost 2-0. At least Norwich are doing better than both our teams. An unexpected win against Spurs in the cup, then a home win against Stoke - now unbeaten in four games - wow. Even better, the next round of the cup is against Aston Villa, and our old manager Paul Lambert - which will be his first time back at Carrow Road, will we clap or boo?, whatever, we've just got to be there to see it. Meantime, me & Mum were racing in the slalom race & doing pretty well. Dad & Alf then came along for the afternoon & Alfie raced in both the Giant Slalom & Dual Slalom races & did really well. He was most pleased that he beat Oli G, from his class (even though it was by less than half a second). Alfie now want to get into ski racing, so looks like it'll be Friday nights at the club as well now - Mum will be there full time! We stayed for the fireworks which were really good. Then just enough time for a quick tea, bath & last minute homework (I don't know why we always leave it to the last minute, but we do - and it makes Dad really cross!), and School starts again tomorrow. Next holiday Christmas - bring it on!!!! |
28/10/2012 Happy Birthday 10 Years Old |
Double Figures |
Suddenly Alfie is all grown up (well maybe not) - he's now a whole 10 years old, so now unless he makes it to 100, he will now have to use two numbers to tell everyone how old he is (am I good at Maths, or what!). Alfie's birthday was on Tuesday, but cos I'd be at Football training & Mum at Skiing, we had his birthday tea a day early, on Monday night. And, as an extra special treat he was allowed to open most of his presents early as well, otherwise he'd have to wait until after 9 o'clock in the evening before everyone was there. He was a really lucky Boy, getting a really funky watch, that magically curls round your arm, as well as lots of money that he is already thinking about what to spend it on - not sweets though! He also got a TV for his bedroom, which finally means I get the Wii in my room, and Alfie gets his XBox in his, and Mum finally gets the TV back (sometimes)! On his real Birthday, when me & Mum went out, he was going to have a yummy burger with Dad at Zaks, but it ended up as a bit of a disaster (but a bonus for me!). First, Mum was late getting me to Football (as usual), so it didn't leave them much time - then the road to the place was closed for road works, and it was miles to go around. So, instead of a bootiful Burger, they had chips in the car (although they were from his favourite chip shop). The bonus for me - we are all going to go to Zaks next week during half-term. I had a strange day on Thursday, we finished school at lunchtime, but then I was back again at teatime to help out with the open evening for people who will be coming up to High school next September, when I'll be in Year 9! I didn't get home til after 9 o'clock but luckily I didn't have School the next day, so I had a lie in (while Alfie didn't). That gave me plenty of time to get ready for our joint Roller Skating party at Funky Monkeys, when 14 of us all went mad on wheels! It was awesome fun - everyone had a real fun time, and I'm really back into skating again - glad my boots still just fit. Last week we said we didn't have any football this week, but I nearly did. At the last minute it was cancelled as we had too many injured players (lucky really as the weather was horrible - Rain & Hail (ouch, that's gotta hurt). Alfie had his 2nd party in 2 days, this time swimming with his old mate Farys at Yarmouth, so me & mum went shopping while they swam - a good bit of Girly time! The fun just kept on coming, on Sunday me & Mum went Skiing (well I skied while Mum sat and did some tests or something, to make sure she can still teach at the club - no pressure then!). Me, Alf & Dad then went off to see Grandma, Grumps, Monty, Connie, Ben & Catherine. I think its fair to say they were pleased to see us, and we spent ages chasing around and having a laugh (until Alfie got trapped in a dark bedroom & went a bit spakko - blame Monty, not me, crazy beast. He got some more great Birthday presents, a baseball bat & ball from Monty & Connie, and some of the XBox games he wanted from Grandma (so that'll be more hours in his bedroom then). Good to see the Norwich didn't lose against Aston Villa, and their old manager Paul Lambert. Looks like they should of won as Aston Villa had a player sent off, and their goalie made some really good saves - never mind. So, now we just need to think about what we are going to do in the holiday's. Dad's got some time off from Wednesday, so we've just got to keep ourselves entertained until then. Whatever you are doing, have fun! |

Goals Galore |
You've probably guessed, you are going to get more Football stories. We hope you aren't getting bored by it all, and honest, when we do some other stuff we will tell you - promise. For the first time in weeks, we both had practice in the week, and it was better than before, cos - we were on time (no Car trouble as Dad drove me), and it was more organised, so we spent less time messing around, and more time doing proper stuff. Alfie got to go to Goals for the first time this season (which is a 5-a-side football place, with a net right across the top of the pitch so the ball can't get booted out - clever. No sleep-over's this weekend, so no excuses for either of us not being full of energy - and so it was. On Saturday, we had to drive all the way to Diss (and be there for 10 o'clock), so of course we left Mum in bed! We were playing Scole, who we actually beat earlier in the season, so we knew we had a chance. Unfortunately we only had just enough players for our team, so no subs, which meant we all played the whole match - we were shattered! But of course, you want to know the score - well, sadly we lost, but only 3-2, and guess what, I scored a goal (WITH MY HEAD) - unbelievable! I was so happy, I forgot all about my tired legs (for a few minutes anyway). I really gutted that we haven't got a game for a week or so, cos of half-term, so I suppose I'll just have to do some practicing with Alfie instead. As you know, Norwich City have been doing about as well as my team (not very), and when we saw they were playing Arsenal we didn't give them a chance, but incredibly they won 1-0, and Grant Holt has now scored 3 goals in 3 games - maybe they might not get relegated afterall! On Sunday morning me & Mum were actually out of the house before Dad & Alfie - amazing eh. we were at the Ski Club for just after 9 o'clock, while Alfie slobbed about til nearly 10 - lazy beast. It did mean that I would miss his match, and it sounded like a really exciting one. Blofield won 4-3 in the end, and just cos I scored, Alfie had to do the same, and got the last of Blofield's, which was fortunate as it turned out, as right at the end the other team got a penalty, but their Goalie made a great save. Normally, Alfie's friend Joe would be in goal but he was on holiday, so will he be fighting for his place back next match - maybe! Just time to get back & have a bit of lunch, and we were all back out again - to the Ski Club, as it was their open-day & we were going to try Snowboarding. Me & Mum had tried it a long time ago, but Alfie never had, nor had Annalise or Harvey, who were both having their first go as well. We all had a fun time - except Dad, who came to ski, but couldn't as the slope was being used for all sorts of other stuff - so he had to sit and watch - poor old Boy! Me & Mum definitely want to have another go at Boarding, but Alfie is more interested in trying his new skis (that he got in March & hasn't used yet). I don't think either me or Alfie are playing Football next week, so you'll get a rest from us going on about it. You'll just have to hear all about Alfie's birthday instead! |

Eat, Sleep & Dream... Football |
Another week, and another feast of Football (this time 3 days of it - 4 if you include training), its officially taking over our lives! One bit of good news on the phone front - Mum is happy again, as she's got her phone back (she smashed the screen remember). Not only that, but its a brand new one, so no scratches at all (for now!). Now all we need to do is put all the games & our stuff back on it, then it'll be a proper phone again! Not so good - Mum's car went funny (when we were driving to my Football practice), and rather than keep going she turned around and we drove very slowly back home - I was NOT HAPPY!!!! Luckily, I was able call Dad, he rushed home, picked us up & took me to training & Mum to Skiing - phew. The garage have been able to get it working again (some loose wire or something), and they are going to fix the oil leak, so Mum should be able to park it on the drive without making a mess everywhere. Alfie's Football training was called off again, so we had an XBox night, playing lots of Death, Stab, Kill games - really good fun, especially cos the graphics are really good. I reckon there will be lots more of this to come! Our end of week fun started extra early this week, as it was Harvey's birthday & he was having a tubing party at the Ski club (which turned out to be a night out for Alfie's football team, along with Annalise, Bethan & me. It was good fun, as it was a bit wet, so quite fast. A good night was finished off with lots of pizza & chips - yum! The fun carried on after School on Friday as we had only been in a short while & we had to go out again - to watch the young England team play against some team, from somewhere (I can't remember). Our seats were with my Girls football team, in the Norwich & Peterborough stand (almost behind the goal. This gave us a great view - but was a bit dangerous as we nearly got hit by flying footballs (especially when they were practicing). Alfie had one skim past his face (which would have knocked him off his feet, if it had got him). My girlfriends were very loud (as they'd bought these hooter things), and you could hear them everywhere. England had lots of chances, but couldn't score - until the 2nd half when they got a penalty & GOAL. It then got a bit boring, so we entertained ourselves with a Mexican wave - not done that before (pretty cool). It finished 1-0 to England, so good start to the weekend. Saturday, and Thorpe Ladies - better than the week before, but we still lost, only 4-1 this time, and we've got one or two people playing really well now. I just need to work on my first touch, and stop worrying what my hair looks like! I wasn't too sad, as I was able to chat to the person I was marking, as she's one of my friends from School! Just time to get home, get changed, and the next bit of fun - Annalise & Bethan were coming for a sleep -over. Luckily they like X Factor and stuff, so we watched this, as well as some episodes of Little Britain that we got from Poundland - hillarious! Everyone went to bed at about half 10, but we stayed up talking til about 3 in the morning! The Boys were kind on Sunday morning & didn't wake us up until after 9 o'clock, so it wasn't too bad. Alf & Dad went off to Alfie's match while we had our breakfast - SuperNoodles - Bootiful. We got to the match at half-time & Blofield were winning 4-0, and Alfie scored one of the goals. The Boys finally won 5-1, so Alfie was pretty pleased with himself. Sunday afternoon was a big tidy up (in the garden) putting all the furniture & trampoline away for the Winter, so I'll expect Snow next week then! Talking of Snow, I must speak to Annalise about a skiing holiday that Kerry was looking into. We need to do something soon before its too late. |

Double Defeat |
Another week, another sporting spectacular (not in the results though, boooooo) - more of that later. First, to Mum's phone disaster - remember she'd only had it a few weeks when she threw it down a ski slope. Well, that time she got lucky & it bounced off the snow unharmed. This time, she found that School playgrounds are not so soft, and SMASH... one broken iPhone screen.... oops. Luckily for Mum, Dad had got it insured, so it can be fixed - phew. Mum is totally lost without her phone, and had to borrow Alfie's just so she could stay in touch. Now perhaps she realises how difficult it was when I had my Blackberry stolen - it's a nightmare isn't it. Not much else to say about the week at School, except that Alfie did his World War II evacuation play (just like I did), and had fun being one of the grown-ups that had had to try and make the kids feel all right about going away from their homes. I'm getting into my skiing a bit again, and went with Mum on Friday night (good to see my mate Hannah) as usual. We didn't get home til after 10 o'clock, so it was almost straight to bed, then after what seemed like the shortest sleep ever, I was awake again, having Breakfast & getting ready to go all the way to Bradwell (near Yarmouth) to play football. Now, even I have to be honest..... we were rubbish (we didn't pass the ball very well at all) & by half-time we were losing 4-0. After our manager told us what we needed to better.... everything, we played better for a little while, and scored (could there be an amazing come-back?).....the answer, NO, we stopped playing again after that, and ended up losing 8-1, yup 8-1, how completely hopeless is that. At least we had some chips for lunch to cheer ourselves up, then we went to the place that me & Alf first played Golf (after having lunch with Nanna & Grandad, Robert & Rowan), and had a game of Pitch & Putt Golf. Some of the holes were pretty tricky (one even had a little pond in front of the Green) - tricky stuff. I hate to admit it but Alfie was better than me, although my excuse was that I was tired from Football & he'd had more practice! We were pretty wrecked when we got home at tea time, as we'd been out since 9 o'clock in the morning - phew. We just had enough energy to watch a great James bond film - a Quantum of Solace, and then we both collapsed into bed. On Sunday morning it was sort of the same again, this time it was Alfie who was playing football, against Old Catton, in Norwich. While he was waiting to go there, I went into work with Dad, who had to do some computer testing stuff. I got to sit around, play on my DS & drink Hot Chocolate - probably a normal day at work for Dad! We met Alfie at the match, which was about to start. They were playing the best team in the league, who hadn't lost a game all year! Could Blofied end their winning run? Sadly no, but it was close - a really good game to watch (both teams had lots of shots), and Blofield actually scored the first goal, and we went WILD. But, Old Catton, scored a lucky equaliser, and then sneaked a winning goal near the end, and won 2-1. Alfie played really well, and was the Man-of-the-Match for Blofield, which everyone said he really deserved. We were then going to have a lazy day as Mum had gone to a Ski teaching day at Hemel and wouldn't be back til late. However as we were leaving, we were invited to go for a walk at Felbrigg Hall with Annalise, Harvey, Bethan & her brothers Jack & James - so we did. Just enough time to dash home, stuff down a Pot Noodle & we were off again. We had a great time messing around in the Woods, and finding some Geocaches - some of them were really clever especially on the bridge, but I can't say anymore! We got back at teatime and ate our own body weight in Tuna / Pasta bake - we were starving. Just time for a bath, some homework (on my Olympic Hero - who was Jessica Ennis), and we collapsed into bed, and were asleep almost straight away - that's what weekends are all about, lost of real fun stuff - more of the same next week we reckon!. |

A Right Battering |
A proper Football-fest this week, both watching & playing. I got to pick up my kit at training on Tuesday, and its fab, a sort of Pinky/ Purple colour that matches my Football boots perfectly - result! Alfie missed his training on Wednesday as we went to see Norwich play against the (mighty-not) Doncaster Rovers, in the cup. Were were sitting in a different place to normal & got to say hello to Grandma. In the first 10 minutes it looked like Norwich would score loads of goals as their Goalkeeper was really dodgy - punching the ball up in the air & booting his kicks straight out. When Norwich did score it was a lovely shot from the edge of the area that went in off the post - GOAL! Shame, that was as good as it got, and Doncaster nearly got a goal right at the end. That would have meant another 30minutes of football, then penalties, but phew, Norwich held on & won 1-0. Next time they play Tottenham at home (again) so hopefully we'll get to see that one as well (right near Alfie's birthday). Really excited on Saturday morning, off to the Rec (near my School) to play my first game for Thorpe United Ladies Football Club. As I was one of the new players, I played the 2nd half, and found out pretty quickly that its a was rough, tough game. In the first minute I got tripped over, and hurt my shoulder, then I had my foot stood on, and finally an arm in my jaw! It was really good fun though, and we finally won 4-2, against Scole. We've got some good players, especially Vivienne who can kick the ball miles (and scored two goals). Next week we've got to go to Bradwell (near Yarmouth), lets hope I've still got two working Arms & Legs after that one! Mum came along to watch & we went into Norwich to do some shopping while the Boys went home & did Boy stuff around the house. On Sunday morning it was Alfie's turn to play. I went along to see Annalise & Bethan (and didn't really see much of the match). Alfie played most of the match (he only came off for 10 minutes after he got hacked down, and didn't even get a free kick). After he went back on, his punishment wasn't complete. He got elbowed in the neck (everyone, apart from the Ref saw that as well). He got up & looked like he was going to kill someone - just like he looks at me sometimes!!!! Fortunately he didn't go totally bonkers & get himself sent off, but he certainly was pretty MAD. His friend Harvey also got some right kicks, and the bully -boys from Taverham won 3-1...booooooo. We got back & had the change to tell Grandma & Grumps all about it, as they came over for lunch. It sounds like they had a fun time at River Cottage, looking after Monty & Connie, while Catherine was away. Monty seems a even crazier than ever, thinking that he's a stuntman. I bet Rubberman Alfie could show him a trick or two. Hopefully we'll see them at the end of October. So our weekends are going to be Football, Football, Football from now on, with maybe a bit of Skiing & Golf thrown in for variety - what a Sport mad family we are! |

Strike Two |
One of us got to make a difference in our Football team - and it was.......Alfie. I didn't, only cos we didn't have a game after all, so I'll get my chance next week (wearing my smart new kit). We're right back in the School routine now, although one day I did forget my homework. I didn't have time to go back home, so I rang and Alfie kindly ran up to the bus stop to bring it for me - just for once (thanks Bro!). Its starting to fell like homework, homework, and more homework, but at least its interesting - projects like 'things that a good website should have' & 'Inventions from Japan'. I went skiing for the first time in ages on Friday, and it was great to catch up with Hannah - long time no see, although we speak every day on our Blackberry phones. Mum decided to spend Saturday at the Ski Club, but wasn't racing as it was a National race & they are a bit too good. Me, Alfie & Dad went to Eaton Park & played Pitch & Putt. Dad did some massive shots & not surprisingly took the fewest shots overall, but me & Alfie had some good battles - if my putting would have been a bit better, I would have won more, so I have to be honest and say Alfie won more than me - God, that's twice I've been nice in one diary! On Sunday we were up & out early - off to Wymondham for Alfie's first game of the season. As we said last week, without him they lost 5-2, so what difference could he make. Well, Blofield were winning 3-0 at half time, and not only that, Alfie made the first goal - his shot was deflected into the goal. The second half was even better for Alfie, he got the ball, ran past 2 of their players and scored. Blofield ended up winning 4-2, so he did make a difference. Sadly, Norwich couldn't do the same & they lost 1-0 away at Newcastle, so Alfie has scored as many goals as the whole Norwich team! We are going to see them next week against Doncaster Rovers, so we hope that they finally work out where the goal is & start scoring - OTBC.. |

Lost Without Us |
We made it through our first full week at School, but it was tough - some nights we were crawling into our beds at 9 o'clock, which is just not like us at all. We reckon that School is tougher than work! Maybe, me going to my first Girls football training played a part, we ran around for nearly an hour and a half -I was wrecked. It was great fun, not having Boys trying to hack you down all the time! I must have done OK cos they wanted me to play against Bungay on Saturday, but me & Alf were staying at Nanna & Grandad's, so I couldn't - I'm sure the next match will be soon enough. Friday was all a rush after School - getting our stuff together for our sleep-over, and off... a bit different to our usual get home & lie in front of the TV until tea time! So, Mum & Dad would have a peaceful day on Saturday without us. We, on the other hand went to Pleasurewood Hills, and went on our favourite ride.. Total Wipeout - AWESOME (just as good as we remembered). Even better (for me) was their new ride, called the Jolly Roger. Alf wasn't tall enough, so he needs to gets some food down him - and quick! We had a really great day (thanks Nanna & Grandad), and had a lovely McDonald's for tea - DELICIOUS. On Sunday we went Crabbing in Walberswick, and did brilliantly - over 70 (yup, that's right - SEVENTY) Crabs, which equals Robert & Rowan's record, and much better when we last went. So, how did our football teams do without us...... pretty rubbish really. My Girls team lost 3-0 against Bungay & Alfie's team lost 5-2, even though they scored the first goal - oops. Even Norwich couldn't win - but at least they didn't lose, drawing 0-0 against West Ham. We are going to see them again in a couple of weeks, in the next round of the Cup, against Doncaster Rovers from League One, so lets hope they play well & don't be hopeless & lose! Clearly, our Football team's need us, so we will be practicing hard this week & hopefully we will both be picked for our teams & play at the weekend - and make a difference. |

Something(s) New |
Well, that's it, another Summer holiday over - was it really 7 weeks, since we were last at School. It was a strange last week, as Mum had to go back to School before we did (another one of those teacher training days, or something). Dad looked after us on Tuesday morning, and we went Swimming at the Riverside pool. On Wednesday, I went back to School (to help the new first year's to settle in). I remember my first day & it was pretty strange, even though there were not many other kids around, so me & my friends decided we'd do something to help the newbies. Mum went for another training day, so Dad looked after Alfie. They went to play golf at the Mousehold Pitch & Putt course, and had a good time - Dad says Alfie played better on the last holes, when he stopped trying to hit the ball too hard.- how many times has he had to say that now - hundreds I reckon. So we would look our best at School, we all went to Mum's friend Kerry, for a haircut. Me & Alf had our usual tidy up, but Mum went for something a bit more radical (for her) - just like me, Mum now has a fringe in her hair - see what you think - 10 years younger, or just different (we can't decide). On Saturday, we got to see our Cat Nelly's grand-daughters (yup Grand Daughters, and Nelly is only just over two years old). They are the Kittens of the Cat that went to my friend Maddie, and all 3 are very different colours - one like Maddie, one like Nelly & one like her Mum. Me & Alf had a lovely time making a huge fuss of them. Interestingly, just like we did with Ralph, they are thinking about keeping one of the Kittens, and we think it is the one that Alf spent most time with. Sunday, and after a very warm Football training session (the last one before Alfie's season starts next week), we all went to see the Tour of Britain Cycle Race as it was passing through Norfolk. We went over to near Wroxham to see them - biking part of the way (of course), and waited by the roadside, near where they would be doing a bit of a sprint. They were supposed to come past at 1.30 but were late (I suppose as they'd already biked over 100 miles (they started in Ipswich), they could be forgiven for being a bit late. After loads of Police Motorbikes went past, 4 cyclists came shooting past - they had gone faster than the rest and were about a minute ahead. Then the people up the road started cheering and all the rest of the cyclists came past - they were going really fast & we couldn't see Bradley Wiggins or Mark Cavendish, but they were in there somewhere. Amazingly, after they'd gone, everyone just got up & went. We went to the Mill Pond again, and me & Mum had a swim - Alfie came in for a paddle & Dad didn't even get wet - what a wimp. Next time maybe we'll get our courage up & jump off the bridge over the river, as it look like really great fun. So back to normal at School next week - a whole 5 days (its goin' to be tough). Alfie has got some Soccer Stars thing & I'm going to join a Girls Football team & go training on Tuesday night, so hope its not as warm as it has been. |

Fantastic Festival |
We've definitely (nearly) finished the School holidays on a high, another fun packed week - where do we start. At the beginning (of course). We went to Walberswick, near Southwold, on Monday & met up with Robert & Rowan. We left home in lovely sunshine, but by the time we got there it was cloudy & windy. Still, it made some fab waves in the Sea for us to go surfing in. Robert & Rowan were already in when we got ther, and it was warmer under the water than out of it - until you wanted to get dry (then it was FREEZING). Luckily, Tom had brough his groovy storm Kettle that works even better in the wind, so we had a lovely Pot Noodle, right there on the beach - everyone passing was proper jealous! Warmed up it was time to go Crabbing. we though our nets were good, but its obviously all about the bait (Crab food to you & me). Robert & Rowan had some Liver (which looked a felt totally gross), but the Crabs loved it - every time they pulled out their nets there were Crabs on them - we'll definitely be using that next time. On Tuesday we got our first chance to see Norwich play, for ages, against the mighty Scunthorpe, in the Cup.Luckily, they played much better than last time we saw them (when they lost 4-0), and they won 2-1, hardly great, but at least they won. Hopefully we'll get to see them again soon. As it turned out, the weather at the beach wasn't as bad as it got, and we had to find some indoor fun. We went roller skating with our old School friends Saffron & Sam. We'd not it for ages & it took a while for us to remember how to do it properly. Mum took even longer - creeping around the edge for ages, before finally -going for it! Then I went to my friend Bethan for a sleep-over, and luckily did get some sleep (but to be honest not loads). I needed it though cos on Saturday night it was the highlight of the week, maybe the holiday, maybe the year..... me & Mum went to see Olly Murs at the Sundown Festival - O.M.G, it was amazing. Not only Olly, but Pixie Lott, Katie B, and loads of other stuff, it was incredible! We went with Curly Megs & her Mum, and we all had a fantastic time, dancing for hours. We didn't get home til midnight, and I collapsed into my bed (I was even too tired to change into my PJ's).Dad & Alf spent their Boys day on the Golf course (well Pitch & Putt @ Eaton Park). Alfie's friend Stephen came along, and although Dad took the fewest shots, Alfie beat Stephen, which he was well pleased about. Me & Mum slept in on Sunday, until 10 o'clock, when Alf had to go & play Cricket. He played well, Dad says he's one of the best bowlers in the team, and when he got some balls bowled at him that he could hit - most of them went well wide, he whacked a few around. We were all still a bit tired so we just slobbed about for the rest of the day - perfect lazy Sunday really. Gosh, just the last few days left of the holiday left now - wonder what else we'll get up to. |

All the Fun of the Fair |
Even though our holiday is fast running out, the fun just keeps on comin' - just the way we like it! We needed a bit of a chill out after our busy weekend, and luckily we got it, with a couple of days of just doing not very much - which was ok (for once). Friday ended up being the longest day ever. We met Robert & Rowan in Yarmouth for some yummy chips (from the market of course), and after a long, long walk, time for some proper fun at the Pleasure Beach. As you know, me & Alfie have been here before and go on all the rides, Robert & Rowan needed a bit more persuading at first, but we got Robert to go on everything, including the Rollercoaster & SkyDrop - welcome along to the team. Rowan also showed us her brave side and went on some of the rides, but we couldn't get her on the Rollercoaster - but we reckon she'd love it - next time. After we'd been on everything loads, you'd think that was the end of the day's fun - but not for me, it was just starting. On the way back, Mum dropped me off at my friend Emily's house in Plumstead, for a sleep-over. I expected to be tired, but it didn't turn out that way - for the first time ever, on a sleep-over, we didn't have any sleep at all. Yes, you read correctly, NO SLEEP AT ALL - NOT EVEN A LITTLE SNOOZE. Mum came to pick me up & we went food shopping (and still I wasn't tired). Even after getting home, sorting the shopping out, and having tea, I was still awake - a whole 36 hours after I got up on Friday morning. I didn't make it much past 9o'clock, and then had a lovely 12 hour sleep, until Alfie woke me up getting ready for Football practice. Alfie went to his friend Spencer's birthday party & me, Mum & Dad went for a bike ride, and he must have found the most hilly parts of Norfolk, and the smelliest (near to the sewage works - lovely). We went for miles & miles, and a t last stopped for a drink at a pub by a river. Across the water looked familiar (but different). I was asked to guess where it was, but didn't want to seem stupit for saying Brundall (but it was!). We were about 1 mile from home, but because of the river, we had to bike another 7 miles back to the car - great! We should be seeing Robert & Rowan again tomorrow, and I think we are going to see Norwich play, and might be going to see Olly Murrs in concert - OMG!!!!! |

Boiling in Brundall |
Unbelievably we seem to have brought the sunshine home with us from France as its been almost as warm as Allos some days - not that we are complaining (we're on holiday still - unlike poor old Dad who went back to his desk - hard life eh!). At least we didn't get too bored (so we haven't killed each other yet!). We went to see our old friends Saffron & Sammy and got to see one of our old Cats (can't call them Kitten's anymore as they aren't). Then the weather just got hotter & hotter, meaning there was only one place to go - the beach! So we went to our favourite beach at Waxham, and for the first time Stephen, Daniel & Adam came along (and they brought their mad dog Molly - the not so small Labra-Doodle). We had a great time and spent about an hour in the Sea as it was warm, compared to the icy cold streams of France! We saw that Monty & Connie have been having a great time in France, so hopefully they won't sell the Chalet - anyway they can't - we've got too many things still to do there! Saturday was even hotter - it must have been easily over 30 degrees, you just didn't have the energy for anything... except shopping (which of course is indoors in the cool - clever eh!). Me & Dad went to look for some new trainers for me, but I just couldn't decide, so didn't get any. We did though find the exhibition in the Forum with old video games that you could play, which was really cool. Some of the old games seem sooooo slow & the graphics are rubbish, but shooting pretend Ducks was proper fun. We just vegged about the rest of the day cos it was too hot to do anything, except get to work on our Suntans. Saturday night we biked to Strumpshaw Hall for their party in the Park - sort of like Snodfest with live Bands and Beer (which clearly some people had drunk loads of), as they were staggering about when we were still there. We both got to see a few friends there so spent more time with them than with Mum & Dad - not that they seemed bothered. Luckily Dad had got us all some lights for our bikes as it was completly dark when we biked home, and didn't get to bed until after midnight - and Alfie had still had to get up for Football training at 10 o'clock on Sunday - which of course Dad took him to (I was awake, Mum wasn't!). It was hot again on Sunday - Alfie's face was still bright Red when he got home from Football & he'd finished half an hour before! So, we just had to go to the beach, AGAIN. This time we went to Gorlstone (near Yarmouth) - a new one for us we think, and who should come & join us - Robert & Rowan, who are staying at the Caravan this week. Typical, after all the lovely weather, we sat on the beach with clouds in the Sky, and Thunder & Lightning - which looked pretty cool out to Sea. As it turns out we were lucky as Brundall & Norwich had a real downpour. We easily beat our Friday In-the-Sea time, and it must have been an hour and a half easy - just us kids mind, not Adults went in (properly), Dad got damp getting the Frisbee, but that was it - very poor. Looking forward to seeing Robert & Rowan again in the week & I should bee seeing a School friend, then its the Bank Holiday weekend - so it will probably Rain! Yikes, now only a bit over 2 week of our holiday left - where does the time go - have fun everyone. |

Bon Vacances |
Whoosh.... that's the sound of another holiday speeding past, and a much better one than we thought it was going to be - yikes did we really just say that. It was our first Summer trip to France for a few years, and we thought it was going to be dull, dull, dull (especially as Monty & Connie weren't going to be there to keep us entertained) - but not only did we find plenty to keep ourselves busy, but enough really cool looking stuff that we need to come again.. We had the normal crazy tidy up day before we left - we've never really understood why, as apart from the Cats & David from next door, no-one will see it, but at least Mum was happy when we loaded up the car and headed for the airport. Spookily, on the same day the Youngs from across the road were also going on holiday to France, but they were going on an overnight ferry (which sounds pretty cool). Luckily just to Stanstead this time, so we were there in no-time, and had a bit of time to look around the shops - good for the Girls, not so good for the Boys. Then we were proper off and away, and down again (it seems to get shorter, which is good). It was baking hot in Nice (over 30 degrees) so good job it wasn't too long to get the hire car & we were off - first stop, the hypermarket for a big food shop. Now we've got some pretty big supermarkets (or we thought so until we got inside the Carrefore in Nice), it was massive, and sold nearly everything you could imagine - the choice of bread, cheese & stuff was unbelievable. Good job they had a McDonalds next door so we could fill up before we shopped til we dropped. After the now all too familiar (and much too twisty) drive up to the Chalet, there it was.... home sweet home. Day 1 - A bit of a lazy day, just chillin' although we did get the Gondala half-way, and go into Allos for a look around Shoppi. Of course Dad would never pay the 2 Euro's (each) for us to get a ride back up, so we walked - phew. We also made a start on tidying up the garden by clearing the path to Monty & Connie's Grotto by the stream. Day 2 - A walk up the ski slopes at La Foux (much harder and steeper than sliding down). Really weird to sit where we often have our lunch & look out over what normally would be covered in Snow. The walk was interesting just above the village as they had some fitness things that we played around on, like 3 wise Monkeys. Day 3 - Another day, another walk. At least today there was some shade from the Sun, but there was lots of uphill. At least we got down to the River, and some had the chance to splash around & cool down - lovely. Day 4 - O.M.G, what a long day, and another country added to our list, this time Italy. Yup, we drove all the way from the Chalet, over to Barcalonette (where we had a look at their market which was full of lovely stuff), and on and up again, over another pass, into Italy, where we had some delicious Coffee & Cake. The only problem, we had to turn around and come all the way back (at least we stopped at a lovely River for a paddle. Day 5 - Dad decided we needed to stretch our legs after spending all day in the car, so it was another walk, with the promise of some more waterfalls to play in. As it turned out Dad got it wrong about the waterfall on the walk, but he was 'saved' as we found lots of wild Strawberries & Raspberries in the woods, and ate as much as we could, as they were small but very, very tasty. Dad did get ir right in the end, and we went to a tiny village called Chasse (which we'd been to with Monty & Connie), and while Mum rested, we went clambering among the rocks in the river. Day 6 - Another long driving day, but at least we stopped along the way. First to see a massive dam that makes electricity - it was massive. Finally we got to the Gorge de Verdon, the deepest one in Europe, and it was amazing. What we didn't realise (Dad had conveniently forgotten to tell us), was that to get into the gorge proper we had to walk through a tunnel. OK, so in England tunnels are short & you can see one end from the other - not this one (it was completely dark and although we had a torch, we didn't know how long it was). We all went in, but I have to be honest, I wasn't liking it one bit - nor was Mum. So I had to stop, and have a 'moment'. Dad & Alfie got bored & went on without us. After ages they came back (and found that we had moved a bit further down - but not much & about the same distance as the big Frog we found). We did all get through, not just one but two tunnels, and back again, in total over 1km of tunnel. What looked really cool was Canyoning, where you get a wetsuit & lifejacket & get to walk, float & jump your way down the Gorge in the River - wicked. Day 7 - After our long drive, we decided to stay close to home & went to the Waterpark in Allos (the frozen lake in the Winter. Luckily it was a bit warmer in August (but still took some getting used to). We all had a swim & slide, as well as a paddle in a canoe. Even though we'd been in France for a week, we all seemed to be very pale compared to the French people, who were lovely & Brown. Day 8 - Our last full day (already) and time for a bit more rest & relaxation, so we went to the outdoor swimming pool in Colmars, which was lovely. We spent a couple of hours there before trying to find a Geocache in the Chapel at the Gorge de Saint Pierre, which is in the middle of nowhere and down a narrow path with a steep drop off the side (which Mum wasn't too happy with). We found the chapel, but not the Cache - booo. Then, unbelievably it was time to tidy up, pack up our things & come home.... booooo But as you can see we had a great time. Not only that but we'd miss Monty & Connie coming for their holiday by just a few hours. We'd finished making their Grotto as good as new & putting up a special sign for them, so I hope they like it. Nothing much to say about the trip home, except that I used my CarBoot money to buy some Christian Dior perfumes which smell lush - but you don't get much for your money ( I can't go spraying that everywhere like my other stuff!). The Cats were well pleased to see us back again, and of course we made a big fuss of them. Just enough time for a nice Chinese tea (of course) and a long, long sleep. The next two days was pretty dull, sorting stuff out & generally doing not very much (not that you wanted to as it was pretty warm - for England). So what does Dad do, gets us all to go on a bike ride from our house to Ranworth - just for an ice-cream (wow). I think he secretly knew about the village beer festival that was going on, that him and Mum just had to have a drink at - suspicious. At least pester power still works and we got to go swimming at Bungay (and even though the inflatable still wasn't working we had a good time messing about). So for Dad, its holiday over. For us its holiday half over. Another 3 weeks & we need to keep finding fun things to do, or we'll kill each other. |

Hot Money |
No, don't worry we haven't turned to a life of crime to feed our addiction to sweets of something - all will be revealed. Phew, at last Summer has arrived, and after a bit of a grilling in Grandma & Grumps garden, we had another 3 days of roasting hot weather - bootiful. Of course, when the weather is as lovely as this there is only one thing to do - get to some water & go swimming (so we did it not once, but twice). First a return trip to Lowestoft, this time to the beach, and a surprise - Sophie & Naomi were staying with Nanna & Grandad, so they came too. It was lovely & warm, so you guessed it - me, Alfie & Naomi went for a proper swim in the Sea (well cold to start with, but when you got used to it - NUMB!, it didn't feel too bad). Next day & another scorcher!, rather than head for the beach again, we went out to the river at Colitshall, with Katie & her Mum Sarah, that Mum works with at School. We went for a walk along near where we've been before, but never this way, and wow, an old mill, and the river running underneath, into a lovely cool mill pond - perfect for swimming & messing around - so, as you can see, that's what we did. The weather wasn't quite so good on Thursday or Friday, so we just did boring stuff like, food shopping - dull!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least we had something worth doing on Saturday - sorting out our stuff for our Carboot on Sunday - we went up in the loft again, and cleared up the spare bedroom & somehow squeezed it all in the car - ready for an early start on Sunday (so any guesses on whether Mum will be there!). O.M.G, I get up at 6:30 on Sunday morning & we're out of the house just after 7:00, and even our friend Stephen has decided to come along - mad fool (I would of had a lie in). We get there before 7:30 & its packed already. Before we even get anything out, people are asking if we've got any mobile phones or records - crazy! We finally get everything out & set up, and we start to sell our stuff. We decide that its best to sell, than to ask for silly prices & be stuck with it, and it seems to be working as people are buying our stuff, much more than others around us. What was really funny were the people, tall ones short ones, skinny ones & loads of FAT ones!, and more of them spoke a foreign language, like we'd been in a time machine from Norwich to East Europe, or somewhere. We had a good laugh with a man that was collecting Match Attack cards for his Grandson, and he paid £10 for some of Alfie's cards - good business! After 5 hours of selling we finally decided that we'd had enough & packed up. When we got home & counted our money, we'd made almost £100 - Fantastic. So me & Alfie have got loads on money, and will obviously be spending it wisely!!! no time to rest though as we now need to pack our stuff as we go off to France on Tuesday, for some well earned rest & relaxation, or as Mum & Dad call it - long walks in the mountains - joy! |

School's Out For Summer |
So, that's the end of another School year, and my first at High School - no longer bottom of the pile! As usual, nothing much really happens in the final week, a bit of sorting out all your stuff to bring home (another load of artwork from both of us), and mainly people talking about what they are going to do over the holidays. One thing though, we did have an achievement assembly, and as the School is into its sports, I got invited along. I got certificates for being in the Football, Rounders & Cross Country teams, which I thought was pretty good (and it was), but one of my friends got SEVEN - I don't know how she finds the time to do it all. Mum saw the year 6 leavers show and she said it was really good (although obviously not quite as good as last years - when I was in it), and our friend Curly Megs was in it (as she's coming to Thorpe in September). Alfie's going to have to keep himself fit over the Summer as Soccer Stars has now finished & Blofield training doesn't start again until September, so we'll have to make a routine up for him - maybe fetching me food & drink all day, is the way to keep him healthy - I'll think about asking him! Dad's car started making some funny noises, and got all wobbly when it was driving, so it needs a trip to the garage to be mended. Fingers crossed its not too expensive, and they sure look complicated to us! We're going to do our CarBoot sale in another week, as its still a big heap of mess in the spare bedroom at the moment, and we didn't have time to sort things out - so we went to see Grandma & Grumps instead (much more fun). Grandma had just come back from a holiday on the Isles of Silly, and how cool, she had to go in a helicopter to get there - jealous. We were extra lucky as we had some Sun so we spent most of the time in the garden playing Cricket / Rounders, sort of games. Alfie was a brilliant catcher, and anything that came near him he dived and caught it - very impressive, no wonder the Cricket team want him! Of course we had some delicious food, and the most tasty Lasagne ever (Mum definitely needs the recipe), followed by some yummy Strawberry's - bootiful! The weather forecast actually says it will be Sunny for a few days, so lets hope it is & we can get some Sunbathing in. Have a good Summer hols everyone. |

Flamin' July |
Mmmmm, still no sign of of Summer - more heavy rain, cancelled Cricket (which was a real shame as Alfie had a match), and lots of being bored as there is 'nothing to do'. We are hoping that things get nicer soon as its going to be our Summer holiday in a week, and we aren't looking forward to weeks & weeks of watching rain - we'll go mad, or kill each other! At least it is 25 degrees in France, so we'll have 10 days away from the floods. I don't know if we said - a few weeks ago someone was swept away & drowned in a river near Ludlow, near wher we were camping, and now the road between our campsite and Harry Tuffin's supermarket is completely closed as it is flooded - what a nightmare! Talking of floods, you probably don't remember, but a while ago we we supposed to meet up with Nanna, Grandad, Shelly, Tom, Robert, Rowan, Jason, Helen, Sophie & Naomi, in Cambridge - but cos it was raining we didn't. Well, on Sunday we did all get to meet up & guess what... it DIDN'T rain. But, and you knew there would be a but didn't you, where we had planned to walk (along the River), the river had flooded all over the path so we had to go a different way, and it was really busy with loads of other people, walking, biking & jogging. Before we went walking we had a lovely picnic (in the only dry spot there was), and everyone enjoyed the food - including Tilly who managed to grab a Chicken leg, a bit of my sandwich & some of Masie's food..... greedy guts! It was a nice walk across the meadows into Cambridge, and after we'd seen a few people Canoeing on the river, I thought I'd rather do that than go on a Punt (a funny flat boat that you push with a pole). As it turned out we didn't even get a choice - all the boat places were closed as the flow of the river was too strong, and you couldn't Punt against it. It didn't look too bad, until we got to a weir, and saw the water rushing through - white water punting! So, after a well deserved ice-cream, I managed to persuade Mum, Shelly & Rowan to come to the Kath Kidson shop (just for a look), and managed to come away with a new bus pass holder & swim bag (all sale bargains), and Rowan got a bag like I did for my birthday - for HALF price, Mum was gutted. A good mess around at the playground on the way back (some people were even in an outdoor paddling pool - but it wasn't that warm), and we were back across the meadows, and back to our cars. So, we all had a good time, and maybe if we come again, we'll finally get to go on the river, either in a Punt, or Canoe. Must go and get my school stuff ready for the last time for seven weeks - nearly holiday time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Flamin July |
Obviously I'm not talking about the weather as its still not what July is supposed to be like. I know we've had rain, but at least not as much as other parts of the country, where the roads have been like rivers - totally mad. No, I'm talking about the Olympic Torch, that came to Norwich last week. Now, before I tell you all about it, is is just me, or did anyone else think that the torch was being carried (run) right around the UK? Phew, not just me being silly then - anyway, turns out we were wrong, as it spends more time in a Bus (being driven from town to town) than it does actually being carried about in someone's hand - what a cheat! So, after it had a lovely Bus ride from somewhere, the Torch turned up on the edge of Norwich & then a few people got to run with the torch into the centre of Norwich, and on to Chapelfield Gardens (right near my favourite shopping centre). This is where we went to see it, and I don't know what I expected, but definitely not for all the other people to be there as well - there were loads. At least there was some music, some dancing & performers, so it was more than just looking at someone in a White tracksuit jog past - cos that would be very dull. So, we've seen it, probably for the only time in our lives (unless the Olympics comes here again, when we are older, you never know). Alfie went one better though, and was able to get a proper good look at the torch, as it came to his School - don't believe me, well here's the proof. What else....still no phone (so having to try & be cool with Alfie's - which is ok actually), but lovely Dad has ordered me another one, which should arrive this week - another Blackberry, so I'll soon be connected again. Friday night we went to Blofield football club as they were presenting their end of season awards, and Alfie got a trophy for his under 9 team. His friend Joe did even better, being awarded the trophy for the most improved player of the season! - something for Alfie to aim for next season. We had a nice day on Saturday (the afternoon anyway). The morning was a bit rubbish - tidying up the house, although it was a bit of a mess. It was worth it, as it made it look smart for Nanna & Grandad (so I was able to show Nanna my smart new bedroom, without her having to step over loads of rubbish on the floor. Thanks very much for my Birthday money, I'm sure that I will spend it sensibly. It was great that they brought Tilly with them & she had a lovely time chasing around the house & garden. Funny, none of the Cats was to be found anywhere - chickens, I'm sure she would just want to play. Dad was working on Sunday & Alfie had a Ten Pin Bowling Birthday party to go to. Me & Mum went shopping down at Riverside, while Alf bowled. He did really well, especially on his 2nd game, which he won with a score of 116, with 3 strikes - well done!. Just two more weeks at School (can you believe it, a whole year of High School already gone - scary stuff). I wonder how the year 6's in Brundall are feeling right now...... Oh, yea, before I go, when Nanna & Grandad were over, they wanted to see a picture of Alfie in his Cricket stuff, as he does look sort of smart I suppose. |

Worst Day EVER! |
How different can two weeks be?.... totally, if you are me & not in a good way! Anyway, before we get onto that, and I make myself feel super sad (again), Alfie had a much better week, and played Cricket 3 times. As he got included in the team, Dad had to go & buy him some proper Cricket clothes - Whites I think they are called. Pretty silly really, playing a game where you skid about on grass, in White clothes - how are the stains ever going to come out of the Knees? Its just like someone who does painting for a job, they wear White clothes as well - why? Is it when they are covered in paint, it shows just how much they've been working, so how good they must be, or shows just how messy they are? - what a mystery. Alfie's team lost their 1st match by just a few points (runs), but Alfie did well batting, and could throw the ball as far as anyone, so he got to chase the big hits - lucky Boy! After a practice session, the team has another game & won. Alfie didn't get too many balls to hit (as most of them went well wide), but his bowling was really good & he got someone out by hitting their stumps - cool. Carrying on the sporting theme, and onto my news. It was our School Sports Day last week, and I ran in the 1500 metres, but my day, my week, my year & my LIFE, we ruined, as while my friends & me messed about on the sports field, someone else from my School STOLE MY PHONE, from by my bag. I thought one of my friends was messing about at first, but when it became obvious it wasn't, I was sooooo upset. I had loads of photo's, messages & stuff on there & someone had nicked it - and I HATE THEM FOR IT. I told the teachers & they said I was the 2nd person that day to have one taken - what a great School eh! The next day we had a holiday cos of the Norfolk Show, so I was still hoping that when we got back to School it would turn up - but it didn't. So, Dad has arranged for the phone to be cancelled, so it can't be used by anyone else, so what was the point of taking it - DOH. Dad has said it wasn't my fault (which it wasn't), and that I'll get another one - but its not going to strange to have one without my stuff on it. The next time we will put some tracking software on it, so if it ever happened again (which it won't), we will be able to take the Police straight to where it is. Still feeling pretty rubbish, me & Mum went to Ipswich on Sunday for a Ski Race, so at least I had some time doing other stuff & could take my mind off my traumatic experience. I did OK, and if they'd had the age groups set up as they should I would have been 2nd, but as I'm almost the youngest in a 2yr age group, I didn't get a medal. Mum says I skied really well, so not all bad. Mum came 3rd in her group & beat a couple of the Ladies that she is usually slower than - is she getting faster, or they slower? Dad & Alfie went & played Pitch & Putt Golf when we were Skiing, as Alfie has got a Golf birthday party next week, so he wanted some practice. They took Stephen along, and as he'd not played as much, he spent lots of the time in the long grass or under bushes / trees - but everyone had a good time. Right, I just need to find Alfie's phone (which I'm borrowing for the next few days), until I get my new phone. So friends, keep your phones safe & out of sight at all times, as you never know who wants to take it away from you - sad, but true. |
24/06/2012 Happy Birthday 12 years old
|
Birthday Girl |
Yea, ITS MY BIRTHDAY!!!!! and what a week leading up to it - proper action packed. We lost at Rounders, for the 2nd week in a row (oops), but to be honest, they were the best team we'd played so far - next week we'll get back to winning ways (I'm sure). That was the only low point really, cos me & my friends spent most of the time talking about our trip to Thorpe Park on Saturday, and of course a bit about my Birthday. So when we finished School on Friday, it was weird to be saying to so many people 'see you tomorrow', and at 6.30 on a Saturday morning as well. Who do you think would be taking me there..... go on, have a wild guess! I just had time for a quick Ski on Friday (good to see my friend Hannah - thanks for the lovely card). I bet you guessed that Dad dropped me off at School for 6.30 in the morning, and then went back home to make my new bed, which is really funky. Thorpe Park, what can I say.....AMAZING. The rides were AWESOME, although the queue's were a nightmare, over an hour for most of them - but sooooo worth it. One of them did 10 loop-the-loops, and another one went from 0 to 80 miles per hour in 2 seconds - how fast is that!!!!! Dad & Alfie would love it, although Mum might feel a bit sick (remembering what she was like at Pleasurewood Hills). If there are rides like this in Florida, then we are going to have an amazing time next year. I was so tired when I got home (at 9.30 in the evening), that I could hardly speak & explain how good it was & what we'd done. What I was able to see was how cool my bedroom was, with my new bed (which tips up so I can store all my stuff underneath - very handy). Dad & Alfie had also made my room lovely & tidy - I promise I'll try & keep it that way. After a lovely long sleep, I woke up & realised - IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY. Of course we had to wake Mum up so that I could open my presents (it was Sunday remember). I got some fab stuff (some I chose last week in Cambridge, and some off my list) - lovely Kath Kidson & Hollister gear, I'm going to look so glam! As I'd had such a busy day on Saturday, I didn't actually do much on my birthday. Just a bit of shopping with my Friend Maddie, while Dad & Alfie sorted out the front garden, that is looking pretty good now - especially now our drive is sorted. Mum & Dad just need to sort out the oil leaks on their cars so they can park on it, without messing it up! Maddie stayed for some lovely Chicken wraps & some of my birthday cake, before she dashed off home to watch England play Italy at Football. We watched it, but I don't know why - it was rubbish. England finally lost on Penalties (again), but it was only fair as Italy had about 30 chances to score, and England about 5 . Wayne Rooney was rubbish, see Grant Holt should have been in the team! |

Football & Shopping Heaven |
Boooo, we lost a Rounders match for the 1st time, but it was close, 17 -13. We didn't play our best, and the other team, from Hewitt School had a couple of really good hitters, so fair enough. We've got a chance to get back to winning ways next week, so I'll have to have a good chat with the Girls & make sure we're really 'on-it' next time. Luckily, the England football team were a bit better. First, drawing 1-1 against France (we went to see the game at Annalise & Harvey's house - on their giant screen), but after the first half we were more interested in playing with their new Kitten's, who are sooooo cute, and like to play about with shoe boxes (but don't like being put under them!), and eating Popcorn. Alfie also had a better sporting time this week, helping his team win his quick Cricket match at the Cricket club. England played again on Friday, and this time they won - beating Sweden 3-2. They were a bit lucky really as they were losing 2-1 at one point, and looked like they might get thrashed - same old England! Steve & Curly Megs must be luck, as they came round our house to watch the game, so what do we do next Tuesday when its England's last Group game, against Ukrane?. Anyway, we'll worry about that later - now you just have to hear about our weekend, cos it was busy & fab. Mum spend Saturday at the ski club doing some practice runs for the National championships that they were holding. These guys are too good for me, so I decided to stay away - a bit Chicken I know! So, instead we went to Lowestoft to see Grandma & Grumps, as Dad needed to fix a new tab in their Kitchen, as harly any water would come out - even with it on FULL - completely rubbish. So while Dad did that, Alfie helped Grumps with some weeding & I helped Grandma with her shopping @ Tesco's (which meant I could chose a few extra tasty treats, that we scoffed for lunch - bootiful!) Back just in time for tea, and the chance to watch the film 'The Hunger Games' which Dad had got off the Internet, from someone who had recorded it in the Cinema, as at the start you could see some people walk in front of the screen - crazy! The film was really good & Dad tells us that there are another two books in the series, which are also going to be made into films, or perhaps I'll read the books first. An early start on Sunday, as even though it was Father's Day, me & Mum decided that it would be Dad's treat to go shopping in Cambridge - what a lucky Dad eh! It turns out he wasn't so silly afterall - he'd brought his & Alfie's bikes, so while we went into all the Girly shops, like Hollister, Jack Wills & Kath Kidson, they went out & about on their bikes, doing Boy's stuff. They went to the place that you hire the Punts (those boats you push with poles), and saw lots of drunk students celebrating the end of their studies. When we met up again, we had loads of bags and they had...... some highlighter pens - rubbish or what! No matter, we all had the most fun in the Cambridge swimming pool, that had two of the most fab slides EVER. One was so fast you had to shut your eyes, and the other you had to go down on an inflatable, which was awesome. We also did some proper swimming, in the big pool, and I nearly beat Dad in a swimming race. We were whacked when we got back. just enough time for Roast Chicken (yawn - again), and it was time for bed, and another week. |

Sloppy Shropshire |
We definitely spoke to soon about the Sun coming out, as it went away again - big time! The last few days at School before the half-term holiday went past in a flash. At least Alfie got to do some Jubilee stuff - he was a Butler @ the Palace party, and according to Mum, a very good Butler too. We didn't do anything special, just work, work, work - tough eh! Dad was already at home packing the car when we came home from School, and we all just carried on working until nearly 10 o'clock, to get everything ready so we could leave early on Saturday morning (at least that was the plan). We didn't actually leave quite on time, as Mum insisted on doing some hoovering (as you do!), and with a detour cos of an accident near Coventry it took us over 5 hours to get to Bishops Castle, and the campsite. Cos of the Queens Jubilee stuff, it was much busier than usual, although Shelly & Tom has saved us a spot, in almost the exact same place as last year. Crazy Masie was pleased to see us, and looked ready for lots of WALKIES! Sunday - The first of the rain, so we pottered about, played a bit of Football (when we could), but didn't do much really - welcome to Sunny Shropshire.. Monday - We chilled out at the campsite while Shelly, Tom & Dad went for a local walk with Masie, which turned out to take a couple of hours. In the afternoon it rained so we went to our newest, favourite shop - Harry Tuppin's (which is sort of like LIDL & Poundland all under one roof - so full of quality stuff!). We drove back over the Long Mynd (which is a big long hill near Church Stretton, and up on the top the weather was so yuk you couldn't see more than a few metres & Dad had his car lights on in the middle of the afternoon - Flaming June!!! Tuesday - We managed to stay dry on a walk that took us back to a strange hill (that we'd seen from the Car), that has some trees on the top, surrounded by some massive flags. When we got there, we learned (from the Man that had put them there) that they were an 'installation' whatever that is, but anyway, they were really smart - 21 in total, which you could see for miles around - petty cool really. Wednesday - A really interesting (wet) walk which went past this lead mine (which you can arrange to go down, which sounds cool), and up onto the hills called the StiperStones - which came in handy to shelter behind when the rain came and soaked us all! I got a bit freaked out by this herd of Cows that we had to walk past, as I'm sure they were going to start chasing us, but of course they didn't. When we got back to camp, Sheely & Tom told us about the weather forecast - more rain & strong winds, so they would be leaving early, and did we want to? Thursday - Despite more rain, and Wind (all day), we decided to stay, so we went to Ludlow & did a bit of shopping (of course), but best of all a trip to the swimming pool. We were sad that we couldn't use the diving boards, but they had giant floats & footballs & we were in there for about an hour & a half, before we decided it was time for lunch. And what a lovely lunch it was, in this old Pub, with lots of musical instruments. Mum & Dad had these local pies, with so much meat in them, they had to give some of it away to Alfie, which I had a tasty jacket Potato & Alfie & Fish & Chips - yum, yum. What a windy night in the tent (and not cos of alfie's farts!), it was really blowing a gale, and the tent sometimes sounded like it was going to shake itself to pieces (but it didn't - phew). Friday - You guessed it, more rain. so we decided enough was enough & in between the rain showers packed our (very damp) things up and came home in time for tea. So, guess what, on Saturday the Sun comes out (so at least we got to dry our things out), and Sunday was even warmer - typical. Not to be defeated, we went out on our bikes and did some Geocaching, as we'd only found about 3 in Shropshire, so had some catching up to do. Now, just time to do my homework, and get ready for School. Fingers crossed the weather is better in France in August (it had better be!). |

Finally...The Sun Has Got His Hat On |
AT LAST...... SUN. Just in time for our second Rounders match, some lovely sunshine. The other team must have been so put off by this blinding light that they couldn't concentrate, cos we won again - two wins out of two! I was the main bowler again, and just like the last time they didn't score too many Rounders, and we won quite easily. Next week I think we are playing a proper posh school - Norwich High School, so that could be tricky - maybe I'll have to aim for their head to soften them up a bit! Luckily it wasn't just sunny when we were at School (that would be cruel). So on Friday me & Mum went skiing (which of course everyone does when its boiling hot - are we mad of what!). Saturday seemed even hotter, but luckily we went to see Nanna & Grandad at the caravan in Kessingland, and cos its near the Sea, it was a bit cooler. Still lovely & warm though, so we went swimming in the pool (both the indoor & outdoor one). Outdoors was a bit chilly still, but ok. Tilly was as crazy as ever, still jumping everywhere & licking your face whenever she could reach - lovely! After lunch we went for a walk along the beach to this strange thing that Grandad has already seen, which he called the Pineapple (although when we got there someone had kicked the top off), but we could still see what he meant. We finished a lovely day off with a tasty BBQ which Dad cooked for us.... just like the end of May should be - all day outdoors. Sunday morning & no rest for Alf - football practice @ 9:30 (Mum still in bed of course!). I went along but Annalise didn't arrive until later as she'd been staying with her friend, but had started to feel unwell. As it was getting hotter by the minute, we just had to get back to the seaside to cool down.. We went to our favourite beach @ Waxham (which we only just got a carpark space at) and made our camp near the rocks (as usual). We were super organised as we'd brought a couple of BBQ's to cook our dinner on - so we feaster on Burgers, Sausages & Chocolate BBQ Bananas - DELICIOUS. As we'd been in the sea in October, we assumed that late May would be OK, but it was FREEZING..... even with our wetsuits on. Surfing was done in very quickly with lots of shrieks & squeals whenever a dry bit got wet! I did ask Dad to look into how much a dry suit would be but they were £200, so I think we'll have to accept we'll carry on getting cold! I had to rush to finish my homework (nothing new there!). I'm doing some stuff on Geography & picked Earthquakes which is very much in the news at the moment as Italy has just had one - hope England is not next, although I now know that it shouldn't be as we are not near a fault line, which is where most of them occur - see not just a pretty face! . |

So Near, Yet So Far |
Phew, Dad has decided that we won't be driving to the chalet in France this Summer, we will instead take the 'proper' route, and fly. So what a shame, we don't have to spend over 12 hours in the car - EACH WAY!, just an hour and a bit to Stansted & a couple of hours in France, much more to our liking. Talking of things working out for the better - we finally got to have our first Rounders match, and we thrashed the other team 17 - 3. I was voted in as team Captain, and decided to be the bowler (but I'm not saying it was cos of either of these things that we won). We've got another match next week, so fingers crossed that the weather stays dry, and a bit of Sun would be nice as well. Although I'd rather not have it warm on Friday night's, as I've started to go Skiing again (which my friend Hannah is really pleased about), so much so that I stayed over at her house (near Loddon - on the way to Lowestoft) on Friday night & then went skiing again with Hannah & her brother on Saturday morning, at 9 o'clock - so twice is just over 12 hours. Luckily , the fun didn't stop there as we went into Norwich for a couple of hours to do some shopping, and I got some fab One Direction stuff (including some PJ's). On Sunday it was Alfie's turn to have some fun - he had a Football tournament, which meant another 9 o'clock start & a drive to Attleborough - which must be one of their furthest away places. I'm glad I brought a coat (which Annalise & Bethan didn't do - it was freezing!). Alfie's team played six matches (only 10 mins each game though), and had to get as many points as they could, sort of like the Premiership really. They did OK, drawing the first game, then winning the next one, before disaster - they lost 1-0. So, with 3 games to go they couldn't really lose any more..... and luckily they didn't. Alfie was unlucky not to score with a curling shot that hit the post (Blofield did still score then though), and then they were winning 1-0, when the other team got a corner and scored with a bullet header (just like Didier Drogber did for Chelsea in the game the other night) - the boys were gutted. At least they didn't have time to think about it, as the next game was straight after, and they won 4-0, their best result of the day. We had to wait to see if they had got enough points to qualify for the semi-finals..... and they did. The team they were playing again, they drew 1-1 with before, so it was always going to be a close game, and so it was. Blofield had most of the chances but just couldn't get the ball in the net, then....... a mix up between the defender & goalie, and the other team scored.......and sadly Blofield were OUT. Alfie took it OK (not like some of the Boys in the other semi-final, that went to a penalty shoot-out). The losing team nearly all burst into tears - anyone would think it was the World Cup final or something. It's just a game, and there is always next time (probably next weekend!) |

Something Blue |
As I hoped, we spent the Bank Holiday painting my bedroom, and its looking pretty damn cool (but then I would say that, wouldn't I). Me & Mum started off the painting, and were taking it slow & steady, but when Mum needed a bit of a break, Dad stepped in to help - and he whizzed round, making us look very slow by comparison....We didn't have time to do a 2nd coat of paint, which it was going to need (as some of the colour was still showing through!). So, I had to sleep in a really messy room for a few days (Mum & Dad reckoned they could hardly tell the difference from normal - cheeky). Dad collected my new quilt cover & pillow, so I just need a new blind now.... Blue, or White, I just can't decide. Not much to say about School - more Rain, so still no Rounders, but at least I found out that I will be going on the School trip to Thorpe Park near my birthday (how cool is that! - loads of scary rides to go on - fab). As we'd not made any plans for Saturday, Dad got up early and had just about finished painting my room again, before Mum got up!!!! Now all we need to do is let the paint dry & then put everything back. So that's what we did - the paint dried & we moved all my stuff back, put pictures & posters on the wall - but just one thing is missing - still no new blind. Admittedly, I hadn't really made up my mind on the colour, but now I have - Blue. As soon as this is done I'll take some pictures & show you the transformation. Sunday morning & another Football training session for Alfie & Joe, and the promise of a rare Swimming trip to Bungay, with one of our friends. Alfie decided to bring Jo & I brought my friend Georgie (who had not been to my house before but seemed to find it alright). We had a great time - even though the inflatable wasn't up - it is broken & they are deciding what sort of a new one to get, sort of like me & my blinds! We dived, swam, slid & splashed for over an hour & a half - we were super-wrinkled when we came out. That was it really, except that Dad is thinking about driving down to the chalet in the Summer, rather than get the plane (as something different). Twelve hours in the car (each way - are you mad, we'll die of boredom!) - let's hope he come to his senses soon & forgets that crazy idea. |

Tales from the RiverBank |
Another week, another cancelled Rounders match - we might as well just give up! As it turned out I would not have played as I've not been very well. I had to come home from School on Monday (Dad came to pick me up from the sick-room and I started coughing (and I haven't stopped since - its now really boring & hurts my lungs) - someone, anyone, please make it STOP. While I've been feeling rubbish, I'm sure Alfie has been trying extra hard to get on my nerves! If he has been trying, its definitely worked, as I want to kill him, but I haven't got the strength - just he wait until I'm better!!!! The only thing you can do in this sort of weather is wet stuff, so it was lucky that Alfie & Mum had a day out at Whitlingham Broad, which meant going out in Boats & Canoes , so a bit of rain wasn't going to stop that. They both had a great time, while I struggled on at School, coughing & coughing every 5 seconds - probably now getting on my teacher & friends nerves as well.as mine. Alf said he didn't even notice the rain as he got to wear proper warm / dry gear. Seeing the pictures reminded me of the times that we went out on Annalise & Harvey's boat, which we must do again sometime (when its warm & dry!). Talking about Annalise, its her birthday this week & I was invited over to her house for a sleep-over, with ELEVEN of her friends - what a crazy house-full. I hope my coughing didn't keep too many people awake! Choosing her present, I was good to know she has good taste, and wanted the book of An Idiot Abroad - one of our favourite programs, as well as a One Direction poster, one of my favourite Bands. We got some sleep (I was ready for sleep before 2 o'clock, but some of them just kept messing about), so I was still pretty tired when we got picked up at 11o'clock. Alfie had already been on the football pitch for an hour of training, but he was asleep nearly 4 hours before me, so it sort of makes sense. I'd half forgotten we weren't going home, but were going to see Grandma & Grumps instead, and a rare chance to see Monty & Connie (the last time was in the snow in France). Catherine had just come back from a trip to China (is there any country in the world she hasn't been to now?). It sounds like a really interesting place - apart from people eating Chickens feet - yuk. Connie was funny (as ever), and Monty picked on her (as he usually does). When she gets a bit older & bigger I think she's really going to start getting her own back - Monty watch out! My cough was really bad so I didn't do much running around, cos it just made it worse. The Boys played lots of Football, and me & Connie had fun together. As usual we ate lots of Grandma's lovely food, and came home feeling really stuffed full, and hope we'll see Monty & Connie over the Summertime (maybe in France, as that seems like where we are going). An extra day off School tomorrow, so I think we are going to start painting my bedroom - fab! |
29/04/2012 Happy Birthday 43 Years Old
|
Changing Rooms |
Oh dear, the weather didn't change & it just kept on raining - so no Rounders (again), and our birthday trip to Cambridge didn't go ahead. Well, it wouldn't be much fun on an open boat in the rain - let's hope that when we finally go it will be proper Spring or Summer weather and we get Sun on our faces, rather than Wind & Rain. So School was a bit rubbish - running between the two sites meant getting wet, or getting wet books (mmmm... tough choice!) or in Alfie's case being kept indoors when all you wanted to do was play Football. Talking about Football, it looks like Norwich were lucky to have enough points already as they lost again - this time against Liverpool. Yes, alright their goals were very good, but John Ruddy (our Goalkeeper) should not let in a shot from the half way line - that's just rubbish. Only two more games left - away to Arsenal (who with thrash us) and home to Aston Villa (who will be desperate to win so they do not get relegated (so again we'll probably lose) - seems like the players are already thinking about their Summer holidays!. Anyway, even with the rubbish weather, we did have something to celebrate - Dad's Birthday (he's now as old as Mum, a whopping 43!). It was a quiet start to the day on Saturday (Mum had a lie in-of course), and Dad opened his cards & presents - some sweets & some new pants (which me & Alfie bought him - as he really needed them!). As it was too wet to do anything, me & Alfie decided it was time to sort our bedrooms out - ready for them to be repainted. O.M.G, the mess that we had to clear up - UNBELIEVABLE, it took hours & hours & bags & bags of stuff - we were completely whacked by the finish. Luckily we had a treat in store - we ordered some BOOTIFUL Domino pizza's that were delivered to our house - Yum, Yum, Yum. So, with my room tidy, I decided I wanted a change around, and me & Dad pushed & pulled to get things where I wanted them & DISASTER, the bed didn't fit where I wanted it to go (by just a tiny bit - I was so upset). I thought we'd have to put everything back how it was but Dad had a good idea & we didn't. It's quite different now, but I really like it. As I'm so over everything Pink (Pink is still OK, but just not so much of it), I am changing the colours too, so we went looking for paint and stuff.. We found some lovely curtains & bed bits from Next, and while Mum sorted it all out, me, Alfie & Dad got sooooooo bored in the shop we nearly walked out! Just to even things out, on the way home we stopped in to Snowfit (in their new Norwich shop), and got Alfie a new pair of Skis (with twin-tips, that means they curl up at the back as well as the front, so you can mess about more) - wicked! So we've just got to paint some of the test colours on our walls to see which one we like best, and someone can then paint them for us! |

Chicken Run |
Unbelievable, ever since we had to stop using our hosepipe to water things (including our newly planted seeds & stuff). it hasn't stopped raining - we haven't had to go & water them once, fantastic low maintenance Gardening! What we do need to keep a close eye on are the Cats, as they seem to think that our new veg garden is a toilet - gross! The School routine goes one, but one thing is for sure, it looks like you get to go on some really cool trips. This week I've got details of a trip to Thorpe Park, which has got lots of fab RollerCoasters & other scary rides. Not only that, but a day trip to France, which sounds good, except you have to be at School at 4:30 IN THE MORNING, and do not get back until 1:30 IN THE MORNING, which is like being awake for nearly a whole Day & Night - O.M.G. We got a bit bored one afternoon after School, so decided to do something useful, and cooked some Pinwheels, which are like mini Pizza's but rolled up - delicious. Dad was happy this time, and ate nearly half of them (more than making up for last time when he didn't get any). Saturday was looking like a pretty dull day, until we got invited over to stay at Annalise & Harvey's house. We got to see their 6 Chickens who have got a really smart house, and look proper spoiled. They have to work for their 'easy life' though, laying lots of lovely fresh eggs, which we had for Breakfast - yum, yum. Dad was working again on Sunday, so we stayed with the Chickens (Mum / Dad - we want some now). We don't know whee we'd put them but they look like fun, following you around and pecking in the durt. Maybe they could have our play house as a super-posh Chicken shed (or whatever a Chicken house is called). Before we go, how could be forget - Happy Birthday Grandad - 75 years old. We hope you had a lovely day & we're really looking forward to getting together in Cambridge next week. Lets hope the weather is better than it has been, as we might get wet, even if we don't fall in the river, on our Punt! |

Green Finger Gardeners |
Another Easter holiday over, and not a scrap of Chocolate left - even Mum has finished hers.... booooo! After our manic weekend, it was nice to relax for a few days, although we did spend a whole day in the garden - tidying up stuff & planting some new flowers & seeds that we'd bought. We were worried that we'd have to keep on watering them as there hadn't been much rain - but as Dad found out, on his bike, we did have some rain, just at the time he was leaving work - two days in a row. He was still dripping wet when he got home, and he'd had to drive back from Norwich.....ahhhhhhhhh, still good for the plants, so we shouldn't complain. Talking of water, this time the Sea. We went on a beach walk with Stephen, Daniel & Adam across the raod, and their crazy Dog Molly (who is just like Masie & Tilly, but much bigger). While she ran up & down the beach, Daniel & Adam decided they would go in the Sea (with their clothes on!). Now I know we went swimming in the sea in October last year, but it was 25 degrees & the Sun was shining - which it wasn't this time, and it definitely wasn't 25 degrees. So, guess what - they got wet (obviously) & very cold (of course) - fools. Speaking of crazy Dogs, we got to see Tilly (who was officially as mad as ever) as we went to visit Nanna & Grandad at their caravan in Kessingland, for the first time this year, and we're sure we'll be back again before the end of the season - hope so anyway. As we didn't get to see the film Pirates when we were over with Robert & Rowan, we went to see it on Saturday (just with Dad to give Mum a bit of peace & quiet). Even though there weren't many people watching it (only about 20-30 we reckon), I still managed to see one of my friends from School - what a small world Norwich must be! The film was pretty good - funny in places, and the animation was very clever. There were some adverts for some cool looking films so I hope we get to go again soon. On Sunday, Alfie's football team played their last league game of the season, and it was the closest game we'd watched so far. No-one had scored, and time was running out, when........ Blofield had a corner which curled into the area, and in off one of their defenders - GOAL! So they won their last 3 matches, but we still don't know where they finished in their league. So they won, but Norwich didn't. They lost SPECTACULARLY, 6-1 at home to Man City. Well, what can you say - one of their players cost more than the whole of the Norwich team. So, we'd better go & get our school stuff ready, as its back to the old routine tomorrow, and a much earlier start in the morning than we've been used to - how's Mum going to cope - no more 9 o'clock lie in's for her!. |

Woostershire Chocolate Heaven |
Do your tummies hurt as much as ours? We bet they do, as you've eaten your own body weight in chocolate, just like we have! All last week we were just wishing the days away, and no, it wasn't just for the Chocolate, we were looking forward to meeting up with our Cousins Robert & Rowan - even if it did mean a 4 hour trip in the car - no pain, no gain as those silly grown up's would say. Well, with all that looking forward to it, we were all packed & ready nice and early on Friday morning, but then had to wait ages for Mum to be ready (as usual). We left (eventually) and the time went pretty quick - just one quick stop for a tasty Big Mac, and we were there - let the fun begin. Robert & Rowan's Dog Masie is as crazy as ever, so hyper & pleased to see anyone & everyone. We left the Mum's & Dad's to chat about their dull stuff & we took ourselves off to the park to play some Football. We then had our tea & fell fast asleep (all except me, who couldn't, so ended up sleeping on the sofa downstairs). Saturday, and we had our legs punished by a six mile walk around the countryside, which was ok actually as it was flat(ish). The sting in the tail however was that when we got back to our cars, we learned we'd be going into the local town - which can only mean one thing - CHARITY SHOPS!!!!!!! Luckily Uncle Tom likes them as much as we do & got bored, so we all went home & left Mum, Auntie Shelly & Dad to visit the rest of them - weirdo's. Luckily, this meant we could catch up on the football scores, and were pleased to see that Norwich had drawn 2-2 against Everton (not bad). Sunday, and guess what (after a treat of Match of the Day), it was CHOCOLATE TIME. We are getting very good at the Easter Egg clues now - except we didn't remember what a Larder was (even though we had the same clue last year!). In no time we'd ripped through the clues had our Chocolate stash - as well as a Hollister top for me & a groovy Paul Frank bag for Alfie - thanks everyone. Of course, with fun-time over, that could only mean one thing - yup, another walk. This time not so flat & almost as long. At least we had some stops on the way. First, crossing the river on a boat with no engine that the man had to pull across on a rope - basis or what!, then at a place to see the Peregrine Falcons at Simons Yat, or somewhere like that - I know it had a really strange name, then by the river (where you find all sorts of strange things). Luckily there was another treat in store, a lovely drink at the Pub, at the end of the walk - bootiful. Monday, and the weather was a bit poop, so we tried to get some seats at the Cinema, to see Pirates, but they were full. So we had a lazy morning, and a lovely fried breakfast - yum, yum, and then a short(ish) walk in the rain - at least we had our waterproof stuff, so it wasn't too bad. Things got better in the afternoon as we watched the film Johnny English which was sooooo funny - so sitting watch a film, eating Easter eggs, who needs the Cinema? And the day was not finished with surprises, we learned that Norwich had won 2-1 at Tottenham, who were 4th in the Premier League - incredible, they are now 9th. Sadly, after this, it was time to go (well it was nearly 7 o'clock & we were 200 miles from home!). We'd had such a great time that we still didn't want to go. strangely we didn't sleep & arrived back just as Match of the Day 2 was starting, so we stayed up to watch Norwich, who were awesome - O.T.B.C. At least we haven't got to wait too long before we see them again - we are meeting in Cambridge in 3 weeks time for Grandad & Uncle Jason's joint Birthday thing, then it will only be another 5 weeks until we see them again at the Shropshire campsite. |

Star Player |
The sykik link between Alfie's Blofield Utd & Norwich City is finally broken - and Blofield are the winners. Norwich lost away at Fulham, but only 2-1 this time. Dad told us that the last time they played there they lost 6-0 - very embarrassing. On the other hand, Blofield won away at Attleborough, 4-2, and Alfie got the award for Man-of-the-Match. Although he didn't score, he set up two of the goals and did some great tackles, as well as running with the ball (until he got hacked down!). This was all after a surprise sleep-over at Annalise & Harvey's house on Saturday night, cos Dad had to work on Sunday, so couldn't take Alfie to football. We were very sensible though, as we were all pretty tired we were asleep by 11 o'clock, which as you know from our previous sleep-overs, there isn't always much sleep involved. As it turned out poor old Dad was at work from 9 o'clock in the morning til nearly 7 o'clock at night, and he was not very happy when he got home, as someone else had messed things up, otherwise they would have finished at lunchtime - oops! Mum went to Beccles on Saturday with Nanna, so we had the day to ourselves. We went into Norwich, and I bought a pair of shoes, Dad got some bargain trousers from the 2nd hand shop (of course), and Alfie bought some sweets (which didn't last very long). Oh, and of course, we are now on holiday for two whole weeks, and in the middle its chocolate feasting time (again with Robert & Rowan), as we are going over to see them for a few days, which will be great fun. And lastly, how could we not mention, Dad did buy the SONOS music system with the money he got from Aviva, so now we can listen to whatever music we want (or at least we will be able to when they sort it out). The people that send the music made some changes or something & its all been a bit rubbish - so hope they sort it out soon. At least we've now got over 1000 radio stations to choose from, which has every sort of music you can think of. Dad's just got the lovely job of putting all his CD's onto the system now & it'll be job done. The clever thing is that we can use Mum & Alfie's phones as the remote control for the music, as well as any of the laptops, so we are all wired for sound - PARTY!!!!! |

Freaky Football |
Well Google failed..... it didn't know the answers to my Chemistry homework - just goes to show how tough it is at High School! Nevermind, Mum wrote in my diary that Mum, Dad me had all tried & had to give up - hope they go easy on me! How weird... I was only saying last week that Alfie's football team & Norwich City seemed to be in competition to see who could keep losing for the longest time, and they both go and win! First Norwich beat Wolves, and will now almost definitely be in the Premier League again next year, amazing as everyone expected them to get relegated - O.T.B.C. Then on Sunday, Blofield won 5-2 against Windham. Alfie played really well, and set up two of the goal for his team, and had a couple of shots that nearly went in. Joe had another good game in goal & made some good saves (obviously fully recovered from his injury last week). There are now only two more matches to go before the season is finished - what will he do on a Sunday morning over the Summer - ski? I'm sure their coach will have them back in pre-season training from July, so he'll hardly get any time off - tough at the top eh! In between, I got to go into Norwich to do some shopping with my friends Lucy & Karina, and I bought a huge poster for my bedroom of my favourite pop group - One Direction - awesome! What also will be amazing is if Dad spends some money (I know an unlikely thing to happen) on a Sonos music system like Robert & Rowan have got. He's been talking about it cos he got some money for working at Aviva for 25 years & wanted something that would last. So, we'll be working on him this week to persuade him to 'invest' his money wisely in a SONOS MUSIC SYSTEM, cos we know he really wants one (its not just us - honest). |

Mum's Double Treat |
Another week, another football defeat - maybe Blofield U9's & Norwich City are having a secret competition of who can go the longest without winning a game. Alfie's team have not won for two games, but Norwich haven't won for 5 games, so anyone could still win!!!!! Never mind, its only a game, and Alfie wasn't nearly as disappointed this week. Maybe cos he got smacked in the face by the ball & wasn't thinking properly! At least he didn't get whacked like his friend Joe did - and not by another player - by the post. He had to go off injured & Harvey went in goal - but they were already losing, so that can't be the reason they lost - another chance next week. Anyway, enough of that football stuff - on to more interesting things - cooking & Mother's Day. Cooking first. I has a busy week baking biscuits (the first batch were for my friends at School), which were so popular that I didn't have any left to bring home & Dad was very disappointed. The solution - obvious - make some more!, so I must have baked over 50 Ginger biscuits in 4 days, and I think we are already down the the last few - I must be doing something right!!! So, Mother's Day weekend, and what turned out to be a double treat for Mum. First, on Saturday we went out for lunch (at a really posh place called Dunston Hall), where we had a delicious Carvery (like we had when we went out for Nanna's birthday last year). We piled our plates with Turkey, Beef, Roast Potatoes, Sausages, a few vegetables & lashings of gravy - bootiful!!!! Luckily, we'd still left a bit of space for our ice-cream afters, which was some of the nicest Strawberry flavour - ever. Afterwards we had to go & pick up some new camping mattresses from Dereham, but on the way there the car engine started to get very hot, and we had to keep stopping to let it cool down. It took us ages to get there, pick up the things & crawl home again - which was pretty boring. It at least gave Mum the chance to show-off with her phone, and by the time we got home she had worked out that it needed a new water pump - flashy! We'll see if she was right as it goes into the Garage on Thursday. On the real Mother's Day, Mum showed that skiing on Sunday's is obviously a treat, as she decided to go (and I decided to come along - mainly to see my friend Hannah), and what a bonus - no more physical training (running up & down the slope / round the Lake etc!) - Mum is equally pleased (no more coming last for her!). We had a good ski & no complaints about skis being too sharp this week, she clearly worked out how silly this sounded. Just time to get changed after & Grandma & Grumps arrived. It was great to see them as it felt like ages since we saw them last. The Mum's got to take it easy while Dad sorted out our lunch, and very nice it was as well. Salmon for everyone (except me) and some lovely Chocolate crunch & Custard for afters. We had just enough space for a couple of Grandma's Choc Chip cakes & some of my Ginger biscuits, while we watched Norwich lose 1-0 to Newcastle, which wasn't too bad really. Must dash, I've got some Chemistry homework to finish, which I really don't know how to do - let's hope Google knows the answer! |

Not So Lucky Mascot |
I take it all back, about Alfie's football team being better with him in it! Last week's double victory was clearly just luck, as this week they all played really poorly & lost 7-4 (and the other team hit the post & the bar, so could have scored TEN!). Alfie was well down afterwards, especially as Dad started telling him the things that he, and the team should of been doing - like he's a football coach all of a sudden! Luckily, I didn't have to stay around and watch him sulk, me & Mum went shopping in Norwich, for some Girly stuff (obviously), and a Mother's Day present for next week - sorted. Alfie played outside with Stephen, while Dad cleared up the shed & cut the grass, for the first time this year. This needs to be the year of the garden as its starting to look a bit scruffy. Hopefully our new brick-weave drive will be the start of making it smart again. Kev next door is changing his drive, so he's going to do ours for us - using his old bricks. Don't know when it'll be done, but its got to look better than our oil covered mess!!! Just to show I've not lost my skiing skills, me & Mum entered a night slalom race at the club, and I came 2nd, just behind my friend Hannah, so I didn't mind. Mum had spent ages sharpening and messing with her skies, but then skied out on two of the runs - cos her skies were TOO SHARP - What!!!!!! Some sad news to finish with, Annalise & Harvey's Cat Tiger has died. Just like our Cat's Floyd & Lilly, she was very old (nearly Twenty I think, and got unwell & went to sleep). Only last week Annalise was talking about some Kittens & a Dog, once Tiger was gone, so I wonder if she's already looking (or is that a bit too soon?). |

Gosh, was it already more than a week ago that we came back from our skiing holiday - unbelievable! We did moan a bit about the snow, but looking this week, its much worse - there are new bits of mud showing through every day - almost a grass slalom course!, so it looks like we were lucky really. Our friends were really pleased to see us & hear all about our holiday (for about 5 mins, until we all got bored & starting talking about some other rubbish). Alfie went back to football practice & learned that his Blofield team has lost the two games they played when he wasn't there - were they just unlucky, or did they miss their midfielder? - only one way to find out..... the next match. Before all that, we had the celebration burning of the last of our old doors - the one with our heights marked on it (which we took pictures of), before Dad chopped it to bits and we burnt it, in another spectacular fire, that scorched a black mark on the grass.... ooops. Anyway, we had a good time setting light to Bamboo canes, and waving them about like flaming spears - in our PJ's! So, back to the Football. Alfie decided he'd play on both Saturday (for the reserves) & Sunday (for the proper team), to get back into it. On Saturday they played Woodside, which his old School friend Sammy plays for, and guess what, Blofield won 2-1, and Alfie scored the winning goal - just luck? Sunday morning was wet & miserable, but I'd agreed to meet Annalise there, so I'd just have to get wet. Alfie's team were playing the next closest team, Norwich United, and another of his school friends plays for them - Ollie S. Again, just like on Saturday the let in an early goal, but then came back to win 3-2. Alfie played most of the match and set up two of the goals, so even though I hate to say it, it does look like the team plays better when he is in it..... choke, choke. I spent most of the time with my friends, so didn't see all of the match, we were too busy arranging a trip into Norwich in the afternoon.... Hollister, Super Dry, Jack Wills.... all our favourite clothes shops, and some Potato & Onion bags for Dad - great! Of course we managed to spend all of our money, but on lovely things (naturally), and came back to the stinky smell of Dad.... who had put some more oil on the new doors & on the Dining Room floor - phew! |

Sunshine Skiing |
Phew, where did the last week go? One minute we were waking up & getting ready to travel to the airport, the next, we'd been skiing, come back & were getting ready for School - crazy! What a week though.... first, a great surprise - cousin Monty was still at the chalet when we arrived (we thought he'd be back in England), but he was there for half our holiday. He & his Sister Connie had been soooo excited all day waiting for us to arrive and they went proper mental when we did! Although there was snow everywhere it didn't feel cold & we had a good mess about outside while Mum & Dad got all the stuff in from the car, that Dad had expertly driven up the mountain - and no-one was ill this time - bonus. Day 1 - We got our ski legs warmed up in Seignus, and spent most of the time on the lower slopes as higher up most of the snow had been blown away, and we had Monty with us, who just wanted to ski off-piste in the trees, on the same tracks that we love, so that was cool. Day 2 - We decided to go to the top & some of the skiing was ok - the Black run (the most difficult sort) was probably our favourite as there was both good snow and moguls (bumps) to ski over or round. It was really warm, and the sunbathing on the lifts was lovely. To finish off, a lovely meat Fondue - we're already looking forward to Raclette & chocolate Fondue (though not together!) Day 3 - Off in the Car up to La Foux, and some really good skiing, again with Monty showing us some of his new off-piste routes, including this cool gully that we skied down. Mum just had to try the Black run from the top, which was fine - except we had to wait for ages for her to get down - Captain Sloooooooow!!!! Wow, Chocolate Fondue - total Heaven, Choc, Choc & more Choc, with just the odd bit of fruit!!!! Day 4 - Monty & Catherine went back to England, as Monty had school the next day, so we decided to go out for the whole day and go all the way over from La Foux to Pra Loup & back - about 20 miles of skiing we reckon, or that's what it felt like on our legs. Alfie found their FunPark (where they have jumps) but wasn't expecting them to be that big, or the slope that steep, so had a couple of spectacular crashes - ouch! It was much busier in Pra Loup and the snow more slushy, but at least their sandwiches were nice - and you could buy a bottle of Champagne on the slopes for £100 - who on earth would do such a mad thing? Raclette for tea, lots of runny cheese, jacket Potatoes & a new find - grilled Spanish sausage - bootiful. Day 5 - Mum wanted to spend the morning in La Foux again, so we got there, got our skies on & went to the lift, when DISASTER - my lift pass had come out of my ski jacket!!!!!!! Dad had to buy another 1/2 day pass which cost £25, and we all hoped my pass was in the Chalet somewhere. Luckily it was & after a late lunch we finished off the day in Seignus, and were almost the last people off the mountain. Connie didn't seem to be missing her Brother too much & was loving the chance to play with someone different (us). Day 6 - Incredibly, already our last day's skiing, so we decided to go out in style, another ski all the way from La Foux to Pra Loup & back. Although we'd only been there a couple of days before the hot weather had really messed up the snow - down near the village it was sooooo slushy, it felt like it was glued to the bottom of your skis - HORRIBLE. We were glad to get back to La Foux for the last couple of hours, to ski in the shade where the snow was much better. At least we didn't have to be up too early, and we had plenty of time to drive to the airport - even having time to stop for some lunch where they usually do cross-country skiing, but even here the snow was pretty rubbish. Then after a speedy flight home & a drive from Luton, and our usual welcome home Chinese tea - it was all over for another year - INCREDIBLE. Now all we've got left is all the unpacking, sorting out & homework...... great!!!!!! Just so we don't get too sad, too quickly, looking at these holiday pictures made us feel loads better - enjoy! |

Half Term.... Yawn |
We did manage to survive the Half-term holiday without any major bust-up's, or so we think - Mum's view might be different, but her idea of major is very different to ours! It ended up being pretty boring really as we didn't get to meet up with Robert & Rowan, as we hoped to, as Shelly wasn't very well so they didn't come over to stay at Nanna & Grandads afterall. We did a few bits & pieces, like going into Norwich to get some stuff for our holiday suitcases, and helping Dad get the big bags & cases out of the loft & choosing our holiday clothes - took Alfie about 5 seconds, but me & Mum has to take lots more time & care over our outfits - obviously. Just to show how dull it was, the most interesting thing to happen was that our TV aerial thing on the roof decided to fall down - it had been a windy night, but we think it just got old & tired! Anyway, Dad had already tied it down a bit, as it was swinging around by the wire - before Jen across the road noticed it & told Mum. Dad came home and chopped the rest down - so how lucky are we that we've got Sky, or we'd have no TV - unthinkable!!!!!!! So by the time Friday afternoon came & Dad got home from work, we were just about all ready to go on holiday - except for putting the stuff in the car - fingers crossed it all fits. Gotta go.... one more sleep until our real holiday begins...... later. |

Fantastic Fire |
No more snow, but its still been cold - our Smowman lasted until at least Wednesday (without a head), and now he is just a small heap of dirty ice - shame. Just to show how tough even young footballers have to be, Alfie still had football training on both Tuesday & Wednesday night, although Tuesday was indoors, as our School pitches were still covered in snow. Not much to say about School really, just that everyone seemed to be looking forward to their week off (or 2 weeks, in our case) - naughty or what! We got to choose our favourite thing to cook again, and I chose my Pin-wheels, and as before, I ate most of them before they came home - yum! Finally, it was Friday and time to chill - first with my friend Maddy who came home with me from School & had a sleep over. Just to show just how hard we work during the week, we were both asleep before 11 o'clock on Friday night, which normally never happens on a sleep-over. We had a lazy Saturday morning while Dad finished sorting out a couple of the new doors that were sticking a bit - now they don't, good work. Luckily we didn't stay at home all day & Alfie, Maddy, Dad & Me went Swimming at Riverside. We had a great time diving down to get the sinkers, finding lost treasure (like hair bands & stuff) on the bottom, and having battles on the giant floats. Just as good, we got to finish off with a trip to Poundland, which means Sweets, and got back to the car to hear that Norwich had won against Swansea, in Wales - amazing, now they are up to 8th place in the League. Alfie's Football game on Sunday was called off (again), but at least him & Joe had a Birthday party to go to, and they had a great time doing some Bowling & stuffing their faces full of Pizza. Dad tried to take the old doors to the dump, but they wouldn't take more than a couple of them, some old rubbish about DIY waste of something. So, he decided to chop them up into even smaller pieces & have a fire with them in the garden. Luckily we've got this metal fire thing that he used and once the fire was alight, it was a fab, the flames were leaping everywhere, and sooooooo HOT. So hot in fact that I sat outside, eating my lunch - in my Pyjamas, with Snow on the ground - how about that! Dad was also dressed for Summer in a T-shirt, and spent the next 3 hours burning all the doors down to just a small pile of ash - where did all the rest go? Hopefully Alfie & me won't have killed each other over the half term holiday (which means we need lots of things to do - stop us getting bored), and then we'll be ready for our skiing holiday. Which reminds us, we need to start our packing......... gotta dash. |

Allos Rehersal |
Gosh, who would guess that cooking Fudge could be this difficult. Me & Maddy made some & it looked lovely, tasted really yummy, but it refused to set, even when we left it in the fridge over night. Thankfully, Mum came to the rescue & suggested we stir in some more icing sugar to thicken it up a bit - so we did & it set...... and even sweeter than ever! Talking about cold (again - 3 weeks in a row now, anyone would think its Winter!) - Alfie & Joe came back from their football training on Tuesday & Wednesday with Orange faces as they said they were Hot & Cold - weirdo's. Dad carried on with the doors, this time putting some oil on them, which makes them look really lovely, but it stinks! He didn't do too much after School during the week, but started again on Friday night, and by Sunday he'd put them all in, and just had to put the oil on the last few (including our Bedrooms - so we'll be in for a smelly night pretty soon). When they are all done we'll take some photo's so you can see how they look - but we'll have to tidy our rooms up first - otherwise the doors won't look so good!. We'd heard the weatherman saying there was going to be snow of Sunday, so while Dad was playing with the doors on Saturday, I had the chance to escape & went Bowling with Karyna & Lucy, then onto Riverside for a bit of shopping. Alfie went to DIY shops.... boring, but did get lunch at McDonalds & a game of football at Postwick Park. That did end up being his last game of football this weekend, as just as they predicted, the snow came & Alfie's important cup match was called off. Lucky really as it was away at Dereham. Not before Norwich had won 2-0 against Bolton, which was so much better than when they played against Sunderland on Wednesday night & lost 3-0, and were rubbish (about as bad as when they played against MK Dons - and we know what happened then!). We were up early on Sunday, both to watch Match of the Day, and to play in the snow as soon as it was past breakfast time. It wasn't just a light sprinkle of snow, this was a proper lot - about 5-10cm we reckon. By half 10, we'd done enough general messing around it it, so we all decided to go down the ski club for a proper blast, after all, Mum was already down there. It was a shame that Annalise & Harvey couldn't come but we had a fab time, hitting the Funpark & the jump on only our 2nd run down. There was still some fresh snow to ski on, so we made a few of our own tracks, and tried to hit each other with snowballs on the lift - great fun. Even better, they were doing hot food, so we got to munch on a plate of Cheesy Chips - delicious! We got back, did out homework, while guess what....... yup, Dad played with some more doors, then it was off for the last job of the day - building a snowman. It was then we found that the snow was good for skiing, ok for snowballs, but not good for Snowmen - it kept falling to bits. We, tried & tried, but we have to admit it wasn't our best one ever! |

Snow White, but not the Panto |
Whoo, the Snow Gods must have heard us moaning about no snow in Allos, cos just afterwards they had lots & lots, and everything is now looking fab again. Check it out for yourself at www.valdallos.com/winter-webcams.html Mind you, it has been a bit too cold for our liking, one night it was supposed to be -29 degrees - brrrrrrrr! Another week of School zoomed past without much to say - at least no more Cross Country to be humiliated by. Saturday turned into a really cool day - me, Mum & Alfie went to Lowestoft to see the Pantomime (yes, yes, I know they are Christmas things, and Christmas was ages ago, but it was the last weekend of their Panto season, so it sort of makes sense, for Lowestoft anyway!) The Panto was really good fun - Cinderella this year, and as usual we got to do some cheering, booing & shouting - Grandad must of heard that it was good this year as he came along as well. So, you are obviously thinking where was Dad - working again? Well sort of, but not at Aviva this time, no he was getting into his latest DIY project - changing all the doors inside the house. Gone are those white ones that we used to have, and in its place are some really lovely Oak ones instead. When its all done we'll have to take some picturs as it really makes a difference. We helped Dad to count & measure up the other week, so he could order them & there were 15 doors to do, and in the 1st day he'd already done three of them, and by the end of Monday had done NINE. All that are left now are a couple of bedroom doors and the bathroom & shower room - phew, go crazy boy! Talking about cold (again) - me & Mum went skiing on Sunday morning & it was well chilly - at least it makes the slope a bit faster, and less like the slow old plastic carpet that it usually is. Alfie had a game of Football in Norwich so while we were at least wrapped up in warm clothes, he had shorts on - chilly Knees! It was obviously worth it as they won 2-1, after going 1-0 down, Alfie's friend Joe made some fantastic saves to keep them in the game, and got the Man-of-the-Match trophy. That's two games that Alfie & Joe have played in & they've won them both - next week is a cup match (quarter final), so I'm sure he's already dreaming of Wembly (even though they obviously wouldn't play there even if they got to the final). My friend Maddy is coming round after School tomorrow, and we are going to cook some Fudge - could be fun & lovely of a complete disaster - find out next week. |

Football Transfer Exclusive |
Amazingly, Mum's had her new phone over a week, and she's not lost it yet! Not only that, but she's actually getting to use it a bit more herself, as we've got a bit bored of the games on it now, and we reckon she has sent more texts in the past week, than in the rest of her life - Wow, proper 21st Century Mum!!!!! School was OK, nothing really to say, definitely nothing to say about the cross country race - I didn't feel very well, after a really good start, and finished, but I'm not saying in what place - so we'll move on. The big news of the week was Alfie & Jo going to train with Blofield Utd FC, by special request. Dad was away in York so me & Mum had to go and watch at this new 5-a-side football place. Luckily Dad came along just after they'd started, so me & him went home while Mum stayed - as she'd never seen him play before. She couldn't believe how much running about he did, and all the skills & tricks he had - it's all that practice in the front room obviously. Saturday we went for a haircut, which took ages as Mum was having her hair coloured - boring!, but at least we were round Kerry's house, so we played about a bit, then came home to watch Norwich City FC on TV, against Chelsea. We expected them to lose, but amazingly they drew 0-0 (thanks to the very hopeless Torres!). On Sunday Dad had to go into work, and Alfie had his first match for Blofield Utd, at home to Scole, all the way from near Diss. It was pretty good fun. Mum got to watch Alfie play, and they did really well, winning 5-0, and I got to mess around with Annalise & some of her friends, that I also know - I'd actually go again (amazing). Sunday afternoon was the usual very boring stuff - tidying up & homework, and then what do you know - it was time for bed & School again. Only 3 more weeks til Half-Term, then skiing - but still hardly any snow (now we are getting worried!). |
15/01/2012 43 Years Old |
Phones 4 U |
Well what d' ya know - Mum is once again the oldest in the house - 43, Happy Birthday Mum. Not really much to say about our week at School, other than I made some delicious Pin-Wheels in cookery. They are like rolled up pizza's, and were sooooo tasty. So good in fact, that of the eleven I made only four made it home - yum. Alfie & Jo has been invited to football training with Blofield Utd & Harvey on a Wednesday night - no Girls allowed though - booooooo. So, we'll have to see if they give up on Soccer Stars Elite, or do them both. Blofield (or rather Harvey's Mum Debbie) helped to get them in so they'd better show all their best tricks & skills! So, what can we say about Mum's special day (and on a Saturday as well - bonus). So she had a lie in (as usual), but not as long as usual, as we were going to Milton Keynes to have a ski on their indoor snow slope. There was just enough time for Mum to open her presents, and she got really lucky - some vouchers for Fat Face & White Stuff (boring), but what we were waiting for was her iPhone. No sooner was it out of the box, we were playing with it - Mum could hardly get her hands on it - what is it like her birthday present or something! Anyway, we loaded the car with all our stuff (it was just like going skiing), said goodbye to Pushca, as Grandma & Grumps were back from their holiday & picking her up while we were out - she is such an easy Cat to look after - all she does is sleep (what an easy life), and we were off. It seemed to take forever, but only about 2 hours really - helped by our phones giving us step by step instructions - amazing, and then, there it was , the big dome thing in the middle of Milton Keynes. We had a bit of lunch (lovely KFC) & hit the slope. It was a bit like Allos (it was cold & there was some snow), but there were lots of other people there, all getting in our way - not like Allos at all. We had a good time, messing about, and can't wait until next month & the real thing. Just over the road were loads of shops, so it would be rude not to take a look. Outside was this fab market, with some really interesting stalls selling all sorts of strange fruit & veg, that we'd never seen before - Yams & stuff - weird. You all know Dad likes a bargain, well how about this - a new Duck feather quilt for Alfie & it was only £5! I would have had one as well but they didn't have any more. Never mind, as we decided to finish off the day with a trip to Ikea (where I did get a quilt - not Duck though), and we made Dad spend a bit more of his money - what an expensive day out its been. It was a quiet ride home as we were all pretty tired, and straight to bed, as it was nearly half past 10 by the time we got in. A lazy Sunday (no ski racing for Mum & me - she was still asleep, long after it started). Watched Norwich get an amazing away win at West Brom - still 9th! We went to the park with Alfie's friends Jo & Stephen, hoping that Nanna & Grandad would be there when we got back (which they nearly were). No Tilly the Dog to make a fuss over, but a lovely time, sitting around, with Mum trying to show off her new phone - just make sure you don't lose it!!!!! . |

Phone Envy |
Whoa, where did Christmas & New Year go........ its all starting to feel just like any other week, not just the 1st week of another year. Just before we went back to school, we got the chance to see Grandma & Grumps, and stretch out Christmas just a bit further - as we'd not seen them, so lucky us, some more presents. I got a lovely jewellery box, a groovy Norwich City t-shirt & a some cake decorating stuff - fab. Alf got a bag for his football boots & a really smart Black Norwich City t-shirt. Mum got a spice grinding thing for the Kitchen, and Dad got some wood chisels - they were pleased, so whatever! Mum & Dad went back to work, so we had a bit of time with Stephen, Daniel & Adam, who were back from Scotland, and wanted to show us how good they were on their new scooters. They are well weird as you have to sort of skate with your feet to get them to go forward - takes some getting used to. That just left a short week at school, which was good, as the first day getting up at 6 in the morning was horrendous! Definitely glad I got my new phone as lots of my friends got them as well, so we spend every spare minute on them (obviously). Mum has got well jealous of our phones & the things that they can do, so what do you think she wants for her birthday - yup a phone. Not just any phone though, she wants an I-Phone....... we're thinking that for someone who never has her phone with her, or if she does its never charged, or got credit - what's the point. Middle-age crisis (whatever that is) - Dad told me to put it. We might be going skiing on some real snow this weekend (no, I haven't suddenly become some amazing weather forecaster, but you never know) - mum wants to go to Milton Keynes, and the real snow indoor ski slope, and Annalise & Harvey might be coming with us, so it could be like a mini day in Allos.. |
01/01/2012 Happy New Year
|
Another One Gone! |
Whoosh.....that's the sound of another year rushing past - unbelievable. Happy New Year to all our friends. This time last year, I'd never been to High School, and Annalise & Harvey's house was a pile of rubble (as they'd just finished knocking the old barn down! Luckily when we went to see them on Boxing Day, it has been re-build, and lookin' very, very smart indeed. Annalise has got her own bathroom, just like me & Harvey has got this really cool upstairs bit to his bedroom. Their house has got TV's everywhere - nearly in every room, as well as the biggest projector screen TV we've ever seen - it was massive. We had to earn the right to slob out, so we went for a walk across the marshes which was actually quite nice as it was very mild - I didn't really need my new ski jacket (but it looked well cool!). After we got back and had a lovely tea, we watched the film Transformers on the big screen - WOW, not only was the screen big, but the sound was too - we must get Dad to sort something out at home!!! On Tuesday we went into Norwich, to get covers for our phones. We didn't stay too long though as it started to get very busy - just enough time to get what we wanted, Mum to buy some more clothes that she doesn't need, and have some chips on the Market. The rest of the week was pretty boring - Dad was back at work, and we were just counting down the hours until our Cousin's Robert & Rowan were coming to stay, on Friday. One thing we weren't look forward to.... tidying up. O.M.G, Friday was just tidy up, tidy up, tidy up.....all day - BORING!!!! At last, the house was transformed, and they arrived - party time!!!!!! The next two days were fab. First New Years Eve, and a trip to see the Seals on the Beach at Horsey. Robert & Rowan hadn't seen them before & couldn't believe how many there were - including the little Pup's that were just lying on the beach - sometimes looking like they were dead (we hope they weren't). Still, there are only so many Seals you can look at, until they all start looking the same - so we found something else to entertain us - 'Sand Dune Stunts' (and I think you'll agree, pretty impressive!). After a well deserved drink at the Pub, we got home & saw their holiday pictures from Florida - it looks amazing... Giraffe wandering around outside your hotel - cool, or what. We had already decided that we'd be staying up until Midnight, and despite the Adults best efforts we made it... just. There were a few Fireworks outside, but nothing like the big ones in London, or Australia. So, another day, another year, and hopefully another fun packed one. Crazy Masey the Dog had been on the lead a lot of the walk near the Seals so we took her out to Burlingham Woods for a proper run around, and she went everywhere - 10 times as far as we went! Dad even managed to squeeze in a couple of Geocaches, so he was happy - nearly 300 finds now. Just time for some more fun on the Wii, while dinner was prepared, and a delicious one it was - Duck, Ginni Fowl & Poosin (whatever they are) - it was meat & it tasted nice!!!!. Then it was time for Robert & Rowan to go home.....booooo. We did hear them talking about camping in May, so we've got that to look forward to. So, only a day or so left of our Christmas holiday, before its back to School, which means its about 7 weeks til our skiing holiday - fingers crossed for a bit more snow in Allos, as they're going to need it before we get there. |
